So the rumours have it, for just £50k. Seems a pretty paltry sum for someone who has suddenly found some form. Even if he’s out of contract in the summer (not sure if he is or not?), it doesn’t seem much money given our league position.

One 45 mins doesn’t make a season! But we all know that there is a very good player in there as we have seen occasionally especially at Rotherham and Oldham, I think he and his agent see’s him better then division 2 so it would really surprise me if he go’s to Colchester.

    Hardly a massive upward move.
Colchester not known for being big payers.
    Cost of living higher.
Is life easier down there than under Hill?
Are we desperate for any cash we can get?

No, I agree 100% that 45 minutes doesn’t make a season but like you say there have been glimpses. So selling him for a measly £50k seems short-sighted at best, assuming the rumours are true. Especially as Colchester are only 3 points above us!

Hill clearly knows that Loft intends to leave on a free.
It is a small amount, yes, but …
… and it gives room for a replacement.

We shall, of course, all be totally peed off when he turns into a real striker down the line.

Loft to Colchester im finding strange .. he (Loft) must really want away if its true as its quite possible we could stay up n they could go down.
Im thinking Loft n Hill havent really got on from the outset and an excellent 45 mins last time out hasnt changed that.
I hope Hill can bring in at least 2 or 3 new faces ..strikers mainly also Hackney n Scrimshaw extend.
More so the 6 pointer against Carlisle goes ahead ..but its looking doubtful.

I see both Oldham and Stevenage drew over night.. sadly means we are back in the bottom 2 but not bottom.

im away up the jungle til the 2nd Jan ..wishing all Scunny fans a safe and Happy New Year , lets hope 2022 is a better one both on and off the pitch.

UP THE IRON CLARET n BLUE ALL WAY THROUGH.

I think Scrimshaw is season long loan. Hackney will need extending. Selling Loft to Colchester would be suicidal as they’re close to us.

What if he goes there and the real Loft we know he can be re appears on a regular basis and fires in the goals for them ?

That could quite easily result in us being relegated come the end of the season.

I hope it’s not true with where Colchester are in the table. Surely a lg 1 team would take a punt on him for that poultry amount ?

I think the transfer window opens on 4th January. The timing of the rumour would suggest to me that Loft’s agent is trying to spread word that he’s available for a low price. We only deal in undisclosed fees so it can’t have come from within the club itself.

I’ve always thought someone like Donny might have a punt on him. They’re struggling for goals and worst case is they get relegated but know Loft can be decent in League 2.

For me, he’s too inconsistent and is either a 5/10 or 8/10 rating. When he’s a 5 you can spot it within the first 10 minutes of the game from his body language, frustrating. Otherwise, yes he’s got some talent & potential.

Didn’t we used to say something similar about KvV?

Happy for Loft to be sold if Hill can sign 2 better strikers. It’s a big if, because I’m not sure where he will find them.

If the motive is for the club to get money in before he is out of his contact and save on his wages, then he should not be sold.

It’s a chicken and egg situation.

Hill has responded by saying we have to make ourselves stronger not weaker by recruiting and retaining and it has been leaked probably by sources closer to the club that was mentioned and his agent.

Sadly he also mentioned that decisions on players leaving would be made by the chairman and directors, not him. Seems dangerous to me, we all know what disagreement could lead to and if they’re deciding on ‘outs’ are they doing ‘ins’ as well?

Far be it for me to defend Swann but pretty much every manager in history has always said that sales are “up to the chairman”. Harry Redknapp made a career out of it. Managers always know they have to work to a budget, no matter its size.

    Chickenfeed isn’t it?

    Bravo.

Is it too late for a spelling correction ?

    Paltry…..

    Where’s my medal ?

On a more serious note, 50k if true is crap, we may as well keep him. Loft is wildly inconsistent but I doubt we could sign somebody on a free or on loan who’s as good.

Pretty sure with the embargo looming over us we can’t pay transfer fee’s out for players.

In Swann’s interview on Radio GA GA before KO today, he said two player deals were done to strengthen the squad, Hill said after the game with a laugh it was at least one. He did say though a striker at U23 level was the deffo player but it’s with a Championship club, that should get a few stattos trawling the net to find out who’s available.

£50k looks like a massive overvaluation after this game, hope we’ve already signed the contract of sale. A complete p*** take by Loft today.

Have to agree with Cass on that one, Loft didn’t look interested today. Clearly his head’s been turned and he wants away, can’t see any point in keeping this version of Loft.

If Loft was valued at £50k before todays game after his performance v Carlisle it should be down to zero

I did hope the other 45 minutes against Oldham he turned a corner but looks like it was a flash in the pan and wouldn’t surprise me if one of these teams after him at representatives there so he turned in that performance.

Today he was shit again, no effort or conviction at all. Very poor. If Loft want’s to move back down south the let him.

Get a few strikers on loan for the money saved on his wages and the 50k transfer money.

I was really hoping he’s start to turn it around but no, back to same old shite again.

Shame really because the Loft we know who turns up would tear this league to bits, only problem is it’s always on his terms and then you get too much inconsistent crap in between.

While Loft is an ok forward at this level, I am far from convinced he could tear the league up.

“Shame really because the Loft we know who turns up would tear this league to bits”.

Now that is funny and an early contender for daftest quote of the year.

From a review of his career to date (he’s a 1 goal in 5 games man) and having watched him for 2 seasons, where do you come up with the opinion that he “would tear this league to bits”?

You really see 25-30 goals in a season from him? The Loft we mostly know cannot control the ball, cannot pass to his own team, mostly looks lazy and misses far more chances than he scores.

And during his time here, rather than tearing up the league, he has contributed to us being in the bottom 3 in the league. That we do know!!!
