A phenomenal achievement: promoted despite constantly favourites for relegation and operating with the smallest budget in the league
May 31, 2021 at 7:38 pm #207850And getting a penalty that clearly wasn’t one!

June 1, 2021 at 8:39 am #207865Shouldn’t be allowed, how come a little club like them have achieved promotion, they should know their place.

ref must have been confused, Red shirts White shorts and Black socks, it must be something about that colour strip that gets dodgy penalties.
June 1, 2021 at 9:24 am #207869Not to mention the one Newport should have got when the Morecambe keeper punched their forward’s lights out!

June 1, 2021 at 9:42 am #207871Didn’t watch the final but can’t begrudge Morecambe promotion after such a fantastic season for them, an incredible achievement to turn things around after finishing just above relegation last time around.
Shame though, I’d rather have gone to Morecambe than Newport next season.
June 1, 2021 at 9:53 am #207873Yeah, lost my second closest away fixture.
Fingers crossed Hartlepool can win the NL playoffs.

June 1, 2021 at 10:40 am #207874All highest placed teams in the playoffs got promoted, is that a first?
June 1, 2021 at 10:41 am #207875Morecambe v. Sunderland will be quite the fixture next season though, NI!
June 1, 2021 at 11:49 am #207879Goes to show what can be achieved on a shoestring budget if you make the right signings (funnily enough it’s not by signing the likes of Jarvis, KDT and Mooney who had never scored a professional league goal between them). Songo’o also looked twice the footballer he ever did for us!

My Mackem mate has his season ticket for SoL.
Probably never seen Cheltenham play before either!
June 1, 2021 at 3:46 pm #207893Bit harsh on Songo’o, he was ok for us wasn’t he?
June 1, 2021 at 4:05 pm #207894Yep fantastic stuff from Morecambe wish them all the best, on Songo, he had some good games for us but for me he always came across a bit clumsy. Seemed to struggle to get the ball out from under his feet at times but maybe I’m being a bit harsh, I always expect a lot from new signings, I really should know better by now.

Odd that some seem to struggle to exit League One (door ajar) and ‘some’ breeze through it at the first go. Always a good day out at the SoL, and we usually have ‘refreshments’ at the Royal Navy Club in Roker Avenue.
June 1, 2021 at 5:58 pm #207899Ipswich were expected to breeze it too.
There’s no such thing as a dead cert in football.
June 1, 2021 at 6:57 pm #207903And that is exactly why I have optimism for next season NI,it’s a funny old game we love.
June 2, 2021 at 10:14 am #207913Forest spent years trying to get out of League One, they clearly felt they were too big a club for that league, same as the Mackems. Whereas Wolves & Leicester just got on with it & both walked the league.

Probably not unfair, I was quite impressed with him though, broke up a lot of play in front of a pretty poor back 4. We’ve not had that sort of player this season & it showed.
June 2, 2021 at 11:27 am #207914He replaced the role that Bish did. Morecambe declared as having the lowest playing budget in the league and they assembled a more than competitive squad.
