So the first half side yesterday I imagine will start the first game of the season. The new signings looked so much better than last season.
Dewhurst made a few really good saves. 2 centre backs looked really solid. O malley could potentially be one of the best young players in the league?
If we can get Whitehouse and Butterfield playing together in the centre that could perfect. Feeney was okay but still think we need a winger or 2.
Nuttall and Daniel could make a pretty decent pairing. Think Nuttall always needed someone to play off him.
People calling for Hill need to remember he’s not had a pre season or any time to get a side together. From what I’ve seen his signings this season has improved us no ends.
What’s peoples thoughts?

July 17, 2022 at 9:15 am #240779Gallimore at RB before Rowe would be a surprise, to me anyway. Feeney has plenty to offer but I’m not sure he has the pace to be an out and out winger, maybe on the right of a MF 3 or a diamond if we have no wide left player?
July 17, 2022 at 9:39 am #240780I’m not going to get excited over a performance against Sheffield United defending that resembled a pub team.

July 17, 2022 at 10:26 am #240783To be fair our defending for their two goals was pub team standard.
No use going 2/3 nil up if you chuck it away in the last ten minutes.
And we’ve done that loads in the past few seasons.
July 17, 2022 at 10:32 am #240784but remember they had 3 regular defenders and midfielders in the starting line up, we played some lovely football first half and whether poor defending or not we would have missed those chances last season.

July 18, 2022 at 6:42 am #240826I thought we were excellent on Saturday, especially 1st half, players playing with commitment and attacking intent is something we haven’t seen for a long time. Dewhurst looks decent, just hope the fans don’t get on his back if he makes a mistake like they did with Rory. All the new lads did well I thought. Feeney didn’t look fit though.
The ground looked tidy and the young lads at the back of the DRE were brilliant trying to get an atmosphere going in an half empty ground.

July 18, 2022 at 8:42 am #240829We have been told that Dewhurst is on loan from t’Blades.
Reports locally keep saying things like ‘former Blade’.
Shall keep wandering into my garden today until I bump into my Blades-crazy neighbours and instigate a chat about football/friendlies etc – our win might even get a casual mention.July 18, 2022 at 9:25 am #240831The ground looked tidy and the young lads at the back of the DRE were brilliant trying to get an atmosphere going in an half empty ground.
Half-empty would be a pretty big crowd for us these days!

July 18, 2022 at 2:32 pm #240851Read the match report on sheff u site goalie definitely a loan agreement.
July 18, 2022 at 2:46 pm #240852no wide left player?
That Kevan Kahoussi we still have on trial…we tried to get him playing against Sheff Utd but had trouble getting international clearance but we’re hoping to get it for tomorrow’s match.
I don’t know how true this is but I did read that somebody who’s supposed to be in the know claimed he’d really impressed in his trial so far but we obviously need to see him in games.
Kahoussi could very well be the LW we end up signing…he’s supposed to be quick, he’s versatile as he can play upfront and out on the other wing as well.
Just need to see him now in a match situation.
July 18, 2022 at 3:04 pm #240854Hope your right about him WG, Green was quick and there it ended.

July 18, 2022 at 3:32 pm #240855Still desperately need a signing or two this week.
The Squad is desperately thin and we have 1 recognised striker. Hopefully the news on Wednesday may prove a catalyst for getting some bodies through the door.
July 18, 2022 at 4:13 pm #240857They just needed a nudge Cliff. Butterfield in. Based on Saturday he still has it.

On paper, this is a quality signing.
Lets get some strikers in now.
July 18, 2022 at 6:01 pm #240864The T&T lad is impressing. That may work.
Ntlhe covering LB and CB. It may work.
Still need two forwards. One urgently. Both on paper and what we could see in what was, admittedly, a friendly – I reckon KH has earned the right to try managing a squad for what, in reality, is the first time.

July 18, 2022 at 7:41 pm #240873While mentioning paper, we made the front page of the non league football paper, big colour photo, when did we make the front cover of any paper?.

Cods posted it on their forum while having a good chortle at our expense, fair enough that’s part of banter but a few were gob smacked when Butterfield signed. Made me smile a little 😂

Man Utd have had pub team defending for the past how many seasons now so should the opposition not get excited after a win against them?
