article on the Telegraph website advocating Loft for Player of the year.
It’s been a good run and I hope his improvement continues but Surelyit’s Onarisie’s to lose at the moment? Following that I’d suggest: Beestin, Eisa, Gillead, Spence and even maybe Howard are further up the list?February 26, 2021 at 1:12 pm #202803On 7 goals 6 assist as it stands, if he gets to 15 and 10 respectively you’d find it very hard to give POTY to someone else.
I would agree it’s Manny for me at the minute, followed by Beestin.
February 26, 2021 at 1:47 pm #202808A few weeks ago Loft wouldn’t have been in most peoples first XI never mind a POTY contender! Credit to him, let’s hope his current form continues.
February 26, 2021 at 1:57 pm #202810Still think it’s odd that he still gets described as a target man, when his hold-up play is the weakest part of his game. All his best work has come with the ball at his feet, running in behind defences.
February 26, 2021 at 2:18 pm #202812Agree with Ferrite, he’s lightning quick for his size and needs to be played in behind defences more often. Not sure a player who has probably had at least 10 games with a 3/10 rating can be considered POTY though…he was truly awful for a large part of this season. Manny all day every day for me so far!
February 26, 2021 at 3:24 pm #202815I demanded Loft be dropped after one game in Autumn in which he hardly made a single pass but from that point on, I have consistently pointed out that the vast amount of problems he faced were usually being caused by poor systems of play and a lack of outlet balls.
3/10 in one game, yes. But can you mark a player down when he gets no clean ball and little movement alongside him? IF it ain’t his fault must surely get an average mark. ie) 6.I doubt any player in the squad has worked harder but I’d still give it to Manny.
When I first saw him, it struck me that he was a great example of a player moving from non-league to league football. Probably nothing more.
I was wrong. This is a seriously good defender who is at least one division better than the division in which he now plays.Even though Gilliead is such a superb player – as he has been messed about so much, I do not feel that we have seen the best of this terrific footballing unit. Even so – runner up IMHO.
February 27, 2021 at 5:02 pm #202856I’m baffled how Gilliead gets picked every week, I’ve seen virtually nothing form him all season.
February 27, 2021 at 6:03 pm #202868If he leaves at the season’s end – it will be a very hard hole to fill.
February 27, 2021 at 7:42 pm #2028731 goal and 3 assists in 31 games this season…shouldn’t be too difficult.
February 27, 2021 at 7:59 pm #202875Doing the job he’s asked to do and blunting his attacking threat?
February 27, 2021 at 9:24 pm #202876Be very surprised if Gilliead, Eisa, VanVeen and MaGahey will be here next season. You can add the crock Clarke and Brown to the same list. More cheap and cheerful young kids to come in and keep the mediocrity going, oh and McAtee too but he’s best gone anyway with his shit attitude.
February 27, 2021 at 9:52 pm #202877I wonder who will be no 1 keeper next season.
February 28, 2021 at 8:28 am #202886Bet it isn’t Rory.
February 28, 2021 at 3:40 pm #202904I’m not saying Gilliead is terrible, I just don’t think he’s been anywhere near as good this season as he showed at times last season. I don’t think he has down enough to be a guaranteed starter.
