Another of these southern towns you’d never have expected to be playing league games against, let alone in the “northern” regionalised division. Still, I suspect it will be a tricky game against a side you would imagine are probably better than the table suggests, given their recent success. Clunan & Barrows against their old club, I think? Wonder what sort of reaction they will get.
I’ve not seen ticket prices for tonight but I know the Kings Lynn chairman (who seems quite the “character”) used to keep prices fairly high, hopefully it’s worth the money for the Iron tonight but I’m going to go for another 1-1 draw.
November 14, 2023 at 10:02 am #276758Tyler Denton was also a KL player i believe.
Im also going for a score draw .. 2-2

November 14, 2023 at 10:04 am #276759£18 a ticket tonight, our form away from home needs to improve if we’re to finish champions, hoping for a 2-0 win.

November 14, 2023 at 10:10 am #276760Southern town???
Further north than Stamford in Lincolnshire.
Hope for another 2-0 win, but head says more like a 1-1 draw.
November 14, 2023 at 10:27 am #276762I was going to say it isn’t in the South, but it was Denton not Barrows from Lynn
November 14, 2023 at 10:39 am #276765I think Barrows Clunan and Denton all played for KL in the past .. Barrows left KL to go to Altrincham from whom Scunny bought him

That doesn’t make it a northern town! Should I have said midlands?
It’s definitely been a favourable run of fixtures recently and another win tonight would really push home the current advantage. Here’s hoping!

November 14, 2023 at 1:28 pm #276780Given the current form I am confident of another win for the iron tonight. That said, I don’t think it’ll be an easy win, and the players will definately have to keep their wits about them.
The best hope for KL is to make it a physical battle and not allow Scunthorpe to get the ball on the deck.
My score prediction is: Kings Lynn Town 0 Scunthorpe United 2

Yet another cup final for the home team, taking the scalp.
November 14, 2023 at 9:55 pm #276826I really thought we were worth a draw.
Thanks, Fitz.
These rushes of blood to the brain are losing us points.November 14, 2023 at 9:57 pm #276828Agreed. :( Dont know what to say – we must have had 80% of the ball in the second half but couldn’t break them down – back to the drawing board?
Couldn’t fault the effort though in the second half. UTI1 user thanked author for this post.
November 14, 2023 at 10:08 pm #276830I won’t stick the boot into Jimmy Dean but no coincidence that their manager was Curzon’s manager and he did exactly the same job on us tonight.
Dean brought Elliot on and I thought surely he’ll put him up there with Whitehall and go 442 but obviously didn’t and goes with the same formation. Truly baffling was the decision to then leave Boyce upfront to go with 2 upfront at the end.
Elliot though with that miss was shocking and if he scored that we go away with a draw. I know Dean like possession based football but they went with everybody behind the ball and we were being far too patient. Only way you dislodge them and create space is quick play and balls into the box.
Players wanted far too many touches and generally took far too long to make their minds up. Curzon Ashton game again minus the crazy weather. Dean has got the drive home that when playing against teams who set up like this that we need to play quickly and stop messing around.

November 14, 2023 at 10:13 pm #276831Well have you ever seen 3 points thrown away like tonights game, Scunny must have had 75% of the play, be it far too many back passes, but only missed one open goal during the full second half, Kings Lynn clearly showed why they are a bottom five team, and were there for the taking.
I watched the match on the Kings Lynn streaming, which had no commentry for the full game, I tried listening it at the same time on RH but there was a bloody 12 second time difference, which made it impossible. Scunny passed them off the pitch, but KL scored with their only 3 cgances.
It is going to be a hard slog this season if they cannot put a poor team like tonights away, iit makes thing worse with most other top teams getting wins and we have slipped to 3rd, and really showed that we are lacking in a centre forward, Whithead is just not good enough.
So it is Darlington at home on Saturday in the Cup game, and should get back to winning eways as they lost 8-0 tonight and are rock bottom of the league. A very poor night, and not good watching Streaming with no commentry, how the hell they can charge £10 for that is a bloody cheek.

Can’t disagree with that.
I thought we were out thought off the pitch and out fought on the pitch. We need to show more versatility tactically as KL’s manager has shown he has the blueprint to beat us.
Really disappointing viewing tonight; we just look like a totally different team away from home. Must improve if we are serious about challenging for the title.

November 15, 2023 at 12:50 am #276838Dean has done superbly well but games like that tonight when we’re down we need to push the boat out and try a different approach. I would have rather he brought elliot on and gone 4/4/2, getting the ball out wide quickly and whipped in and least try something different.
Whitehall didn’t play well at all but we struggled with support up to him so can’t understand why Dean didn’t change it up and just put an extra striker on. Jimmy Ball works well but we need different ways of playing.

November 15, 2023 at 5:39 am #276839Which match was Dean’s interview from – he seems to say the same thing after each away defeat. tip tap round the back 4 doesn’t work away from home, it only just worked on Sat at home. You need to change the approach when we are the home teams ‘cup final’ or it will be your job Mr Dean.
November 15, 2023 at 6:53 am #276840Very disappointing. I think you can sum that game up as they wanted it more. Even though they had little ball they chased harried and fought for their lives. We passed it nicely in areas that matter not
November 15, 2023 at 8:03 am #276841I watched the game online… There was a lot of activity in the middle between the centre circle and their box, and not enough whipped in from out wide. As much as I love watching Scunthorpe United short pass other teams out of existence, I also feel there’s not enough ‘old style fourth division rubbish’ (ie. directness in our attack) mixed in amongst all the tippy-tappy. I’m not advocating a return to elbows and leg-break tackles, either, but a bit more meat with the gravy wouldn’t go amiss.
November 15, 2023 at 8:22 am #276842Agreed.
However, Whitehall did not so much have a poor game – but rather, seemed to have been excluded from it.
So many decent chances to cross the ball into the box were simply not taken.November 15, 2023 at 8:29 am #276843Agreed.

So many decent chances to cross the ball into the box were simply not taken. We’ve only got ourselves to blame… but when the final whistle blew I did also wonder how the hell we lost that game 3-1. One of those occasions when the result is a bit freakish and doesn’t tell the true story? Or another worrying indicator that JD is able to set a very good side up but not do anything meaningful to alter it to suit what’s going on? For my money, a little bit of both.

November 15, 2023 at 9:19 am #276845Once again mugged by a team lacking skill but overflowing with effort, how many more times can we afford that? Nobody worth more than a 5 and several 4s tonight, very disappointing.
Question:-
If Butterfield is surrounded by 3 players everytime he gets the ball that surely means we have 2 unmarked, where were they?2 users thanked author for this post.
November 15, 2023 at 10:48 am #276848My concern is that a lot of our best moments seem to come from having outstanding individuals in the team – look at the goals of Butterfield & Smith in recent weeks. I’m not so sure that we are seeing as many goals which are the result of a good, cohesive team. Put another way, the players are good but do we yet know if the manager is?
November 15, 2023 at 12:46 pm #276857Agree with all of the above, we can’t keep trying to score only after we’ve exceeded 20 plus passes. Get the bloody ball in the box…how many times did we actually give Whitehall an opportunity to attack the ball inside the box? The answer is a big fat zero!
