KH spent the latter months of last season telling us he had a plan in the event of us dropping in the N.L.
It’d be great if we could see some progress being made… let’s see some signings!

June 30, 2022 at 12:36 pm #239651The plan from early on in Hill’s tenure is youth, why is it so hard to understand? We might not like it but it is what it is.

June 30, 2022 at 12:39 pm #239652Yes the plan is youth… surely with an experienced spine to bring them on.
The lack of signings is somewhat concerning4 users thanked author for this post.
June 30, 2022 at 12:48 pm #239653Relying solely on youth is suicide, we need balance.

June 30, 2022 at 2:51 pm #239662The plan being there is no plan! Keef has to go plain and simple.
The whole playing ethos and tactics need vast improvement, it’s more of the same old perverbial crap football from a second rate squad.
The happy clappers can polish a turd only so much before they realise it just won’t shine and leaves a stink under your finger nails.

June 30, 2022 at 2:55 pm #239663Given volatile outside and inside forces, that had to be one very loose and fluid plan.
June 30, 2022 at 3:05 pm #239664The plan is youth? And what happens when that doesn’t work?
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face…..

June 30, 2022 at 3:22 pm #239672The club knows full well that the fans are in panic.
TOTAL SILENCE.
That really worries me more than any other single factor.
Is LT not able to to reassure? Is KH gagged? Is the owner twiddling his thumbs?3 users thanked author for this post.
June 30, 2022 at 4:00 pm #239685Perhaps Keith’s plan has not been granted planning permission by the powers that be?
Wouldn’t that have a certain irony!
June 30, 2022 at 4:16 pm #239693The plan is to keep in employment as long as possible

June 30, 2022 at 4:16 pm #239694The youth part of the plan will be OK, it’s cheap. The problem might lie with the experience needed for balance which could be too expensive at the moment. That will be cheaper when the offerings have been picked over and just the oddments are left.

July 1, 2022 at 12:41 am #239726the Club knows fans are worried yet remains totally tight lipped on everything except advertising streams to relieve them of their hard earned cash .. season tickets to restaurant hospitality when all we want to know is THE PLAN or at least regular updates not this total radio silence.. seems to me obvious that the owners /those running this shambolic situation of a club dont really give a shit about the fans at all.. and as for Hill having a plan .. thats a joke his plan from day one was to keep his job as long as possible, he has zero affinity with the club and IMO doesnt give a toss just stumbling from one cliche filled excuse to another whilst sucking Swanns ball sack along the way to extend his working life before job seekers .
Crap clueless manager get rid ASAP.
Im expecting a few signings from now on as more player become available … waiting with baited breath to see just who the messiah Hill lands.

July 1, 2022 at 7:01 am #239727On the basis that KH must be sacked even if he should succeed with his ‘new squad’ – we might as well sack now as failure is the only possible outcome having seen how sparse this squad is.
As we have apparently reached a point where only the insane, the unhinged or the downright crazy would accept the post – do please give a rational explanation as to who is going to manage this shambles after his departure.July 1, 2022 at 2:36 pm #239753I think we have reached a point in time when we can’t expect to sack our manager and expect to get someone better. I have to admit I’m disappointed in Kieth after looking at his achievements from before he came to Scunny. But the thought of getting someone even worse really bothers me.
July 1, 2022 at 4:45 pm #239756If youth doesn’t work there’s always the following season they will all be experienced by then. At the moment we’ve got a team that more or less that will play it’s best players every week no chopping and changing that’s got to be good news.
July 1, 2022 at 4:51 pm #239758That depends how badly it ‘doesn’t work’ because it’s no good if we’re relegated again. What’s good news about a small squad when the injuries start piling up, as they do every season now?

July 1, 2022 at 5:46 pm #239767Youth? – Bring ’em on!
One teeny problem – they do need experienced heads taking up more than half the first team in any one game.July 1, 2022 at 10:33 pm #239796God hp us…….
July 1, 2022 at 10:35 pm #239797Keith has a plann. God help us…….

