The thread on Hippolyte had me thinking, who’s the worst footballer out of the 2? I’m afraid Ryan Loft wins that award.

He’s a fairly decent finisher but everything else in his game is truly woeful.

His first touch is so bad that his second is always a tackle and in addition to that, he can’t even pass to someone a few yards away.

He’s a big reason why we struggle so much, as we just can’t keep possession at all.

We’ve got about 6 strikers and the only one who can play football is currently in the Netherlands. Worrying.

Does so much right then ruins it by gifting possession at least a dozen times a match.
Works hard, doesn’t win too many balls but does not give opposition too many clean headers.
Shows great thinking on occasions but cannot do that on a regular basis.
    Goes in bravely.
There ought to be player in there … sigh.

`I gave Loft the benefit of the doubt elsewhere the other night and said if he had a strike partner right up with him to do the leg work allowing him to stay within the width of the 18 yard box (Torpey/Carruthers style) we might see a better version of him, as with someone playing behind him he’s always having to head it back towards our own goal to someone on our team, instead of flicking it on as nobody there running in begind after any flick.Would allow him to be in the box when crosses come in instead of outwide or anywhere but the box like at Southend if someone doing his running.

Still think this is the case,However he is utter garbage.

    “Does so much right”.

What has he done right in the last 3 matches? He is nowhere near League standard.

Absolutely agree with Les and I said it before. There should definitely be a player in there.

Size, pace, bravery and work rate can’t be taught and he has them all.

His touch is awful but with training that can be improved.

He’s often in the wrong place but with proper coaching that can be improved.

Have we got the right people to teach him and does he have the desire to learn? Those are the questions that need answering.

Plays better with another striker with him, he has shown on 2 or 3 occasions he can be a handful, but sometimes he is woeful, but not on his own.

So now people you have seen Loft and Thuran, although Thuran not that much.

I ask this question – was Kyle Wootton really that bad ?

Wootton was average at best, but that’s better than Loft, Jarvis and Turan.

I ask this question – was Kyle Wootton really that bad ?

Kyle had the misfortune of playing in front of 3,000 fans.

The present incumbents have not had the benefit of encouragement from the terraces.

Are you suggesting our crowd is not always supportive of our young players NI?

I’m glad Wootton left, I think it was the best thing for his career. He wasn’t getting used the right way with us and he needed a club where he could start regularly and score some goals.

I’m very disappointed with Loft, mainly for his attitude. His body language is so poor – he pulls out of challenges, waves his arms around and gives defenders too easy a ride. His first touch can be good or terrible, which is very frustrating, but I’d love to see him put himself about a bit more.

Cox said he has to work extra time just with him. All the expert summarisers says he has to do more Cox says he has to more – he doesn’t do more he is garbage.

It is close between Hippolyte and Loft and Jarvis as the worst players ever to play for the club and there is some mighty competition in that

Fans were mainly supportive of Kyle until his last game when he took a bit of abuse, Hurst didn’t help him he took him off and Kyle was forced to walk past the scunny fans in the away end, though I do believe anybody he took off would have got the same abuse that day. At the time kvv wasn’t getting a look in, if he”d done the same as kev and scored goals we wouldn’t have let him go.

He’s the worst striker I’ve ever seen play more than 10 games for us. Supposed to be the focal point of attacks but unfortunately is officially the worst passer of a football in the Football League (look up completed pass % for the past two seasons, only goalkeepers are worse).

He’s scored a couple of goals that very few Iron strikers would have netted. Agree with les & DSGM that he has potential and his shortcomings can be overcome.

Playing him upfront on his own doesn’t help. I’d stick Green up there with him, McAtee is capable on his day but he’ll naturally drop deep as he’s more a no 10/attacking midfielder.

Turan, Jarvis are dog mess. Olomola’s crocked with Kev and Mooney wasn’t deemed good enough from day one so only really leaves Green as our only viable option.

Post match interview Cox was going on about playing 4/3/3 again to combat our frailties going forward..even though that will leave Loft even more isolated.

Oh and the fact it didn’t work last time he tried it.

Not sure he’s good enough but up front alone isn’t working!!

4-4-2 with Evans up top could work (released by fleetwood today… and yes I’d take him as we are in a mess!!)

Let’s sort this out before it’s too late

Just read that he left Fleetwood due to his discipline and behaviour…no thank you, he’s a wrong-un.

Ishmael Miller 33yr old on a free transfer ?
    Paul Taylor
    Simeon Jackson
Chris O’Grady 34 yr old Target man for Loft to learn from till end of the season ?

That’s obviously bargain basement territory. This isn’t a great league and an old wise head upfront maybe what we could do with to help us at times.

An ‘old wise head up front’ is what has been lacking all season.
An old wise head has also been lacking in CM but, very luckily, that is part-sorted.
If the ball ‘stuck’ up front a lot more, it would gain room for CMs to have more space to work in

Agree with Les, how do we expect to engage the midfield in attacking runs when Loft cannot keep hold of the ball/win the ball/pass the ball. It takes only a second to generate midfield runs and a more able front man could do this. This would allow Beestin more goal threat and no doubt Taylor will produce what he did for PV

Simeon Jackson might be a decent move. Not spectacular but an improvement on what we’ve got. Loft will benefit from a proper partner he needs someone to move beyond him so he’s not always having to work the ball backwards.

Chris O’Grady would be decent enough upfront with Van Veen if/when he’s fit….we need options that’s for sure, the one’s we’ve got are dire.

You have to be careful with these experienced/old players. Remember Craig Davies, Tommy Johnson, Geoff Horsfield, Ian Ormondroyd et al. More recently James Perch didn’t have many fans on here.
Beagrie might be the only exception.

Bloody hell Ched Evans must have done something really bad if Joey Barton got rid, only convicted of criminal violence twice and jailed once and 5 month footy ban for betting.

Contract to end of the season would be not much risk at all in my opinion. We definitely need at least 2 strikers though, ideally 3.
