Are you going to get your dad on to me troll?
Could be quite difficult, I suspect he probably doesn’t know who it is.😎
February 25, 2021 at 11:16 pm #202793My money’s on Alcy or Awaywego
February 26, 2021 at 8:52 am #202794“They (the press) were destroying my mental health. I had to get my family out of there”.
Who is the hypocrite now? It appears that Bucks mental health radar is selective and does not apply to all.
I’ll answer for you.
HYPOCRITE!!!
February 26, 2021 at 11:07 am #202800Of course he is, Heathy.
Despite the overwhelming evidence of bias about the press and Markle, there will always be some people who refuse to believe it, no matter how convincing.
That’s because about ten per cent of the population is stupid, and dislike facts which contradict how they want to see and understand the world. This can happen with anything, and does, e.g. with global warming.
The opposite is true, too. No matter how unbelievable, ridiculous, far-fetched, or evidence-free something is, there will always be about ten per cent who believe it. For example, rumours such as Michael Gove being attacked by hungry beavers at London Zoo, Priti Patel deporting Sandy Toksvig, Trump being lined up as the next Dr Who, or Johnson going to Mars, all get started on social media and they’re immediately shared thro’ re-tweets by the credulous. And next thing, they’re trending!
You could find Johnson saying he wants to close the steelworks, forcibly sterilise the people of north Lincs., and declare war on the Chinese, and guess what – you’d still get people like Bucksiron saying it was a great idea, and how the Tory party, more than any other, deserve our support!
There’s a short, amusing video of Ricky Gervais discussing this oddest of odd phenomena.
So, despite all the dreadful media treatment of Markle, it’s no surprise BI and a handful of others are still reluctant to accept the truth – that the right-wing press hate her because their mindset is racist, sexist, and class-ridden, just like many of their readers. They hate her because, having been admitted to British royalty as a black woman, she confidently refuses to be ground down, or to put up and shut up, about what she sees as unfair or wrong. And to his credit, her husband stands firmly by her, fired by the brightly-burning memory of how the very same press hounded his mother to the grave.
Really BI, you claim you aren’t racist and that you defend women’s rights, and even expect socialized protection for those with mental health issues. And yet, you apparently support this vicious and nasty press. I don’t know how you sleep or live with yourself. It must be most depressing.
February 26, 2021 at 1:33 pm #202805“Priti Patel deporting Sandy Toksvig”.
Gurny, please tell me that one’s true!!!
February 26, 2021 at 2:17 pm #202811Yet another rant, Gurny. You really are rattled.
Now you’ve turned to your usual defence, which is to make completely false accusations about me, what I believe and what I am. You don’t actually have a clue. On top of that, of course, it’s all down to the media, which for all their faults are nothing like as powerful as you like to believe, and the lies, lies, lies of all those you hate; and I use the word ‘hate’ because that is what you’re full of.
This is sad given how much you like to position yourself as a ‘caring’ individual. Yet you fail to recognise or understand that caring is about far more than political ideology. Just because someone is on the left doesn’t make them any more — or less — caring than anyone else. There are good and bad people of all political persuasions, religions and colour, but that doesn’t suit the political narrative of the left.
Whatever you might believe, the plain truth is that people can see straight through you. Your comments are baseless and offensive.
February 26, 2021 at 4:16 pm #202820This thread, like many others, was pottering along amicably until you launched in with your “complete hypocite” and racist accusations banging on completely off topic on anti-Semitism in the Labour party.
And now you are crying again about comments that are “baseless and offensive”.
You are right, the plain truth is people can see right through YOU.
February 26, 2021 at 4:17 pm #202821Get well soon Buck’s, keep fighting.
February 26, 2021 at 4:21 pm #202822And what were you saying about the “caring” Tories? Right on cue:
February 26, 2021 at 4:44 pm #202824It was pottering along quite nicely until my stalker appeared too. In a frivolous frame of mind last night so thought I’d wind it up. I’m following the guidance on dealing with trolls on the internet now and simply ignoring the weirdo.
February 26, 2021 at 6:47 pm #202832He/she may well be along later DM to test your resolve, unless of course he/she ( no sexism here folks ) is still looking for their birth certificate.
February 26, 2021 at 6:47 pm #202833This thread, like many others, was pottering along amicably until you launched in with your “complete hypocite” and racist accusations banging on completely off topic on anti-Semitism in the Labour party.

Spot on, Heathy. His attempts at distraction are so lame – like shouting at the buses as they pass by!