As we have apparently reached a point where only the insane, the unhinged or the downright crazy would accept the post – do please give a rational explanation as to who is going to manage this shambles after his departure. Not sure it counts as a rational plan but the history books show how keen Swann has been quick to sack other managers who had a much better points tally ratio than our current chap at the helm..
For me it just shows that Swann has washed his hands of the club installed Turnbill as his mouth piece lakky and now is just after out via a sale or liquidation as either way he wins ,,,hes doesnt give a toss about whose in charge as its of no interest to him… my rational is why keep Hill this is gonna turn into another protracted disaster as was Cox. Yes agree wtf would replace Hill .. i cannot even think of anyone stupid enough to want the job also with the club in his current state of limbo.. IF Hill is to be believed and has a plan lets be having it out in the open and see some players signing as without we are proper fooked this coming season.I totally supported Hill arrival but you can only go on what he has achieved ..relegation and a very poor win ratio possibly the worst of any Scunny manager in historymeans my opinion has shifted and i see him as some one just along for the ride collecting his salary , he made some really strange selection decisions , players not wanting to play and shows little ambition , talks in cliches and sucks up to Swann to prolong his pay check. , we wont get anywhere with his youth only plan as it stands now..
Thats my opinion and rational .. in truth would the club be better without swann ..yes please most definately ..new owners a must … without hill i dont think it would change much hes been crap and i would take Ronald Macdonald over him now at least he might be able to land a few new players as it appears Hill n Co cannot unless they are from Rochdale , Tranmere or some how connected which leads me to say .. how much have we fallen that we are crying out for Rochdale rejects and has beens to be signed .. reiterates just how shit we really are.
Whatever team we field next season ..i sahll offer my 100% support i hope the youngsters can get us enough points to stay up ..alas a Cod style promotion push isnt on the cards IMO

July 2, 2022 at 11:58 am #239832Almost everyone on here was of the same opinion when Hill was appointed.
That he was the best available manager at the time (let’s leave Adkins out of it!).
The stats since he took over says it all. The malaise at Scunthorpe United runs far, far deeper than the head coach and his team.
I have a plan to build an extension at the back of the house, but I’m not going to get it done by salvaging breeze-blocks from a builder’s skip!
July 2, 2022 at 12:08 pm #239836You might get it built NI but the chances of it staying up will be slim, I spot an analogy here.

Good post … i would add the appointed site foreman for your extension build must take some resposibility for the selection of poor employees and shoddy outcome.
Re signings …the silence is deafening, i keep logging into the website in the hope of a major signing an experienced player or 2 or 3 or 5 being enticed … alas nothing , na ..nada…just chatter about trials n possible loan deals via Rochdale of course.
It aint looking very promising at the moment guys
July 3, 2022 at 7:09 am #239911Stats need proper interpretation and a balanced overview.
(We have all heard the expression ‘lies, damned lies and statistics.’)
I am surrounded by family and friends who are statisticians.
If prevailing circumstances are not taken into account – stats are without any value.
If the England test selectors get a new coach, can he be judged on results?
Yes, of course.
BUT what if, he is told that he is not allowed to have any players in his squad with previous test experience?
What then is the inevitable outcome? – A 100% defeat record.
Do we then blame the hapless coach? (Many SUFC supporters would naturally say, “Of course!”)
OR do we wait to see what he can/cannot do when not under impossible restraints.
KH will surely have a below par squad – but one which may not be as bad as that of last season.
Under those constraints, a reasonable target is perhaps required. After all, we shall be in an allegedly weaker division.
My suggestion is that if we are anywhere above – say 8th from bottom – in early October, he will have proved himself.2 users thanked author for this post.
July 3, 2022 at 10:00 am #239914True,statistics do not tell the whole story.I just wished he had told us the truth that players were not playing for him earlier rather than getting his violin out at the end of the season
