October 28, 2024 at 8:48 am #292443prioritising a CEO over players I do not understand. I hope it’s not Jim, sorry James, Rodwell – surely we learnt from that fiasco.
Rodders took us to the cleaners.
£5K a week… for what?
He soon hightailed it when Swann eventually cut the budgets.
For five years, SUFC was the land of milk & honey.1 user thanked author for this post.

James Moody is my guess.
October 28, 2024 at 9:21 am #292446It’s neither Moody or Rodwell.

Glyn, then?
October 28, 2024 at 9:26 am #292448It’s someone who has not had a previous role at the club. I don’t think he will be known to many tbh. I won’t be saying more since the club hasn’t formally announced yet, so far as I know. However, as Mick West has said, some have seen him at the fan’s forum.

October 28, 2024 at 1:27 pm #292455I listened to that string of local clubs fans forums on Humberside . I was pretty impressed with all of them in truth ; Butler might have been the cheaper option but seems a good level headed guy . The board seem sensible and putting the club on a safer financial footing ,which I’m sure will translate to promotion this season .
You are in far better place than under Swann & Hilton that’s for sure so the future wiĺl be brighter for the Iron and most importantly you will have a safe and sustainable club .

Written today about Erik Ten Hag or yesterday about AB?

October 28, 2024 at 1:37 pm #292457I can only judge what I see, on Michelle Turnbull and Butler I’ve seen them weaken the squad, make an embarrassing offer to Butterfield forcing him out, then bring in a load of dross who cant even make the team and the one who has is now a liability.
And from what it now seems we’re going to take on another highly paid non playing staff member certainly not a priority in my books just like we didn’t need a catering manager at the moment.October 28, 2024 at 1:50 pm #292460Not enough stadium shenanigans, abusive social media accounts with doxxing and death threats, CCJs, unpaid wages, groundshares with Gainsborough, decrepit Glanford Park photos, children of owners as chief scout, refusing to pay staff because journalists uncovered information about owners, drug dealers as the unofficial club spokesman, claiming squatters’ rights, audio statements that get pulled after a day or moments of panic with the club going under. Sort it out, Michelle!
Mr Butterfield’s wife makes allegations, which are definitely 100% true.

What’s this Rich? A sensible objective opinion? You do know it’s not de rigueur round here these days? No, knee jerk petulance is the fashion I’m afraid. Then you’ve got belly laugh fare like this:
‘I’m no advocate of chopping and changing.’
October 28, 2024 at 2:32 pm #292462You forget all the positives and they did bring the feel good factor back albeit for a short time.
October 28, 2024 at 3:01 pm #292464Oh yeah, all the positives behind nearly killing the club through incompetence or malice. Got to remember those. Obviously much better than the horrors of appointing a manager who might not be good enough and a CEO.
October 28, 2024 at 3:16 pm #292465Only Awaywego could turn a silk purse into a sows ear, we all know his game it’s the same bull poop he’s served up since signing up to this forum. Peoples fan?, p**s off, more like the opposite for the sake of it. I believe he thinks he’s being funny.

That’s a whopper. Even by your standards.
October 28, 2024 at 8:20 pm #292474Pretty sure 99% of fans think Michelle has worked wonders and we will always be grateful.
It’s time Andy really repaid her faith and took us on an unstoppable run of form mixing up the tactics and going after 3 points and goals every match.
This league isn’t as difficult as we are making it look, we didn’t drop down and then severally cut the budget playing the youth team or going part time!!
The squad was heavily invested in and every club in the division looks to what with have with envy and admiration!!5 users thanked author for this post.
October 29, 2024 at 6:52 am #292480” I know we are under serious financial constraints and I understand why but prioritising a CEO over players I do not understand. ”
Haven’t we just spent the summer recruiting players?
So hardly prioritising a CEO is it?
We still have the spine of last year which failed us ,same pointless/pointing captain and ridiculous child up front . We cannot sack them and only have so much budget, thankfully a few overpaid players left .We could attempt to buy the league and fail like awaywego’s mate did and let the club rot.1 user thanked author for this post.

If promotion is the aim (and we all hope it is) then do we have the players to achieve that, they didn’t last year. So it’s not hard to argue that additions are required to achieve that and we are told that funds are available, how many points will the CEO win us?

October 29, 2024 at 9:56 am #292483The summer 64! the last signing if I remember rightly was on the 16/17 of July.
So that’s a scun United summer of 27 days against the full summer of 94 days, what a wasted opportunity.October 29, 2024 at 10:18 am #292484” I know we are under serious financial constraints and I understand why but prioritising a CEO over players I do not understand. ”

CEO… pretentious and aspirational and has no relevance to clubs outside of the premier league giants.
Operations Manager or Club Secretary sits better at our level.

October 29, 2024 at 1:31 pm #292492Just because there is an obvious need to be addressed (some squad additions) doesn’t mean you neglect another pressing need identified by the Board (a CEO). Unless many of you have experience of successfully running a football club that I’m not aware of?

October 29, 2024 at 1:37 pm #292493Michelle’s first mistake: thinking there wouldn’t be any supporters who seemed to value Swann and Toerag more than her and the current staff.
Michelle’s second mistake: underestimating how much time a fair number of fans found the time and will to nitpick and whinge at any available opportunity.
October 29, 2024 at 1:40 pm #292494United we stand? Hardly?
October 29, 2024 at 1:50 pm #292496Improving a football team should be the same as with any other business. Hold onto your best performers, get rid of the under performers and replace them with better. In the case of SUFC that should apply to playing staff, management and all other aspects from media to catering and back of house processes.
The fact that only one of our summer recruits is making the cut (whether he even should be is debatable) says we’ve failed to recruit anyone better than we had last year, whilst losing both of our previous ‘player of the seasons’. It’s also looking probable that we’ve had a downgrade on the management front and the much hyped catering guy has already gone to pot. Bringing in new players is necessary if we are serious in our aim of promotion, but even more crucial is being able to identify the right players (and people) to bring in. This is something we’ve been lacking for years. Is this part of the role of a CEO? I’m not so sure. A decent recruitment chap would more than cover his own wages if he was able to identify talent and we could pick up a transfer fee here and there.
” We cannot sack them and only have so much budget, thankfully a few overpaid players left .
The most overpaid player in the squad is Cal Roberts, imagine the state of us this season without him? He’s carrying the team on his back. But don’t worry he will be off the wage bill in the summer and we’ve got our trusty recruitment strategy to ensure a suitable replacement.
