Both offered contracts. Hallam is a perma crock and McAtee is as lazy a player you’ll ever find.
Why oh why have we offered both contracts ?
Am I missing something here ?. Hallam should have been one of the first one’s out the door. Talented when fit but the catch is….HE’S NEVER FIT.
Utter madness.

Topics: 11McAtee lazy… give over. If you mean he has talent and doesn’t run around like a headless chicken fair enough.
I remember plenty saying the same about KVV and now they’re allover social media crying that he’s left.

I remember a game in particular when we were holding on for dear life, brought McAtee on with about 15 mins left and he couldn’t even be arsed to close anybody down, he was walking around the pitch.
I remember Tom Newey was disgusted with his effort, or shall I say..lack of.
As soon as his agent came out with his wonder move to Newcastle, it seemed he downed tools.
If you think he plays with enthusiasm and shows great effort then you clearly need help.
You honestly being serious ?

May 13, 2021 at 8:09 pm #206948Hallam is an absolute stupid decision unless it’s a pay as you play type offer.
McAtee could be really good if he’s in the right head space and played often enough to get some momentum going without any distractions

May 13, 2021 at 8:24 pm #206954Hallam must be pay as you play. He’s managed about 5 games a season while he’s been here. He is a good player but that doesn’t mean anything sometimes.
McAtee is strange. Can’t see him signing certainly doesn’t play like he wants to be here.
Offered a contract so we’ll get a fee possibly? Is he of the right age for that to apply?
May 13, 2021 at 8:32 pm #206958I think he’s 21 so the contract offer is clearly to entitle us to a fee from his next club and probably not because he’s likely to stay… I can’t see him being here

May 13, 2021 at 8:44 pm #206963both offered to allow Scunny to command a fee. Doubt either will be here in a few weeks

May 13, 2021 at 8:48 pm #206965McAtee to Grimsby? (More likely than Newcastle)

I doubt that would be the case with Hallam. Who the hell is going to want him ?. In times like these you won’t get clubs on a budget after somebody who’s never fit.
May 13, 2021 at 8:59 pm #206968Why didn’t we offer Bedeau a contract to command a fee?
May 13, 2021 at 9:02 pm #206969Good question!!!
May 13, 2021 at 9:06 pm #206970Charlie Barks is another odd one. We only have 2 cb’s at the club. I always thought he looked a good player and surely could have been a decent enough 4th choice.
I’d rather we kept him rather than draft in a potential loan signing.

Topics: 11Maybe couldn’t afford for him to accept if he didn’t find better deal elsewhere?
May 14, 2021 at 12:24 am #206981We’re talking Charlie Barks here, not an established player on a large wage.
May 14, 2021 at 5:52 am #206983I think I recall that unless you match or beat the current salary with a contract offer – you will not get a payoff from a new club. If so, the Bedeau decision was the only logical one to take.
Interesting that a couple of months ago Cox praised McAtee’s attitude in training. I suggested a few weeks ago that Cox might want to see if he can get the best of a guy who has oodles of potential. It’s a big decision.
As for Hallam, this must surely be a pay reduction. If he is the only injury-prone player to survive the cut – it may be a risk worth taking but only if medical advice has offered a positive outlook for the future. Good player in there.
An element of risk with this pair – yes – but if it is just two players out of the squad and one out of the two comes off …
The thing about McAtee was that Hurst played to his strengths – mebbe Cox would like to try that too.May 14, 2021 at 8:29 am #206986don’t forget we got McAtee out of Shrewsbury reserves and had been on loan at Northern Premier League level clubs, so wasn’t probably a high earner here, I would love to see a fit Hallam and didn’t he have a operation to sort his problems.
May 14, 2021 at 8:48 am #206993Hallam is a perma crock
Can we move on from this sort of language? Now we’ve heard from so many players about the mental health challenges of being injured, can’t we be a bit more sympathetic?
I get where you’re coming from about protecting the club’s interests and wondering whether resigning him is a good option but there are better ways of saying that.
Maybe couldn’t afford for him to accept if he didn’t find better deal elsewhere?
Strange that the club didn’t go out of its way to say that a contract was offered then? Like they did for players like Eisa & Van Veen.

I never said it was his fault he was always injured but nevertheless he’s always on the injury table. In times like these with money thin on the ground, I fail to see what use he will be.
We all know how talented a player he is but if he’s never on the pitch to show it, it doesn’t count for much.
