Reading the Telegraph website I noticed the massive difference in the football coverage. There are 7 (yes seven) different articles about the Cods game against Solihull, there is nothing, at time of writing, concerning The Iron’s game. Another rift that needs healing? One for you Simon?

November 24, 2021 at 5:48 pm #218421Do you think Simon has enough influence to get Max bell sacked and get in a more objective reporter?.
November 24, 2021 at 5:51 pm #218422I was at the game last night Cass and the only people in the press area were Tim Steere, Tom Newey and Chris Sumpter apart from the Leyton Orient reporters, had a quick word with Tom about Mike White who has the Covid and Chris who works for a National reporting company, Charlie Wilson and Paul Crute used to represent SET until they got banned from the press box and then sat elsewhere but now I don’t think the SET are allowed in the ground especially Max Bell who is banned.

November 24, 2021 at 6:43 pm #218425The Royals seem to be having a similar problem with the BBC.
November 24, 2021 at 7:12 pm #218427I understand Max was at this week’s shareholder meeting, nothing the Prawn could do about that. Somethings happening but how long it’s gonna take is another matter.
November 24, 2021 at 7:44 pm #218431The club /Swann definitely had a dispute with Telegraph about something they printed.
Didn’t Swann suggest they had an agenda at the time and them subsequently banned them from reporting on your games ?
This has been a long running thing with telegraph, been at least a few seasons.
If I remember rightly they wanted money from us to report our games, Swann probably due to the fact he thought the paper had an agenda played hardball with the fee they wanted and told them to jog on.
I’m fairly sure that’s how it all happened. Sandwich in between that was the running battles “often public” with the council.
Little petty things like the falling out with the telegraph need sorting. Swann needs to swallow his pride and work that out.
That’s why they aren’t bothering anymore Cassidy.

Mmm, lick, suck….oh Mr Swann….
November 24, 2021 at 8:40 pm #218437Swann has fallen out with virtually anyone who could have helped him.
Astute businessman?
Nope.

November 24, 2021 at 9:58 pm #218441I find it amazing that you suggest swanny should swallow his pride WG, your post suggests that the telegraph were at fault, couldn’t they just apologize? Maybe it could be the start of something though if swanny did swallow his pride, maybe Alcy, Brassy,BS, and others to numerous to mention could swallow theirs.

I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure it was a case of SUFC wanting money for the Telegraph to attend matches.
November 25, 2021 at 9:37 am #218457Ferrite is correct.Radio Humberside pay for access to the club and it
s employees,The Telegraph don
t.Swann was supposed to be meeting the Telegraph to attempt to come to an agreement.November 25, 2021 at 10:03 am #218459WG, Ferrite & PP are all correct, it is all down to money. What the Telegraph were prepared to pay was regarded by Swanny as way too low, so far apart a deal couldn’t be done. In an effort to resolve this Swanny’s asked the Iron Trust to build bridges with the Telegraph and try broker a deal.
November 25, 2021 at 12:31 pm #218470Does anyone know if the local press has traditionally paid a fee to report on games?
November 26, 2021 at 5:15 am #218493A bit muddled but I was near enough there. I knew it was money related. I suspect Swann may have played hardball thought due to the fact he too a disliking to something/somethings they wrote.
We all know Swannster probably likes a good old grudge.
December 7, 2021 at 10:13 am #218894Article in the Guardian about the fall of Scunthorpe and LGE survival, touches on the local reporting.

December 7, 2021 at 4:05 pm #218926Also covered by Max Bell on twitter, apparently Swann/Rodwell wanted to increase the Telegraph’s payment from 2.5k p/a to 10k p/a for access, interviews etc. As mentioned above Iron Trust & now Simon Elliot trying to sort out a compromise deal.
