Mystery Striker On Trial

We took a striker on trial last Thursday according to Butler. You heard or seen anything as to who the mystery man is ?

With 3 Target men up front we need a small , nimble goal scorer.My guess would be Gary Hooper. He has just played for celtic in a former players tournament.
He was the star of the show. Many feel he could still do a job for them.
I know he is 36, still has it and could be worth a 12 mth contract.

I did say a while back we needed a smaller nippy goal poacher style striker …very much doubt its hooper though .. its being kept a very tight secret so interested to find out just who it is and if Braithwaite is being signed , i hope he is .

Didnt categorize CUb in that way Cass but do think he will notch a few this season.

AB / LT must be thinking an extra center forward be handy as took this mystery fella on trial.

I call it Barry Fry syndrome. No manager ever thinks they can have too many forwards.

Barry always had 8 or 9 on the books back in his managerial days. Still always on the lookout for another though.

We have Whitehall who blows a bit hot and cold, Carlton who is a winger that AB wants to use as a striker, and Fishburn who has practically zero experience at this level or above. And don’t put Beestin in the mix, he hasn’t competently performed in his natural position for the past 3 seasons let alone out of position as a striker!

Glad they’re taking a look at someone else.

I wonder if this striker would be considered somewhat of a coup if he were to sign and this is why it’s been kept so quiet ?.

Regarding Carlton, he scored 16 goals last season and according to Butler his shot conversion rate was the highest in the league and had played as a striker in Ireland.

That player in the training pic is definitely Duffus, so we can chalk the idea he’d be a big marquee signing. I sort of understand why we’ve gotten him on trial as he can play both on the left and right wing, as well as a striker.

I wonder if he’s being considered as more of a sub wide player in case we ever need to change shape ?

Duffus .. 23 games in 3 years , he may be a tad rusty , sent out on loan a few times latest being Hartlepool and they havent signed him tells its own tale.

Bloody frightening we’re are even looking at a player with that fewer games behind him in the last few seasons.
No wonder Chester are the bookies favorites and that in its self is embarrassing.

Yes definitely the bargain bucket we are delving in. Buts that’s where we are.
AB isn’t my choice at all but hope he does well.
Can we afford to stay in this division beyond this season?
