Hearing Watson has possibly broken his finger and we are calling up a 16 year old to the 1st team.
Hopefully not true- we are facing an uphill battle as it is and this would be a major setback.
November 20, 2021 at 10:37 am #218166We’d qualify for an emergency loan if that were the case.
November 20, 2021 at 11:06 am #218167Signed kieran O’hara on emergency loan from Burton

November 20, 2021 at 1:47 pm #218171Should add a bit of bite to the team!
November 20, 2021 at 4:57 pm #218177Nowhere near good enough. Don’t care what anyone says- we are 3/4 signings away from staying up.
Shocking.

November 20, 2021 at 5:01 pm #218178Simple truth.
Mansfield were comfortably the better side and showed us how to control a game.
Appalled by Perry’s dithering for the third and the defensive gaps which opened in our penalty box on a pretty regular basis. In truth, Mansfield are as good as any side I’ve seen this season – far superior to Donny as regards teamwork. Glad we do not have to play them every week!

We take the lead and can’t hold on to it.
How many points have we dropped in this way?1 user thanked author for this post.

November 20, 2021 at 5:20 pm #218182…and rescued 1 point from losing positions
How many records Swann has on his tenure is staggering – and I’m not talking good records.
Poor old Keith

November 20, 2021 at 5:38 pm #218184Two issues which have not changed:
1) Losing possession – often by regularly lumping the ball hopefully upfield – has to stop.
2) Giving your own guy who is in possession outlet balls is a must. When you don’t support your teammates, you immediately need to refer back to point 1.2 users thanked author for this post.
November 20, 2021 at 5:55 pm #218187Calling Loft a striker is an insult to other strikers.
All the players need to realise keeping us up is their only chance of playing league football because NON of them stand a chance of getting in any other league side.

Terrible today, extremely lightweight for a big guy. Sadly there is no alternative at present. ( Please don’t suggest Jarvis!!)

November 21, 2021 at 12:33 am #218217The club have about five forwards on their books, but not one of them is worth a toss, and for Loft to be classed as one is crazey, he cannot direct a shot on target, and that penalty he took the other week which went 6 foot wide, is a prime example, he is rubbish.
Keith must be thinking, how can a football league team be as bad as SUFC !!!.
It looks as though it is the same as last season when there were three terrible teams at the bottom, Grimsby, Southend and ourselves, this year is going to be the same with Oldham, Carlisle and us again, so its a toss up which two go down, and this time we may not be so lucky.

November 21, 2021 at 4:21 am #218218A points gap is starting to appear and IMO by January we may have missed the boat regardless who Hill signs .. Carlisle also looking bad whilst Oldham do still have enough to scrap a win or two. Hopefully any other clubs will fall away and go on a loosing streak ..thats our only chance to stay up with this current mob.. if i were a betting man sadly it would be in us dropping out the league this year.
i watched the “Highlights” and i use the term loosely .. also the excellent Ironarmy YT vlog as Gareth is always fair n balanced.
Fans were great .. team and performance shambolic defending and piss weak attack.
Wilson not getting a sniff ..not even keeping the bench warm.

November 21, 2021 at 9:52 am #218227See, this is snother mystery.
When Hill was touted as coming, those in the know on here seemed to be saying he’d favour Pugh over the loanees and that Wilson would surely get some game time.
Indtead we are back with the same set of players, seemingly different formats every week, but much the same set of results.
What has actually changed?November 21, 2021 at 10:39 am #218234Hartlepool next for me
I’d set off now!

November 21, 2021 at 10:45 am #218235Time for a bit of perspective.
Hill has been here 15 days. Had 4 games in that time so has had about 5 days training with the team.
He has inherited a team not match fit enough to play the high tempo pressing game he requires.
He has taken over a team that have been actively trained for 18 months to drop back into shape and hoofing it upfield as far and as quickly as possible.
Out of the 3 players brought in to add experience to the young squad 2 are injured and 1 is well short of match fitness.
Whenever we play a half decent team who are prepared to work hard (e.g. Mansfield) we are going to get beat.
When we play a shite team or a team going through the motions (e.g. Salford) then we might get a result.
When Hill gets them match fit (a month?) and when he can add 2 or 3 genuine League quality players (mid January Swann permitting) then we might win a few points against half decent teams as well.
Let’s be realistic here. Matching last seasons position will be hard graft and a minor miracle. Like most I remain furious with the arrogance and incompetence that has put the club in this position but the manager and the players are the ones we have and they are going to need all the help and support that they can get.
Keep the ground and ownership on the back burner for now and try and help the team and manager to somehow make the great escape.
It could be worse – we could be Manure fans.

November 21, 2021 at 11:31 am #218241Coat, hat, gloves, scarf!
Just knew when the fixtures came out it would be December or January.
Remember my son and I setting off one year around Christmas/New Year time only for it to be called off around 1pm. We had only got as far as Newcastle. Others were not so lucky!
November 21, 2021 at 12:47 pm #218246He has inherited a team not match fit enough to play the high tempo pressing game he requires.
So play a game to suit the tools you’ve got.

Some big ifs in there!
It could be worse – we could be Manure fans.
I know you’re joking but it does annoy me that Man United are supposed to be in “crisis”. Come down the bottom of League Two lads, we’ll show you what a crisis looks like!
I admire your optimism, I think Hill is probably as good a manager as we could hope to get, but I don’t think people really realise just how bad a squad we have. Not many bright sparks in it!

November 21, 2021 at 2:37 pm #218258Ferrite the only way to get fit enough to play high tempo and high press is to play it in matches. You can train for it pre season but not when you have games coming. Especially when you have a Tuesday/Saturday coming up.
The enforced break for FA Cup round 2 weekend will allow some hard fitness work to be done.
I suspect one or two are getting in the team because they are closer to lasting the pace than rather than because they are playing well.
Pugh allegedly got into trouble not training hard enough with Cox so maybe he has further to go than some to get to the required fitness levels. Wilson has no competitive 90 minute appearances to draw on so probably not being considered for that reason.
Kenyon is the only one clearly unfit who is starting I assume for his experience. Counted for nothing when the Mansfield midfielder left him like a beached whale then picked his spot for their equaliser.

November 21, 2021 at 7:38 pm #218262So…. let’s stick to players who we know either can’t or won’t?
Or take a chance and give some others chance to make a difference?
1 user thanked author for this post.
November 21, 2021 at 7:48 pm #218265I’m not sure how long I can buy into the not fit story for Kenyon, he couldn’t get near the number 8 for their equaliser and he wasn’t exactly full sprint.
Still gutted after yesterday’s game. We are so far below the necessary standard, it’s scary.

November 22, 2021 at 8:55 am #218275The enforced break for FA Cup round 2 weekend will allow some hard fitness work to be done.
This is true but I’m not sure I buy the whole fitness issue, you hear it every time a new manager comes in, unless there’s some hard data on display I am going to be a bit cynical about how true it is.
I still think the best option for this team would be some good old-fashioned hoof ball. No messing about at the back, defend deep and cause defences headaches with plenty of balls in behind.
November 22, 2021 at 9:41 am #218277But hoofing it forward will only work if you have players able to win a decent amount of those hoofs and stop the ball coming straight back. We don’t have any forwards capable of winning more than about 1 in 20.

Get one of the centre backs up front as a battering ram!
