Shame some knobhead had to set a flare off.

Great response by the fans though- they soon tried putting it out after the DRE turned. Nothing more effective than self policing.

Some shifts put in there tonight. Never let Kiddie get going second half. Went up a few gears. Huge credit to the players and coaching team. Whatever was said at half time absolutely nailed it. Much more intelligent passages of play, playing to individual strengths, working for each other. Love to see it. Still buzzing.

Loving this new version of Whitehall. The last two games have been two of his best in an Iron shirt (even without scoring). He looks well up for it and is winning pretty much everything at the moment!

Watched on National TV due to being away.

Professional performance from the bench and on the pitch.
The lads are putting shifts in for each other.
First half a little tame but probably probing like a boxing bout. 2nd half dominated until we took the foot off the gas.
    Result never in doubt.

    Well done UTI

Beestin looks like he’s been a natural striker who’s been playing out of position in CM. Butler expects him to be back Tuesday. Special mention to Barrows as a lot doubted him but that ball he put in for Beestin to slot home was fantastic and for me he’s a better player than Ogle by some distance.

Clunan is back to clunan of the first half of last season. Scales was Scales and Nicholson is the best CB I’ve seen in a number of seasons and is definitely at least a lg 2 CB. Roberts now is starting to grasp the attacking midfield role.

This team/squad under Butler far more superior to those of last season. Butler as manager is streets ahead of Jimmy Dean. Way more positive and brave, not to mention miles ahead tactically.

    We’re looking incredibly strong.

A fantastic team performance, and a deserved win. Butler has done a brilliant job with the squad, this is the sort of match that we would have lost last season!

Magnificent result and decent performance especially 2nd half.
    3 comments (not moaning)
Passing practice for all. Kiddy’s pass success rate must have been twice ours. Hardly wasted a ball whereas we gave it away too cheaply too often.
Shooting practice for Carlton and a couple of others. Situations where hitting the target is a minimum requirement.
How was Whitehall not MOM – superb performance.

Just a mention about the atmosphere in the ground last night, absolutely superb, night matches for me are the best when it comes to the fans coming together as one voice. There is definitely a different vibe this season to last even at this early stage, huge credit to Andy and his staff for getting the players in such superb condition and every player is leaving everything out on the pitch every game. Last night was just a complete rush on the senses, real privilege witnessing the boys playing like that, more please.

Would agree, though it was much improved second half. Maybe nerves in an important game against a big promotion threat in first half?

Player with the most touches in the first half was their goalkeeper.

They played some really good 1 and 2 touch stuff in the high intensity first 20 minutes.

We dealt with that impressively and they actually created very little. Their only good chance came from Maxi’s slack backpass.

We gradually got hold of the midfield and they started to go aimlessly long. Kiddy were better for me than any side we played last season which puts our performance into perspective.

An unexpected bit of class and honesty from Brown in his post match interview. That’s how you deal with getting beaten by a better team Mr Dickman (how apt that name).

That was some performance last night. With our press we almost completely obliterated there threat from the left, and then exploited Khyomar’s defensive weakness to get Barrows one on one with Barnard for Beestin’s goal. Brilliant. After that Khyomar was hooked off! One contributor has noted our poor passing in the first half and Butler has said we still have room to improve and he is right! Early doors but the future looks bright. Well done to all!

Should be made to pay for any fine

Enjoyed it last night, the team was really up for it and everyone played well, Whitehall and Beestin stood out for me, they were a decent team and missed a good chance late on, but I think Andy has learned his lesson about taking Whitehall and Roberts off too early, Roberts looks to be settling well into his new role, now to break the Curzan Ashton hoodoo

Was the same at Shields ‘tash.

Luckily we look to have a well drilled defence and DMF.

I guess that making us difficult to score against is a good platform to build upon.

The back three is looking particularly strong, and what a signing Nicholson is turning out to be.

It’s not being mentioned much that we’ve only conceded 1 goal in over 600 minutes of football…that is rather impressive!

The great Bill Shankly always built from the back.

Good enough for him then more acceptable to us.

‘Should be made to pay for any fine’

Doubt they’d have the cash to pay for a big club fine, if that’s what you mean. Rather than just a lengthy ban though, if caught they should be put in front of Michelle so she can explain to them why it’s not acceptable and the consequences for the club. They might actually tell their mates and help prevent it in future. All for a bit of prevention with punishment

Agree 100% having just listened to this, very balanced review by PB and full credit to him for that.
