My prediction is that Trump won’t turn out to be as bad as many fear, and he’ll be nowhere near as good as he’ll make himself out to be. As ever time will tell.
While talk of the end of American democracy is far too early, it’s important not to normalise authoritarianism and sheer corruption to appear balanced when Trump has replaced a politically neutral bureaucracy with his lackeys:

It looks very much like “Project 2025” to me.
The Holocaust survivors warn us to “Be alert.” Or we will find ourselves in a very bad place.

Don’t think bill was referring to his mate Trump when he made such claims, however we are not privvy to what God is whispering in bill or Trump’s ear. Did I mention fruitcake on the football side awhile back?
January 29, 2025 at 11:03 am #298128Talk about Trump ‘controlling the narrative’ is rubbish. The whole of the US media were firmly on the side of Kamala Harris. All the polls had her winning the US election. All the talk about Trump was negative and filled with vicious lies. He won in spite of the narrative imo.
January 29, 2025 at 11:11 am #298129“All the polls had her winning the US election”
The polls in 2016 may have had a pro-Clinton bias, even though the polls were within the margin of error, but this is a load of nonsense. Most polls had the last election as a 50/50, with some favouring Trump slightly. The one Selzer poll which suggested otherwise was an outlier. Now pro-free speech Trump has said he will go after her for an incorrect poll. Last time I checked, a crap poll isn’t a crime, nor should it be, and it’s bizarre to see people who claim to be pro-free speech to try and justify it with nonsense about election interference.
Also, the whole of the US media was on Harris’s side? Really? Even Fox News? Anyway, all outlets have some degree of bias and anyone pro-free speech wouldn’t be against an opposing viewpoint being aired, even if biased. Yet criticisms in the media are being muted through fears of Trump retaliating because of his own threats, which go against the free speech narrative.
Yes, some liberal outlets have been cloying and hostile to other views, but this isn’t the right alternative.

Not only Fox News, Trump unfortunately has his admirers here.

January 29, 2025 at 12:58 pm #298137I believe that’s based off a blind poll, so mentioning the policies without stating the origin. There is a mood towards tighter immigration laws and against a feeling that some things are taboo to speak about, whether we agree with them or not. When it comes to Trump himself things are still against him in the UK.
