    Girona are in 2nd place in La Liga, level on points with top of the table Real Madrid.
    They are 7 points clear of 3rd placed Barcelona.

    Sánchez took Girona in to La Liga at the end of his first season (2021-22) in charge of them.

    They finished in tenth placed in La Liga in 2022-23.

    This season is only their 4th ever in the top tier in their history.

    Previously, he’d taken Huesca up to La Liga (2020-21) for only the second time in their history.

    In 2017-18 he gained promotion to La Liga with Rayo Vallecano.

    He seems to know what it’s about!

    If only we could unearth a manager of his calibre!

    Earlier today, Real Madrid were 0-2 down at half time to bottom of the league Almeria, who haven’t won a game all season.

    Real Madrid scored in the 90 +9 minute to win the game 3-2

    Girona are 4-1 up against Savilla after 56 mins.

    Girona won 5-1 and are a point in front of Real Madrid at the summit of La Liga, though Madrid now have a game in hand.
