Scarborough away apparently, playing Evans in midfield.
Allegedly he is falling out with players individually.
The players are not behind playing this formation, which is abundantly clear from watching 4-4-2 last week to this week’s utter drivel.
Schofield is the architect of the system which he played at both Lincoln and Donny.
Come on Michelle and co, Butler is undoing your great work match by match.

I do not have any insider knowledge on the goings on at AAGP but got the feeling there are both “favourites” and unrest in the camp so your info may well be accurate Legs…
SOMETHING IS NOT QUITE RIGHT
December 1, 2024 at 8:21 am #294908Lol the obligatory ” lost the dressing room rumour” up there with ” no plan b”
Any 6th tier player not grateful to a club and manager giving them a chance few clubs can should sod right off .Snidey briefings about losing the players at this level are ridiculous. Anyone hearing this BS should tell them so. They should be running through walls for us like Evans does not being snidey ,especially when there’s barely any other club for players like them to go and be full time pros atDecember 1, 2024 at 11:06 am #294929If the entire fan base is miffed by the formation Butler is playing why do you expect the players to be any different?
Most will have spent their entire football life playing 4-4-2 and are now expected to play a system they are both unused to and clearly incapable of playing.

December 1, 2024 at 11:25 am #294932Must be more frustrating for them as players than us as fans. The 5-3-2 flatters no one, so it’s no surprise to hear they have lost confidence in the manager and his system.

December 1, 2024 at 9:15 pm #294981If I pay to watch football – I pay to be entertained.
That isn’t happening all that frequently at the AA – is it?4 users thanked author for this post.
December 1, 2024 at 9:27 pm #294985That Alfreton match was absolutely shocking. No pattern of play whatsoever and just hoofed the ball to Beck. That’s not on the players and is purely down to Butler who would rather sit most players behind the ball and hoof it to Beck to ensure we don’t concede.
I was struggling to remember a more poor match. That was beyond a joke. To say that was unacceptable is putting it mildly.
Whitehall as a no 10 and dropping Brogan. Butler’s head has completely gone.

December 1, 2024 at 9:34 pm #294986As bad as it was on Saturday – and yes I accept everything 414, Awaywego and co have been saying for weeks – The fact is at third in the league, most goals scored and third fewest conceded and undefeated for the last 3 with 5 points from a possible 9 then sacking a manager isn’t a good look to the outside world. Who else would we get, or would want to come ?
It is a dilemma for Michelle and the board, Butler has lost the support of most supporters but if he wins the next 3 he could be December manager of the month !!December 1, 2024 at 10:09 pm #294987All valid points TJO but if we win the next three games playing like we did on Saturday even I will start believing in Santa Clause.

That ship has sailed I’m afraid. There has to be an experienced manager who knows this level inside who would want to come, surely ?

December 2, 2024 at 7:17 am #294992If there is such an experienced manager will they be happy to take over our squad with a remit of must win the league but no budget for signing anyone spectacular ?
The fact is from the outside looking in Dean got sacked for finishing second and losing the playoff semifinal and a large section of our home supporters are booing the current manager for a 0-0 draw against a team known for negative, anti football qualities of which there are many more for us yet to play.
Any prospective new manager will say they want some new signings, which will financially scare the board and we’re stuck with the expensive ones we’ve got until the end of their contracts. Also there’s the prospect of a still to be appointed recruitment director/analyst who surely has to be on the same page footballing wise as the manager ?December 2, 2024 at 7:47 am #294993Clearly this isn’t a blip in form, and has been going on for far too long…

December 2, 2024 at 8:41 am #294997Butler losing the support of the fans doesn’t particularly bother me. It’s losing the support of the players that’s a concern.
If that’s true of course.

It looked true on Saturday. There was a moment in the second half when the players were all called over to him (must have been an injury to an Alfreton player and a break in play, can’t quite remember). Butler held forth, offering comments and instructions, not one of them looked like they were listening.

December 2, 2024 at 10:21 am #295006Butler is an inexperienced manager who may be leaning heavily into Schofield, it makes me wonder how much this is down to Schofield.

December 2, 2024 at 11:12 am #295011My take on all of the above.I’m not at all happy with or convinced by this present Management team … BUT they shouldn’t be replaced. If the next 4 to 6 games don’t see a real turn around in results AND performance value then there would have to be a re set and they’d have to go.
Why not now? Did anyone notice that Roberts was missing? Maybe he could have played but I reckon the recent niggle begged for the good rest that a missed game and two week break would afford. Similarly Carlton with his swollen toe. Don’t know what happened to Brogan but I can see something good coming together with these mobile, skilful and intelligent players when we resume. Maybe Jason Law will even come into the frame. A crucial 4 or 5 weeks coming up, Andy. Over to you.December 2, 2024 at 11:33 am #295013Butler is an inexperienced manager who may be leaning heavily into Schofield, it makes me wonder how much this is down to Schofield.
Had one good season at Lincoln as manager and was sacked after.
Wasn’t popular with their fans either2 users thanked author for this post.

Good point .. Scoffs appointment was rushed and solely down to AB .. looking back at his past record it isnt that great .. in fact as pointed out already other than a decent spell at Lincoln its been pretty shite.
AB did get the boot from Donny Belles i believe also was he a set piece coach at some time things didnt work out.

This could be a far more significant explanation than most realise, for how crap things have been.

December 2, 2024 at 1:02 pm #295018I dint think we can give him 4 6 more games, it will be far too late to catch up by then. We are already in a dire situation. People keep saying “but are third and haven’t been beaten in three games”. Take a look at the table, Curzon 2 pts ahead 2 games in hand, 3 teams below us have a game in hand, if they win them we will be in 7th place. On current form the only way we are going is down. Draws do not get you promoted, ask Russ Wilcox

December 2, 2024 at 1:39 pm #295023A poster said yesterday that this system was apparently played by Schofield throughout his managerial career so it would appear Butler and Schofield are as bad as each other.

Take a closer look and it’s actually worse than that! There are 6 teams below us that if they win their games in hand will be ahead of us (although I haven’t bothered to look if any of those games are against each other).

December 2, 2024 at 4:53 pm #295027Am as unhappy as you lot ..but will be amazed if he’s not given til New Year. By then we’ll know if its coming right with new signings and returnees. It may well be that Curzon will be uncatcheable by then ..who knows. A big and expensive gamble to change it in this next fortnight. I don’t see it happening.
December 2, 2024 at 6:11 pm #295029If the Board are ‘happy’ with the club becoming a perennial NLN team… then they’ll stick with him.
If they have any aspirations of promotion to the NL and then an eventual return to the EFL – then he has to go.

December 2, 2024 at 6:30 pm #295031Curzon are showing everyone at the moment that sustainability is not the way forward.
December 2, 2024 at 7:57 pm #2950324-6 games of more dire football, poor tactics, bad defence minded play and the long ball to our new striker.
Curzon pulling away similar to Tamworth last season, where JD did not have the metal or mental guile to challenge them despite our games in hand.
This team is playing worse and badly managed, Butler’s stubborn obsession with 5 across the back and lack of ability to focus on attacking football and worry about ‘setting up’ to thwart the opposition is killing us as a team and club. The latter the bigger worry.
4-6 games is 12-18 points and may be too much to make up. Also should we miraculously make the play-offs and even go up what can we look forward to next. Butler and Schofield are struggling at this level.
Talk to any fan and we ain’t happy.
