” you can’t legislate for turning the ball over, giving the ball away with poor passing in and around your own penalty area”
But you can practice not doing it, that’s what training’s for isn’t it?“we needed to do something because we weren’t at the races”
Same as last week then, another “training issue”” We’ve done a lot of work defensively in this last week but you wouldn’t have thought so today.”
You got that one right.” We’ll get back down to work, analyse what we need to do better with the players, be up for it and ready.”
Didn’t you try that last week? It didn’t work then and you’ve only got 2 days this time.“You expect players to go out, get a sweat on and work their socks off.”
That’s the least we expect, why doesn’t it happen then? As I said last week, if you don’t know why how will you fix it?October 22, 2022 at 8:39 pm #247296He’s way out of his depth.

October 22, 2022 at 8:46 pm #247299Sounds like a certain owner.

October 22, 2022 at 8:53 pm #247302I know the problems at this club are not his fault, but TD isn’t good enough to be a first team manager. He does a good job for the academy and that’s where he should be. It’s not fair on him that he has been thrown in at the deep end like this.

October 22, 2022 at 9:03 pm #247305I feel for him, at the end of his interview you can tell he’s desperate to make things better… the problem is he’s not going to.
Peter Swann is the only person who can sort this by F**King OFF!!!3 users thanked author for this post.
October 22, 2022 at 9:11 pm #247306Not his fault. Pushed over the parapet like the first day on the Somme.
Only paraphrasing those managers that came before him. Hardly going to say the squad isn’t good enough and we’re odds on for another relegation, is he?
He’s here because of the mess the Swanns have put us in. We know we should have a proper management team, but as long as the owner continues to play “deal – no deal” we’re stuck with the tea boy in charge of the factory.

Can you justify that by listing the first team regulars he’s produced in the years he’s been in the job?

October 23, 2022 at 11:01 am #247320There was quite a few at Bristol Rovers at the end of last season Tash. Only joking mate your statement is right.

October 23, 2022 at 4:37 pm #2473381 defeat in 7 league games and everyone wants the manager sacked again. Swann may be the biggest problem but we don’t help ourselves as fans.
October 23, 2022 at 5:15 pm #247340Well, Daws is only caretaker, so appointing a permanent manager wouldn’t be sacking him. It wasn’t sacking him when Knill took over from Baraclough, after Daws was in charge for a game or two. He’d most likely return to his usual role as academy manager.
Of course things are different now, and his caretaker stint is lasting longer due to the shambles the club is in. However, I am not convinced he is what we need long term. Sure, Swann is the bigger problem, but if we have any hope we need to have a proper manager in place. Though, I have little hope for this.
October 23, 2022 at 6:03 pm #247344I love the optimism that after Hill, Cox, Hurst, McCall, Daws N., Alexander, Robins, Wilcox & Laws, the next managerial appointment will be the one that makes the difference.
October 23, 2022 at 6:08 pm #247345I didn’t say that.
October 23, 2022 at 6:12 pm #247346Barra is available!
October 23, 2022 at 8:55 pm #247352As are:-
McSheffrey
Adkins
Alexander
Laws
Hill
and loads of others. Unless we can get somebody on a rolling monthly contract (unlikely unless desperate) then we’re stuck with what we have until the club is sold.
How likely is that? Ask Alcy!!October 23, 2022 at 9:08 pm #2473541 defeat in 7 league games and everyone wants the manager sacked again. Swann may be the biggest problem but we don’t help ourselves as fans.
I agree with the sentiment, but when the players don’t know what formation they are playing, it’s hard to stomach.

October 23, 2022 at 10:25 pm #247355We are in this dire mire due to Daws who has produced not one academy player who has made a decent regular contribution to the first team or been a saleable asset.
October 23, 2022 at 11:14 pm #247360No we are in this dire mire due to Swann, Daws is as much a victim as the fans. Don’t lose focus on the real problem behind the demise of our club.

October 24, 2022 at 3:22 pm #247384I didn’t say that.
Not in so many words but you did say that “Sure, Swann is the bigger problem, but if we have any hope we need to have a proper manager in place.” and my point, admittedly a bit heavy-handed, was that I wasn’t sure why anyone would think that any appointment would improve matters, based on recent years.
October 24, 2022 at 5:06 pm #247391Swann has had some decent managers in place. Some with very decent records both before they got here and after they left.
Suspect they had the audacity to think they knew more about football than a certain other figure at the club.
Alexander perhaps the biggest conundrum. Always seems to get sacked when his teams are in a reasonable position. Oh to be the position he left us in.

‘proper players’ is what’s required!
