Rob Waltham on Look North tonight acting as an apologist for the current government in refusing to criticise them on their failed “leveling up” strategy.

We do have a nice new roundabout on the M181 though.

Could be some levelling down at Glanford Park in the not too distant future. I think Rent A Bulldozer are the contractor involved.

That Waltham guy is a real prat, he seems so happy that Scunthorpe received a few million pounds from the Government, but what the hell can anyone see where it has been spent, a lot of money has been spent in the area at the bottom of the old Scunthorpe High Street, but no one ever visits that location any longer.

Barton has been talking about a ring road for fifty years, but still nothing even happens, and now with the largest kitchen factory in the UK now extended, the 2,000 workers mostly from Hull, all pass through the town centre, plus all the very large trucks and their company busses, traffic is at a standstill many times during the day. The roads have changed very little since stage coaches used to use them, but the local council still hold their six monthly meeting with the public, but never any action until another public meeting is called six months later.

Can you see any town in the South having no way for all the heavy traffic moving through it? there is no other way of passing through without going through the town centre, and there will not be work traffic like Barton have during the present time.

Christ, a couple of hours after the last posting of mine regarding the ring road that has been on the cards but no action for fifty years, I have just looked at the Scunny Telegtaph page on the webb, and £19 million has been awarded for this same ring road, does that not prove that I can get action??????????????????

So cut central government grants to local authorities for local spending by 10s of billions since 2010, shortfall mainly made up from the public with increased Council taxes, and then go on a northern tour claiming to be the levelling up hero for providing a share of a couple of billion. More Tory lies.

Might fool a few fools I suppose.

They go by the reasoning that after a couple of years most people have forgotten, maybe their right, I constantly question the interest of Joe public on these matters but then you have sections of the media constantly feeding the population Tory bullshit and after awhile some of it is bound to stick. Keep repeating lies day after day and eventually a lot of people regard it as truth, Trump has been doing it for years in the US and quite successfully with some of their population.

So Iron-awe, you think that a 50 year wait has not tested anyone’s patients ha ha!.

I was reallty pleased to see that it will become true mate, but I very much thimk that it will be completed after my time, and a bloody dampener has been placed on things now I read that 14km of thoser bloody stupid cycle lanes are included, with Bartons narrow roads and over car parking in town, we can do without those stupid bloody things, Hull has proved that they are a waste of money and time.

No new cycle lanes, no new road. How very novel, not.🙂

BS you would not have needed a Barton ring road fifty years ago, the Humber Bridge wasn’t even built so the traffic volume would have been nowt compared to today. If Wren hadn’t moved into Barton you still wouldn’t need one, even with the bridge open most traffic comes over and goes straight past Barton on the A15. Mind you going straight past Barton seems a sensible move TBH 😂

Watched my old mate play drums in a local Scunny band in the 80’s in the Victory Club, good atmosphere, great beer and very cheap too, it being a club. Watch my eldest grandson play football there still against a young Barton team (junior football ) good competetive games between the young lads.

At least a certain old Barton resident will have a nice new clean comfortable place to go and drop his bullshit instead of on here.
