Should be interesting to see the verdict and punishment, and if it’s comparable to Evertons. I suspect it won’t be.

Lots of dosh to back them up. They’ll just lawyer up Trump style.

January 16, 2024 at 9:54 pm #279371Of course it won’t be the same DM, it should be if the charges are proven but money always talks and City will get off lightly compared to Everton because of their owners vast wealth. Yes it’s bollocks but it’s how life works, let’s be right if Donald Trump was an ordinary American citizen he would be in jail by now but he’s a billionaire and former President so, at least for now, he remains free.
January 16, 2024 at 10:32 pm #279373‘They’ll lawyer up’ alright Iron Age. In the style of BOTH Trump and those who’ve initiated many lawsuits from amongst his opponents. Not sure why referencing him might be seen as some sort of clincher.
Unless its blindingly obvious that its an appropriate analogy ‘cos EVERYONE has absolutely the same assessment of Donald.. except of course for at least 50% of the US electorate.)
ps I feel ‘non football’ beckoning ..but I’m exiled from there because of posts like those one :)January 17, 2024 at 9:10 am #279378Poor misunderstood JI, he’s still hanging on though.

Yup. That’s the ticket ,IA. When you don’t have a response to, or maybe understand, the argument … make it personal. I absolutely don’t feel misunderstood. I ‘did one’ from t’other side because folks who didn’t like my perspectives resorted to what you just did .. made it personal. Then it just becomes a waste of time.
I agree with your take on the Man City debacle, Iron Age. I would be watching very closely if I was an Evertonian. As IA has repeatedly said .. the stench of corrupt money and the selling out of the lower levels of the pyramid since the inception of the Premier League is nauseous. My comments re Trump were because a)it’s a really bad analogy you made. His opposition are ‘lawyered up ‘to the hilt too. b) there’s the assumption that everyone sees Trump in the same light … so it’s fair game to arbitrarily introduce him into a thread about corruption in UK football. Current US polling figures suggest that the assumption is wrong.
January 17, 2024 at 1:53 pm #279390I don’t think the Trump lawyers analogy is a good one either. I think Man City are more likely to deploy the Trump victimisation tactic if they get rightly and appropriately punished! ‘Infamy! infamy! they’ve all got it…’
January 18, 2024 at 6:57 pm #279465They should deal with city in the same way thaf the SFA dealt with Glasgow Rangers. They took years to get back to the SPL. Put City into the EFL L2 with a points deduction. All of their players will leave, including the women and the youth.
Make a proper example of them.
January 18, 2024 at 7:01 pm #279467That’s if they are found guilty LK, or have you already made your mind up based on media speculation? Until case proven it is just speculation of course.
January 18, 2024 at 7:07 pm #279468I didn’t take a lot of convincing, that is true. But the fact is, they won’t even be put on trial. That is because of the success that they bought and paid for, illegally imo. Surely if they are genuine, they will face the rest of English football and prove themselves innocent? Otherwise it is easy to conclude that they are guilty, if nothing else than having too much to hide.
