From Wiki (so it must be true)
In March 2024, Corbett joined National League North side Scunthorpe United on loan, until the end of the 2023–24 season.
On 12 May 2024, Peterborough announced the player had been transfer-listed.

    Go get him.

Bad news, they might want a fee then? Not silly money I hope, virtually no senior experience so not many clubs will have seen him.

He was looking like our best player and Dean inexplicably dropped him from the squad for the biggest game. He was great on the ball and tracked back numerous times- he would be Butler’s kind of player, hard working and fit

Indeed only JD knows why Corbett didnt figure in the game against Boston .. not even on the bench and like you said IA he looked a real handful up front yet always back covering , worked tirelessly and linked up well with DWh.

We’ve already got 2 contracted right mids in Roberts and Law. Can’t see either leaving.

Law is a left winger. Law is a natural left footer. Corbett can play right and left hand side and play in the no 10 role. Perfect player to have really as he’s extremely versatile.

Not quite sure we’d have the money though.

Played LMF when I saw him which suits if Butler wants his wide MFs to cut in and shoot It seems to be fashionable at the moment, a replacement/improvement on DS-F? There’s also a possibility that Law & Roberts could be unavailable.

The only reason I can guess Corbett didn’t make the squad against Boston may have been injury, he had played the previous one and a half games with his thigh strapped up but JD never even mentioned him in the build up. Doesn’t really matter now it’s all immaterial but he would be a very good signing from what we saw of him last season.

Only ever saw him play left wing for us. Definitely need more wingers if all we’re left with is Roberts and Law, they’ll be crocked for half the season.

He may have fallen under the radar of a goodly number of other clubs having hardly played for us.
Might just be the chance of a free transfer.
Or why not offer to take him for free as a favour to them for the season. If his development is top notch – they could keep him at the end of his contract.

Peterborough always offload players with 1 yr left on their contracts and get whatever fee they can for them. They wouldn’t be interested in loaning him out. They’ve obviously decided he’s not good enough for them.

You’re right, he is left footed, Jimmy definitely has him on the right at points last year though.

I still can’t see Kai coming in to be sat behind Roberts, he’s going to want to be starting every week. Despite Robert’s poor injury record we are not going to have the luxury to have 2/3 players for each position this year.

If we could get him for nowt or close to it and he fits the wage structure I would have him in a flash.

Even without Law and Roberts injury concerns we need an additional wide player. Corbett is more skillful, harder working and more resilient than Law on the evidence I saw.

Cliff, if we get Corbett he’ll be automatic pick to play on the left hand side. Much, much better player than Law and won’t break down every 5 minutes. Corbett can play in 3 different positions so he’ll be comfortable on the left and played there for us season just gone.

He’ll oust Law without doubt. If any club would be stupid enough to take Law of us, I’d offload him sharpish. I think he has ability, but he’s rarely fit and we can’t afford to carry passengers this coming season.

We can’t, but he’s already here and probably on a decent wage. I suspect AB will bring in cover for both sides but my gut says it certainly won’t be the calibre of Corbett.

Only realistic scenario would potentially be another Loan? But if Boro have him Transfer listed it sounds like they’d rather get rid.

Any player down to their last year automatically there end up on the transfer list and all are let go permanently. Always get fee’s back, no matter how big or small and it’s been that way for years.

Either we pay money for him or he won’t be coming. I can’t quite believe we signed Law when he’s as injury prone as he is because he was always breaking down when at Mansfield too. Another Hilton masterstroke.

The other winger Roberts is brilliant, but he’s on a small fortune for this level and he’s hardly somebody you could ever be 100% confident in due to his track record with injuries.

If we got a fee and cleared his wage “which would be enough to bring two players in”, would you think it would be a good idea to move him on ?

WG agree re Law n Roberts , add Beestin to the injury prone list if he stays … for now its a case of lets see which players are gonna want to except the new deals and stay and go from there .. i really hope Butterfield stays. Still a tad surprised both Pugh n DSF have gone.

IMO AB and his staff will have their work cut out enticing players to sign so the loan market will be key.

Those regularly injured should have gone. We cannot afford them and why I would have kept Tom Pugh.

Some players will come here as their 1st choice at the moment we are a better prospect for league success. That is why our attitude in all games from 1st friendly to last league must be to WIN. No setting up to cope with others, go at opponents from 1st whistle.

I would have kept Ferris and would have moved Roberts on personally. I really like him, but he’s best paid player and a just tad unreliable.

He’s on a big wage (allegedly) so probably out of reach for NL and much of L2. Why would he leave for less money? See my post above – where do they go?

Nothing more boring in football than transfer speculation. We’ll sign who we sign and we can worry about it next season.

Remember the old ” David O’Leary spotted at Forest Pines ” back in the managerial guessing game days? Was going so well till he fell into a bunker on the 16th hole and never managed to get out.

David O’ leary back in the day was also spotted at Wortley Hotel and the bread section in the Asda close to the ground. So close, yet so far. If the ink in the biro didn’t run out before he signed on the dotted line, he’d be still managing us now.

I can’t quite remember Robert’s supposed wage posted on here, but if that was correct he’s on more than a grand a week !
