January 18, 2024 at 9:27 am #279423To get the non playing payroll higher than the players again?
January 18, 2024 at 12:40 pm #279431I’m sure we all thought that she’d bring Louise back.
Who’s next… David Brent? That should have said David Beeby… maybe the machine knows best?
January 18, 2024 at 12:41 pm #279432Got to have qualified people in certain jobs. James and his gallant team did an amazing job to keep the club ticking over but they could not continue.
Louise knows the club, she is qualified and is highly rated by many and Michelle knows what is needed.

A good accountant, probably necessary after the state your Ilkeston buddy’s big pal left the club’s finances in.
January 18, 2024 at 1:19 pm #279435I’m sure she is good accountant, and the last person to leave the clubs finances in an healthy position was? Anyone would think that every other club was financially sound and our club must conform.
January 18, 2024 at 1:37 pm #279437There’s unhealthy and there’s critically ill, near end of life, etc
January 18, 2024 at 2:16 pm #279442The club appointing key people in key positions is the way to go. No coincidence the two positions appointed are both financial so the thinking is the extra money generated by those two will both surpass the money spent in hiring them.
As stated above, you can’t expect one person to keep doing 3 and 4 different jobs. We needed some structure putting back in place behind the scenes and that’s exactly what’s taken place.
Glyn Sparks was very highly spoken of from York City and did wonders there off the pitch and Harness trusts Louis Butler so you would have to say they are spot on appointments.

January 18, 2024 at 2:31 pm #279444Accountant’s don’t generate any money it’s not in their remit, had you forgot Glyn had only left the club 9 months ago WG. Not quite sure but wasn’t he one of the staff we let go because of the ridiculous amount of non playing staff we had before hilton came to town.
January 18, 2024 at 2:52 pm #279445Hilton had his way of dealing with that in order to swing the balance in favour of on field costs:-
1. Sign players on big money
2. Get rid of necessary non playing staff
Could be why the debts are so large?January 18, 2024 at 3:07 pm #279446You don’t need an accountant if you don’t want to pay bills or taxes correctly

I’d slip an edit in there if I were you!
January 18, 2024 at 3:21 pm #279449A good accountant is worth their weight in gold to a company, they can exploit all the financial loopholes available and save a lot of money which is a form of generating extra income.

January 18, 2024 at 7:32 pm #279473Thank God for Hilton at the time, wouldn’t have the players we have and wouldn’t have Smoking goat doing the catering (big shout for pat there said it needed new blood) Michelle saying the debt was only £1.2 million what’s the big deal that’s the minimum everyone was expecting Swanny to have left us with was it not.
January 18, 2024 at 7:41 pm #279475Embarrassing

Smoking goat is too much… Pats bacon cob with tea or coffee for two quid more like it… anyone still got his number?

It’s unfair to single out Iron-Awe. He seems fully aware of the issue now and realises the error of judgement. It’s not like Awaywego, who’s still trying to praise the charlatan who tried to kill the club for personal gain.

No it is.
The desire to become part of a clique, just like the three wise men over the way, nearly killed the club. You think the likes of them get a free pass? No chance.
January 18, 2024 at 8:01 pm #279484Yeah Pats fare was well priced and didn’t scimp on quality which brought the punters in every day of the week. Cant complain about the goat though best catering ever at glanny park, remember at the time when Hilton offered it out to contract the derision it got certain posters on here said no one would be interested.

It nearly did, but they were victims as the conned. Iron-Awe wasn’t even one of those who abused sceptics, if I remember correctly. It’s not like xxx or Pat O’Cake who spent months saying anyone who didn’t like Hilton wanted the club to fail, but even then I would say there’s room for moving on if they apologised*. I would hope the conned have humility over past poor judgement, but not everyone was privy to just how bad it was, and the validity of the murmurings/rumours behind closed doors. I understand it was frustrating at the time for those of us who knew the situation was dire, but ultimately there needs to be a unity and if people make the same mistakes again we can argue the toss about it then. Right now, I don’t think it is.
*I wonder what they think now that we are all behind Harness, given our apparent desire to kill the club.

Decent read and includes a few titbits people may not have been aware of and that do still effect the clubs current situation daily.

January 19, 2024 at 10:14 am #279498The old Mussolini made the trains run on time…. The last shelter of those desperate enough to defend the indefensible. He tried to destroy the club for personal gain, ending 124 years of local/community history – ‘yes but he employed somebody to do really nice burgers so it’s not all bad’

January 19, 2024 at 10:44 am #279501A useful analogy for this, but just for those who might be interested in general knowledge and ‘facts for the day’.

January 19, 2024 at 5:02 pm #279542Probably need to get rid of those Fujitsu computers!
January 20, 2024 at 5:11 pm #279599Mussolini couldn’t get the trains to run at all, let alone on time. People have been saying he did for so long, they have forgotten that it is bullshit.
