At least it’s another striker through the door. Even more surprisingly we paid a fee !

17 games for Hartlepool, zero goals and zero assists and we paid a fee for him 🤣.

Judgement will be reserved until seeing him pull on an Iron short but please forgive me for being underwhelmed.

Not much encouragement from ‘pools fans. The fee might be undisclosed if it’s embarrassingly low, possibly toffees?

Has done well in the lower Leagues before, 6ft 1 and knows the level – potebtially someone for Nuttall and another striker to play off, and gives us a bit more presence from set pieces.

People need to lower their expectations, and also stop judging players before they have got onto the pitch…

Saw him many times at Chorley. Decent signing I believe.

Didn’t make it with the monkey hangers in L2, but had been pretty tasty in NLN previously. I’m thinking that with us, in this league, he might have found his level.

Good to see a striker finally arrive.
Had a decent stint in the NLN so hopefully he can replicate that form with us, rather than his time at Hartlepool.

Another striker, CB and left winger and we should be about there

Nice for another striker to come in. As mentioned above, he did really well in NLN so hopefully he replicates that form here. Still need another more proven striker either lower league two or national league goalscorer.

As stated above, another CB, ST and left sided attacker..we’ll be ok.

I know Hill isn’t a fan of the loan system but, as we only have 1 in there’s room there. I wouldn’t be averse to a young striker from the EFL and I wonder if Peplow is still in the frame when fit.

Southport fans really rated him which is a plus, one or two think they would have got promoted if he had stayed

One of those mysteries we may never know. Kahoussi was here and was impressing in training from what I read and he disappeared and the club never said a word about it. I know Hill liked Peplow but then he turned his ankle and not heard anything since.

maybe he chose to sign due to his connections with the town … doesnt didnt he or his family have a fish n chip shop on Ashby Hight St ???, be handy after a a game to go work OT in the chippy to make up his money..

Pleased to see a striker coming , all be it with a poor record from his Hartlepool spell, lets hope he isnt feeding off scraps and batters our opponents in the NL… i will get my coat !!!!

Disclaimer … Carvers may have closed down its a long time since i was in Ashby.

Given the ages of our strikers,Scunthorpe have given them a chance to kick start their careers, let’s hope they are ambitious enough to take up the challenge

Perhaps surprisingly the OWS seems to be up to date with the first team squad. Further evidence of the club doing things better these days?

    https://www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk/teams/first-team2/

They have moved Gallimore from up front to midfield since adding the Carver signing.

I reckon only Beeston and Nuttall likely to start from the team that waved the white flag so vigorously at Bristol.

On that basis I am going to be optimistic until proved otherwise.

No surprise Hallam is out again with the same fecked hamstring. It will get to a point even for him in the near future when he’s got to acknowledge that his body simply can’t withstand the strain of training.

I suspect this may be the last go now for him and if this doesn’t go well it’s curtains.

Hallam needs to go see that doctor abroad who puts animals livers or whatever strange things on damaged muscles

Tony Macmahon looks as fit if not fitter then the squad and could probably play 90 mins anytime, he also led the squad in all the preseason runs.
