If he lived on a council estate in Sunderland he may have some credence, but even his fellow professionals disagree with him –May 19, 2020 at 7:21 pm #177468
but some of us agree with him ,not every body can be right on this.but i am sure you will say its you who is right, whats new?May 19, 2020 at 7:24 pm #177469
You do realise that the one person saying that one opinion is gospel truth is the OP, who you agree with, right? The other respondents have either joked or disagreed without declaring their view as the truth.May 19, 2020 at 7:30 pm #177470

More evidence is coming out that more people will die through lack of treatment, the institute for Cancer research as said more people could die from cancer through lack of surgery a 3 month delay could make the difference tumours being curable or not. I see, I guess that means we should have let coronavirus spread more rapidly through the population, potentially overwhelm healthcare and have more people die because of it. And it must be ok because those dying would mostly be the ill or elderly, so their right to life doesn’t matter.May 20, 2020 at 10:04 am #177496

“If I choose to go to the theatre, then I know the risk and everyone else attending knows the risk. It is the individual’s right to decide this for themselves.”
1) We may be individuals but we are part of a community.
2) The theatres are closed.May 20, 2020 at 11:44 am #177511
I am not so sure those who come into contact with someone who got coronavirus from a theatre when they’re not there (e.g. they catch it from you when shopping) would be so forgiving if they end up suffering badly, because the theatre goer prioritised their own entertainment over the rights of others. Nor would they be appreciative if hospital spaces become more limited because of it.May 20, 2020 at 11:54 am #177513
My point is that if those in charge of the theatre deem it unsafe to reopen it then the argument is moot.
Or does Sumption envisage going down there, banging on the door demanding they open up for him?May 20, 2020 at 12:07 pm #177515
That’s a fair point. My argument was directed more at Sumption and his sympathisers than you. Those who want theatres open for their ‘freedom.’