Patel and Toksvig? We can all dream…
February 26, 2021 at 7:02 pm #202835Cockwomble, (noun) a person, usually male, prone to making outrageously stupid statements and/or inappropriate behaviour while generally having a very high opinion of their own wisdom and importance.
No names, no pack drill.1 user thanked author for this post.
February 26, 2021 at 7:34 pm #202836There has been a shameful culture of silence regarding the anti-Semitism row in Labour across the party membership, it has to be said. So I can understand how it does rankle Conservatives when those who support Labour damn others for racist if they haven’t made it clear if they oppose anti-Semitism in Labour. Gurn’s comments about having no idea about the response to anti-Semitism being adequate or not doesn’t wash when the EHRC report made it quite clear that it wasn’t, and it was well publicised.
That said, I am not sure what the good is trying to get Gurnelista to condemn it on unrelated threads. When people demand Bucks to answer for misdemeanours of Tories he points out that he doesn’t necessarily agree and shouldn’t be tarred based on inference. The same should apply for Gurnelista surely.
I am not trying to take a side here. I am sincerely trying to frame it as measured as I can. I don’t think the response of those who ignored anti-Semitism in Labour while encouraging people to vote for it was great, but I don’t think that it necessarily makes them anti-Semitic. It’s true that the anti-Semitism scandal didn’t illicit much response and if people, like Bucks, want to say that is something they should account for, then I see that as being a fair view. However, I try to refrain from explicitly labelling someone as anti-Semitic or racist until they demonstrate such views.
Corbyn did when he defended that mural and laid wreaths to the Munich terrorist. I feel free calling him such for that and many of his fans for their abuse of Jews. I am not seeing it in this thread though, so I am going to refrain until Gurnelista or someone else proves otherwise.
February 26, 2021 at 7:37 pm #202837On topic, I do think that some of the criticism of Harry and Meghan have been racist. The threads Gurnelista showed does demonstrate Kate Middelton getting let off the hook for similar ‘wrongs.’ Not all dislike will be, obviously, and I can see why may be seen as pious and self-righteous. However, I do not think that much of the press discourse has been healthy in how they have been hounded, sometimes for innocuous things.
Ultimately, I am more disgusted at another royal who palled with Epstein over these two, even if they are being holier than thou.
February 27, 2021 at 12:17 am #202839Personally I find it difficult to summon up the will to fuly engage with this topic given the s***storm our right wing press inflict on a daily basis that affect every day people. That’s not to deter from the issue and the many good points made in the thread, just a bit apathetic about the whole shebang.
February 27, 2021 at 9:20 am #202842Latest British media bullshit about Harry and Megan, the bus top interview with James Corden in the USA, yes that’s the USA where they live. The Queen apparently was doing a zoom meeting in Great Britain, where she and we live and was encouraging people to take up the vaccine as to help the nation get through this pandemic as quickly as possible, very commendable and I applaud that. The British press say Harry stole the Queens thunder by the interview he did in the USA and was viewed in the USA at a similar time. Absolute bollocks, the British press were not forced to report the Harry interview but did and the USA are not bothered when the Queen is on zoom talking to Britain’s about what is happening in Britain, so keep your nose out British press. Really any bloody stick these so-called journalists can find to stir shit and apportion blame to Harry and his family is unbelievable, hypocritical shite and we should call it out for what it is. The Queen should have a clear field my arse, the Yanks are the most insular nation around and are interested in what goes on in their own patch rather then Lizzie Dripping given a PR shout out to our vaccine program in Britain. Give it a rest British Press, you bunch of shit stirring hypocrites.
February 27, 2021 at 10:09 am #202845All deflection from reporting the real issues like the Brexit calamity and the government’s handling of the pandemic. Nearly every day the Mail have a cover or main feature on the Royals and avoid reporting the real mess out there.
February 27, 2021 at 10:10 am #202846Has a lot to do with my apathy towards it. Our people lap it up. What’s the point?
February 27, 2021 at 10:33 am #202848If it wasn’t Meghan and Harry it would be Chantelle and Dylan from “Love Island at first sight on ice” or such like.
The Great British unwashed are obsessed with the cult of celebrity.
Like Deerey I try not to give it any attention.
February 28, 2021 at 9:11 am #202887I tend to agree with the comments above about the royals, but the press examples illustrate so well the vicious double standards the popular press apply to those individuals they don’t like, and the pathetic reasons why.
February 28, 2021 at 10:50 am #202891Oh aye, none of that is in dispute. I go from being incredulous about it to apathetic. Currently in the latter mode. It won’t last…
March 2, 2021 at 10:44 pm #202992Gurnelista, please can you show any actual evidence of the Press being racist towards Meghan Markle?
