May 13, 2021 at 7:57 pm #206941That’s squad is an absolute disgrace!
How many of those names should be playing in the first team in a football league side… I’d say 3 or 4 maximum.
Relegation certainties

2 weeks to get sorted though.
Remember daddy said he wants the squad complete by the end of May.

May 13, 2021 at 8:40 pm #206961Isn’t Shrimptom a midfielder?
If you showed a bookie those players and then ask for the odds for League 2 champions you would get a very good price.
That team would struggle National League North

Aren’t we all, what are the chances that he’ll be allowed to do it?

May 14, 2021 at 5:02 am #206982Interesting that, for the most part, players who were probably good enough to give a decent amount to the squad have been ejected if injury records not deemed to be up to scratch.

Never mind Cox’s stamp, looking at that forward line I’d rather have Darryn Stamp (Even now!)

Only if he brings his goal machine with him.
May 18, 2021 at 9:49 am #207272with the squad we have left at the moment I don’t know about League 2 Champions, I don’t think we would be in the running to be National League North Champions, like SS24 said 4 or 5 are good enough, O’Malley, Manny, Taft, Spence and Beestin, with maybe Rowe, Loft and Green getting there.
May 18, 2021 at 10:15 am #207275Never mind Cox’s stamp, looking at that forward line I’d rather have Darryn Stamp (Even now!)
That’s who Ryan Loft reminds me of! It’s been bugging me all season. The poor first touch, the “mixed” efforts at heading the ball, the aimless running around: he’s a modern Darryn Stamp!
May 18, 2021 at 1:44 pm #207280I am still unsure about Spence and Beestin to be honest. Spence keeps it simple – which means passing back – but he sure as hell slows the play down most of the time. Not a patch on Dawson or Bishop, never will be. One good game in ten. Beestin similar – some of his passing was beyond dreadful – basic stuff. Probably one good game in five for Beestin but with those two in the centre it will be more of the same next year
Remember how Bishop and Dawson used to almost referee the game, in the ear all the time, marshalling the players making sure the ref was on their side. Spence is quiet unassuming quite weak on the ball.
Beestin has more scope to
improve playing with the right character. Spence is extremely limited in his ability1 user thanked author for this post.

Too right. It was painfully obvious that central mid-field was lacking last season. Cox must get his recruitment right in this area if we are to progress next season. Problem is we are about 9 players short of a half decent team and I doubt the budget will stretch that far.
May 18, 2021 at 5:24 pm #207289” I doubt the budget will stretch that far.”
We’ve got rid of 17 including the high earners so I’d be very disappointed if we couldn’t afford at least nine. As you say we need at that as a minimum.

judging by his lies about attacking football, his insistence on picking players who couldn’t be @rsed, on picking those who patently were not going to feature next season, on his odf tactics and seemingly zero idea as to how to change a game, … would his recruitment be owt to shout about?

May 18, 2021 at 6:45 pm #207295His level of input is still an unknown, he admitted to Hippolyte which was clearly a mistake. (Two mistakes really, wanting him and admitting it) But Howard, Taft & Karacan kept us in the league IMO. Were they his choice?
May 18, 2021 at 6:56 pm #207297You’ve been doing a similar post every year since Swann took over UTI99. What a coincidence!

Should be a good squad Uptheiron69, you could probably be able to join Cox’es coaching team, you are simlar in football knowledge to his present crew, in fact you may get a game if you stand out in training.
