When you think it can’t get any worse – it could!

August 28, 2022 at 8:31 am #243692To be fair, many of those former league clubs in that division are phoenix clubs who have risen to that level.

Not entirely correct!
Chester, Hereford, Darlington, Scarborough are all Phoenix Clubs, reformed from the ashes of sides that went to the wall.
They came up through the Unibond leagues to reach the dizzy heights of NL(N).
We may well have to do the same.
August 28, 2022 at 8:49 am #243696Interesting no former League clubs in the National League South. The north south divide applies to football clubs as well?

True but the parallels remain.
Here’s what Darlington got for about a £1m.

I may ask the tarot reader for a reading for the club.August 29, 2022 at 7:39 pm #243930Lorry driver picked up a girl hitch hiker. She must have been a witch because she touched his cock and he turned into a lay-by.

A serious question, could we get 3,000 fans to stick £350 into a new club?
August 30, 2022 at 9:12 am #244000No, but if we did then what?

We do as others have done and start from scratch.
August 30, 2022 at 2:52 pm #244051£500 would be nearer the mark then get some local businessmen/women back involved to once again to become a locally engaged club not a millionaires play thing.

Topics: 100What sort of wages do players pick up in NLN?
£20K a year?
A squad of 20 would equate to £400k a year on players wages alone.
Could a club operate with a non playing staff of 20 (coaches & office & groundsmen) on say £600k a year?
That’s a million quid already!
Academy? – how would that be funded?
Turnstile money would be way short of operating costs.
The commercial people would have to be the stars of the show bringing in sponsorship money to cover the deficit.Big challenge!

There are currently 24 clubs managing to do it, and we wouldn’t start at that level.
September 16, 2022 at 9:49 am #245027Depends on the club’s heritage.
No surprise Gateshead and York came up last season as they’re run like an EFL setup. Plus the stadia are multi-use. Gateshead is used for athletics and has other facilities on site and the new LNER stadium at York has swimming pool, gym, bowling alley, library, cafe and outdoor all-weather pitches.
Spennymoor and Blyth on the other hand are not much of a step up from your average CIU Club. Other than a portacabin club shop there’s nothing else on site. And you don’t need reminding how good the food is!
And these are just four ground I’ve been to in the last 12 months.
If it were managed properly GP would be fine. However, if it were to be taken off us and we had to start up elsewhere, it could be a real struggle. And from what I have seen, clubs that just break even don’t win leagues.

September 16, 2022 at 11:35 am #245035Brumby hall would be fine all the sports you could want ready made club house changing rooms training facilities and enough land for an 100,000 seater stadium should we need it, the present arrangement would suffice to start with.

Yeah, we’d fill a 100 seater stadium.

December 21, 2022 at 7:36 am #250748I would say our crowds would be somewhere between 1000 and 1500 unless Elliott’s army are storming it !
