I’m reading in the Iron Trust newsletter that the Iron have been told by the National League, that we can offer Caolan Lavery a contract extension. I do hope we can keep him, at this level he is mustard.

Not a cat in hells chance. Why would he stay here with the uncertainty of being paid hanging over his head ?. You have to factor in the form he’s in as well. I can’t see him staying around.

Would you if you was him ?

Good point WG, I want him to stay as much as anybody but as I’ve always said, it’s not about the badge at this level of football, it’s always about the money and job security. He shouldn’t bother himself about us he should do what’s best for him but his goals have been a real plus, hope he bags another hat trick tomorrow before he goes.

    That’s that then.
In different times, he might have become a cult hero?

Thank you Caolan, your goals have a very small positive in an otherwise terrible time for the club. Good player at this level, from my calculations he has his best career scoring ratio with us too!

It just gets better and better. What has SUFC done to deserve this conveyor belt of doom?

It’s a shame to see him go but you woold have to question his sanity if he had stayed in the current circumstances.

Donny taking a player from us to add to the coaches, the days of them outbidding us for players in League 1 is well behind them.

How hard did we try to keep him ?
    Money talks.
Hope today we get in a replacement of at least the same quality.

Cant see anyone coming in … LT can lobby all he wants re the embargo but in the clubs current situation just who would want to come ?? maybe an aging injury prone loanee on the mend needing game time..
As previously mentioned thats Nuttal Apter and Lavery gone … they made up just about all goals scored ..that leaves who to play up front n find the net .. apart from the groundsman.

Maybe not the amount of money, although I’m sure he’ll see an increase, but the certainty of being paid every month will be a factor surely. We could have offered him £5k per week with every chance he wouldn’t see a penny.

    Harrison Poulter – goal machine?

Yeah, give him an extended run.
Goals are in the same place and are the same size!

I guess Lavery will be offered minimum 18 month contract on better money, it’s a no brainer, we could be out of business by next month, good luck to the lad.

Would be nice if he joins Donny and nets the winner against the Cods next time they meet.

    Well done lad!
Bag a hat-trick against the Stags on Saturday.