March 3, 2021 at 9:36 am #203005Unfortunately the polarised nature of this topic will lead to the latest bullying allegations to be divided along tribal lines. Meghan may be a bully, but there will be those who will defend her because of the overly attacking nature of the press over small issues and any evidence behind this will be ignored because critics of Meghan have been too willing to use superfluous nonsense to cloud their judgement of her in the past.
Bullying is a serious allegation, and is not to be taken lightly. Unfortunately the nature of how both sides of the political boundary have treated the Markle issue and bullying by authority means it will be defended along polemicised lines, not defending of victims. I can foresee people talking about coincidences of timing with regards to the Markle story, just as Priti Patel apologists did with her. Even if the timing is suspicious, and it has been leaked in a petty rivalry by Royal aides, it shouldn’t detract from the seriousness of bullying allegations.
Nor does Royal hypocrisy over Prince Andrew, whose allegations are still more serious.
March 3, 2021 at 10:25 am #203008Gurnelista, please can you show any actual evidence of the Press being racist towards Meghan Markle?
To be racially prejudiced, you don’t need to say ‘You are a fkn nxxxxx’.
In this country, racism is often subtle. It’s more about treating people differently, about exclusion, about bias. It can even be polite and unconscious, as these articles point out, from a country steeped in racism who understand it far better.
And many others online.
Even Harry admits he initially had a blind spot about it.

And there’s a book…
Examples from the British press? Just see the links earlier in this thread. They play to the racist gallery to sell papers.
And now “royal aides” say MM was a bully. Well, if she’s found guilty of bullying staff members, she should resign as Home Secretary immediately!
March 3, 2021 at 11:00 am #203013As should Nicola Sturgeon according to the Tories yesterday, the day before Ms Sturgeon was due to give evidence (now).
Apparently breaking the ministerial code is a resigning matter!!!!
Did they check with Johnson, who clearly rates it as a badge of honour.
March 3, 2021 at 11:35 am #203020It’s about time Sturgeon’s halo is smashed. The sort of cronyism and corruption we have seen in the Tories is present in the SNP and they too play into divisive nationalism. They are not the warm and cuddly progressives some make it out to be.
However, the partisan nature of the Tories makes it difficult for them to criticise the SNP for wrongdoing. They always have an excuse for such when Tories do it, but it becomes a problem when the SNP do it (and it works vice versa, to be fair).
Politics has become polarised. It won’t improve, however, until Tories, Labour, SNP and all alike call out wrongs on their own side, but all too often they have just wagged fingers elsewhere and gone into whataboutery because damning the other is the most important factor.
Anyway, I digress.
March 3, 2021 at 11:56 am #203021There are several ways of looking at this bullying issue which is now raising its head about Megan, first it needs investigating to see if there is any truth in these rumours and at the moment that is what they are. Piers Morgan this morning said there were plenty of reports confirming this to be true but never gave concrete examples, rather Trump like, are we surprised there? However most PR is to do with timing and what perfect timing to release a story about Megan Markle bullying members of her staff a few days before the Harry and Megan interview in the USA gets broadcast. The royals as usual will be furious about what is about to be revealed as it just allows more light on the subject about how royals behave to outsiders, Harry’s mum being a prime example. The treatment of Diana came back to bite them in the arse and I suspect aspects of the forth coming interview will do the same, we shall have to wait and see. However there is no need of any British media to cover the interview unless they choose too and then when they do they will accuse the couple of attracting more media attention, well certainly in America which is where they now make their money but only over here unless our media choose to chase them all the time. Interesting point when Morgan said this morning that there are not the same amount of monarchies around like there used to be, his words not mine and if this is true maybe people should ask why. It’s the 21st century folks, everything has its place and relevance in time and most things have a shelf live. Just saying.
March 3, 2021 at 12:11 pm #203022‘However most PR is to do with timing and what perfect timing to release a story about Megan Markle bullying members of her staff a few days before the Harry and Megan interview in the USA gets broadcast.’
Aye. Like you said, let’s see what evidence comes out. No denying something like this isn’t a tried and tested snake oil PR ploy though. I’m sure they’ll have a phrase for it maybe more endearing than ‘a load of horse s***!’
March 3, 2021 at 12:14 pm #203023Not forgetting true or not, a useful diversion from the government and Sunak’s budget and the effect it’s going to have on the poorest members of society. ‘Nothing to see here, over here, over here, look at that effin Markle!’
