Pre match in here please
December 3, 2020 at 11:45 am #198402Hopefully not another disappointing home performance.
December 3, 2020 at 1:22 pm #198407As usual the performance will be down to the manager picking the correct system with the players selected playing in their correct positions. It sounds easy enough but the reality at home this season would suggest it seems rather difficult from a managerial perspective. Over to you Mr Cox.
December 3, 2020 at 1:58 pm #198415Same system, same tempo, same team please (unless big Kev and Brown are back in contention).
December 3, 2020 at 3:20 pm #198420All I want to see is being an attacking threat for 90 minutes with lots of shots at goal, something we haven’t seen this year and a while longer.
December 3, 2020 at 3:55 pm #198422If the manager plays our best team (like Tuesdays), and does not worry about the team we are playing, and do his normal by selecting a team to Leytons so called strengths, we would be fine, same as Sanfran has quoted many times, let them worry about us. I shall be very annoyed if Cox changes things much from Tuesday, I think that his changing things to what he thinks has failed so many times he should have learned by now, but we all know it doesn’t. Leyton are not a bad team, but certainly nothing to worry about, so if Cox just tells the lads to play like they did on Tuesday we will be fine, I say like Tuesday, but with a couple of changes, firstly for Gilliead to take our corners and set pieces, and for Howard to control his goal area and help out his defence by coming for balls that are clearly his.
Up the Iron, and a 2-1 win.
December 3, 2020 at 5:11 pm #198423Same team as Tuesday for me- Brown > O’Malley depending on fitness.
No need to rush Van Veen back- Mcatee put in a good shift on Tuesday, I would like to see him play slightly further up the pitch in general as his finishing and dribbling are an asset
December 3, 2020 at 5:36 pm #198424KVV on the bench for me.
Bring him on for 30 minutes if we’re not winning and for 15 minutes if we are.
Let’s make sure the “ginger pig” is fully fit for Cod roasting later in the month.
December 3, 2020 at 5:41 pm #198426Just seen Junior Brown is out for 4-5 weeks with a thigh injury. Same team for me then.
December 4, 2020 at 8:50 am #198443Got Saturday-Tuesday games for the next couple of weeks, might be necessary to change the team around a bit, can’t really see us picking an unchanged line-up match after match. I wouldn’t play Clarke in this game, for example.
December 4, 2020 at 9:04 am #198445Rowe and O’Malley at FB will be fine.
December 5, 2020 at 11:20 am #198502Orient have won 3 on the trot, and Cox said they have done their homework on them so could go back to 3 central defenders and a right wing back.
December 5, 2020 at 12:17 pm #198508If he does then there’s something seriously wrong with the bloke…let them worry about us!
December 5, 2020 at 12:21 pm #198509Phew!
Same starting XI as Tuesday. Here’s hoping for a similar performance!
December 5, 2020 at 12:32 pm #198510Only just noticed it’s a stupid 1pm kick off, won’t be watching in that case.
December 5, 2020 at 1:53 pm #198512H/T thoughts; first 20 mins were a bit of a disaster, the Bolton game all over again. We struggled to string two passes together and Orient were far superior. Thought the penalty award was downright ludicrous and Howard did well to stop what was a substandard spot kick. I fear the roof might have come in had that gone in.
We’ve really come into the game though since about the 25 minute mark. Eisa’s been a little frustrating today but O’Malley is such an impressive young player. Been MOTM thus far.
Hope we can carry this battling display into the second half and target Coulson a bit more. Coulson is as mobile as a rusting destroyer in a Russian harbour. Orient look decent going forward so we can’t afford our traditional flat spot after half time today. Enjoyable match so far.
PS : the worst kind of officials today, fussy, niggly, incompetent, want to be the centre of attention
December 5, 2020 at 1:56 pm #198514Fantastic move and finish for the goal; Donkey Loft getting into the positions we’ve been crying out for and where he will be most dangerous.
December 5, 2020 at 1:59 pm #198516Yep big Loft’s been good today, working really hard up front. Fine finish and might have had another but for an unlucky ricochet.
December 5, 2020 at 2:43 pm #198517Beeeeestin goal machine
December 5, 2020 at 3:00 pm #198518Yes! Really solid performance and win overall. Stand out players for me were Howard in goal- two really critical saves; O’Malley; the two partnerships at centre half and in the middle of the park also delivered really well.
Nice finally to have a little bit of momentum and the management have found a reliable way to win football matches. Credit where it’s due. Looking at the fixtures this month, it is full of winnable games and therefore will be critical to our season. Let’s hope we can carry on as we’ve started in December.

Topics: 4Great performance today. No-one played poorly. O’Malley, Spence, Beestin, Howard and both centre-backs were fantastic. In many ways this was more pleasing than Tuesday, because unlike Harrogate I thought Orient were a decent outfit. We may, we may have turned a corner.
December 5, 2020 at 3:25 pm #198523O’Malley my MOTM, closely followed by Beestin who gets classier every game. Agree with the above in that this was much more pleasing than Vs Harrogate (who were absolutely terrible).
December 5, 2020 at 3:44 pm #198527Cracking result, and against a decent looking Orient outfit.
Loved the simplicity of our first goal, Just the simple things executed to perfection. O’Malley looks a real asset and his delivery was top notch.
Howard’s few saves were crucial,
No coincidence our form has upturned since he arrived.Spence was brilliant and is what we’ve missed since bishop, perfect player for this league.
Just overall a smart, organised performance and a good indicator to show how Cox has transformed the team. Just to think that a couple of weeks ago people were calling for his head, mind blowing!
December 5, 2020 at 3:51 pm #198530Comfortably the best team we’ve beaten this season and one of the better sides we’ve played. We’ve lost to much worse teams. Well played all round. Hope we can keep it going till the 19th at least!
December 5, 2020 at 4:02 pm #198532Only just noticed it’s a stupid 1pm kick off, won’t be watching in that case.
The good news is we get four and a half hours more recovery time than Colchester!
December 5, 2020 at 4:08 pm #198535And to think that posters were saying we had a shite team, but I think we can all now agree there is a reasonable team there, where posters were right was keep it simple 442, players in their right positions, and we can see our rewards. Hope Cox can keep his ego in check and realize fancy dan formations aren’t the way out of div 2. “Come on scunny”
December 5, 2020 at 4:54 pm #198539Playing 4 4 2 and your best available line up makes a massive difference.
Howard and the back four outstanding, O’Malley and Beestin two good prospects, but a good performance apart from the first 20 minutes.
December 5, 2020 at 5:10 pm #198541Just to think that a couple of weeks ago people were calling for his head, mind blowing!
Think your memory’s playing tricks Cliffy. There was plenty of (justified) criticism of some of his selections and tactics but I don’t remember any calls for a replacement.
December 5, 2020 at 6:15 pm #198553And to think that posters were saying we had a shite team
Au contraire Rodney! There were saying we had a shite squad.
As alluded to earlier if Beestin and Spence are out for any length of time then the engine is broken. Hippolyte in for an injured Eisa? No thanks.
This is the first time in ages that any manager has named the same lineup twice in a row. Strongest XI playing 4-4-2 and we look decent. Second string players out of position in a 5-3-1-1. Disaster beckons!
December 5, 2020 at 8:17 pm #198561And there was me thinking otherwise, ok then we’ve got a shite squad but there is good team in there, why all the moaning about the squad then? You also alluded that no kev no threat, but it would appear that is not the case Cox is having to use his full team sorry squad and expects to have to rest players on Tuesday, so hopefully normal service will be resumed for you on tuesday and we can get back to gloom and doom.
