Yeah failed. He didn’t get sacked for succeeding did he.

He lost his bottle and got exposed as someone with no plan B.

What did he got after promotion? 8 games? He barely had a chance to get going. I thought that was an embarrassing sacking but of course nothing compared to Alexander.

Wilcox was out of his depth and keeping him for that season would have been disastrous in my opinion. His record after us does nothing to convince me otherwise. He did well in building a robust team which got us promotion, but there were warning signs there with the amount of leads given away and a sluggish end to the season. I don’t think he had it in him to rejuvenate the squad and drag us away from 23rd position with a quarter of the season gone (which was where we were at when he was sacked, roughly).

Granted, the Alexander sacking was the wrong decision, but I don’t think we would have had those years if Wilcox was boss for longer.

I am not going to care that much about Wilcox not being given a longer shot at the job, as is likely, given the turgid entertainment and lack of belief that it will yield results. Bring on the new era for the manager, whoever it may be. Hopefully he can bring us happier times than what we’ve seen recently.
