MOTD viewing figures were bound to rise due to curiosity as to how they were going to show the highlights. I expect they may be even higher this Saturday to see what Lineker’s opening words are.

March 13, 2023 at 1:39 pm #257218If the BBC want to maintain this impartial stance malarkey they insist is so important to them then they have to start addressing some of their political commentators when interviewing politicians to correct them in interview when they don’t tell the truth. If Braverman had been pulled up live on air when she linked the word Holocaust to Lineker’s tweet and told ” that isn’t true, that isn’t what he tweeted “, a lot of this nonsense could have been avoided. All politicians who come bleating and distracting a phoney case to the BBC should immediately be shown a red card, it would end there.

March 13, 2023 at 3:28 pm #257228The BBC could have decided at this time to freshen it up and get rid of lineker, shearer and wright instead of leaving them looking like right twats. The same as sky did with le tissier Thompson and Nicholas but when they got sacked wright didn’t show solidarity,le tissiers calling him out now over it.
March 13, 2023 at 3:31 pm #257229The same logic as lineker bolting a comment about the boat people when he’s a football presenter Deerey.

Wright doesn’t work for Sky. What was he supposed to do? Walk out of a job he didn’t have? That wasn’t due to issues over free speech either, so not really analogous.

March 13, 2023 at 3:52 pm #257234That’s exactly what le tissier said S, “he didn’t even work for them”so could have just backed them or could have just said nowt, but no he goes on Twitter with a video take a look yourself it’s not hard to find. LOL.
March 13, 2023 at 4:35 pm #257239Wright gets a wage from the BBC. Le Tissier is hardly a measured source.
March 13, 2023 at 4:50 pm #257242Will no longer watch MOTD.
March 13, 2023 at 5:31 pm #257246‘Le Tissier’s calling him out now for it’. Wow, he must be gutted 🤣
March 13, 2023 at 5:41 pm #257247Good article here featuring Le Tissier. I’m sure some on here will warm to him even more after reading what a fine upstanding citizen he is 🤣

March 13, 2023 at 6:18 pm #257249Le Tissier is probably one of a number of people who were effected mentally during lockdown and no it’s not because I disagree with him on most things political it’s just that when I’ve seen him interviewed or seen him discussing such matters on you tube, he doesn’t come across as a very balanced individual. Just my opinion of course but he was still a wonderful football with perfect balance.

March 13, 2023 at 6:59 pm #257256And worthy of support from Ian Wright Ironawe? Or derision which he gave them. “What they done” “3 white middle aged men who got the sack” “kiss my teeth”.

March 13, 2023 at 7:40 pm #257262Oh, stop crying, it’s embarrassing.
March 13, 2023 at 7:57 pm #257265I think that the junior doctors strike is much more of an issue than a pathetic ex footballer who, let’s face it, won fuck all.
Pay the guys, it’s terrible that people who make coffee get more money.

March 13, 2023 at 8:25 pm #257269Junior doctors striking is a different issue. ‘Pathetic ex-footballer’ is just personal. What he didn’t win, is irrelevant. People getting paid more for making coffee is irrelevant to this topic.
March 13, 2023 at 8:34 pm #257271Yes but they do love their job that’s got to be worth something letting them do it, can’t imagine making coffee would give them the same job satisfaction.

March 14, 2023 at 9:27 am #257291Yes there does appear to be a few right wingers on here bleating about the fact Gary Lineker is back on the telly and the ERG are also kicking off in the Tory party, apparently talking about stopping funding of the BBC,again. So basically we want you to be impartial BBC but if you don’t see things from our viewpoint we could cut your funding, very democratic that.😂
March 14, 2023 at 4:46 pm #257335‘Completely ignoring the radio, world service and programmes that people value that no other TV company would make. Internet/media prices rising by more than 10% so how many subscriptions would people need to replace the value lost from the BBC?’
Worth considering … which I hadn’t because I don’t use any of them so hadnt thought beyond TV. Maybe a Govt subsidy if they are deemed socially valuable and making a difference internationally. I’m still not persuaded that I should have to finance the Beeb in order to watch ITV or Yesterday.1 user thanked author for this post.
March 14, 2023 at 5:31 pm #257341TBF JI you could make the same analogy about the Royals but there we all are contributing to their civil list money every year, some things are ingrained in our culture and the BBC appears to be one of them.
