I must be missing something, but what’s the point of throwing money at new players when you haven’t got a cat in hells chance of being promoted this season? It doesn’t make sense.
Since when have practising fantasists and serial conmen made any sense?

Buying popularity? It worked here for a while.

February 18, 2025 at 5:19 pm #299146To plunge the club in to an imminent financial crisis and do a land grab? To confidence trick before really fleecing fans? Just wild guesses in the absence of any other possible explanation.

February 18, 2025 at 5:32 pm #299147He might be disappointed, the Matlock fan says that they don’t own the ground.
February 18, 2025 at 5:41 pm #299148I did say it was a wild guess. Maybe part of a long con to salvage reputation before moving on to a bigger prize?

That won’t stop him Cass. He will have his squatters rights sign on the gate before the weeks out.

February 18, 2025 at 6:53 pm #299152He’s the only director to have taken money out of the club/board in the last year or so ,despite what his minions are now claiming about our current board and loans. He did that despite taking the club to the brink ,leaving the debt he took over for others to deal with and and leaving a toxic fan base .They still worship him while claiming the current board are lining their own pockets

February 18, 2025 at 7:02 pm #299154The ground is leased to them, and appropriate covenants are in place.
Changed the company from a private company limited with Guarantee to a private company by limited shares.
So I guess in the long run he wants full control and seen has the majority of season ticket holders voted the change in its what they want has well.
Well at least something the investment in the team has come from the new investment in Donations yes donations not Loans how refreshing.

The DRE were singing Michelle’s name on Saturday, so the minions are not really heard outside their bubble.
February 18, 2025 at 7:20 pm #299156And you’ve about hit the nail on the head 64.
If he only left the debt he took over with which you said plus the £100,000 pay off then that’s not a bad achievement considering we’re now into having to seek a loan £65,000 a month and obviously he was paying an higher player wage bill by all accounts, he was here 8 months even at 65k a month that would have accrued another £520,000 in debt.
Maybe didn’t do such a bad job after all.
February 18, 2025 at 7:31 pm #299157Keep banging away. You’re the pretty much the only one, bar Herbert, who is still deluded enough to think the man who brought the club to facing oblivion did a good job. The lack of wages being paid should have been a big hint as to his finances. If you believe that his hurt feelings explain or justifies not paying staff, then I have a bridge to sell.
February 18, 2025 at 7:34 pm #299158I didn’t say that did I ? I said he left the debt he took ,I never said he didn’t add to it.
February 18, 2025 at 7:43 pm #299159I think awaywego’s just bitter about missing out on a few trips to Gainsborough before the club folded leaving more Saturdays to spend with ”er indoors’
February 18, 2025 at 7:53 pm #299160The guy couldn’t lie straight in bed, made up stories about his ‘hurt’ and fans throwing stuff at his car, turned the fanbase against each other and the club were days away from oblivions all the while this pathetic example kept pulling out the ‘look at me I’m depressed and hurt….’ he always has an excuse. 15 counts of illegal activity, driving the club into the ground, stopped paying suppliers, stopped paying staff – there was always a’look at me’reason….when it comes out, guess what….

February 18, 2025 at 8:15 pm #299161Due Diligence? Due Dillinger more like…
February 19, 2025 at 12:15 pm #299179Guess Matlocks due diligence on him was flawed.

We know Awaywego’s agenda, he craves attention and back in the seventies he got it by running down the street on away days shouting Iron Iron and punching and kicking anyone who got in his way. These days as an old man he can’t fight anymore so he gobs off rubbish on here to get attention, best ignored if truth be told.
February 19, 2025 at 1:25 pm #299185Professional fruadsters tend to be proficient at gaining trust. I imagine Matlock’s due diligence was less thorough than Swann’s aswell.
February 19, 2025 at 1:29 pm #299187Maybe, but Swann’s due diligence wasn’t much given he soon found out that Hilton had swindled him and came to post on here about him being hoodwinked. Some of it could have been hidden, but given it all swapped over to Hilton so quickly, I don’t think there was that much scrutiny.

February 19, 2025 at 2:36 pm #299190I know we’re the same age within a week of each other Ironawe but don’t put me in the same bracket as you I’m far from being a doddery old man.

Calm down old man, not good getting too excited at your age.

Blimey, that begs a question :)

The biggest number is not always the best offer. A textbook example of that.

February 19, 2025 at 6:55 pm #299212Surely you must have realized bye that me and Ironawe are one of the same Deerey, we just have a multiple personalities disorder, I’m the dominant one you’ll see from who joined Bru first me just a day before.
Finding it hard to determine who’s good cop who’s bad cop lol.February 19, 2025 at 8:26 pm #299216My wondering was more a parentage thing tbh. Families do possess the biggest revelations.

True. Be interesting to hear the views of the Matlock fan that came on here the other month and see what reassurances the club has had.

February 20, 2025 at 5:07 pm #299226Aye I’m sure WHAM’s reassurances will be cast iron solid and such a comfort to the trusting Matlock faithful.
February 20, 2025 at 5:19 pm #299227For ‘assurances’ read ‘covenants’, as in the statement below. Hope they’re legally binding.
‘The current directors of the club have worked hard with the approved investor over the last few months to ensure there are covenants in place to ensure the future of the club and mitigate against any risks from external investment. The investor was keen to ensure that extra protections were in place to remove any doubt of a lack of future sustainability.’
February 20, 2025 at 5:28 pm #299228More the reassurances of the fa and the recommendation from the committee on their due diligence of him, was Hilton there at the season ticket holders meeting?
Down to individual choice, deffo relegation without investment (they said they couldn’t afford to stay in that division) without outside investment, or take the chance with Hilton.
Not like they’ve anything to lose they don’t own the ground but seem to have covenants on it, so if they have to start again if it goes tit’s up hardly much of a fall in leagues.
February 20, 2025 at 6:46 pm #299229‘The current directors of the club have worked hard with the approved investor over the last few months to ensure there are covenants in place’
As an afterthought, I sincerely hope these are covenants they set up and not scraps of ‘legally binding’ paper Dave gave them.
