Has anyone heard the east car park has been/ is being sold? Has anyone heard the training ground has been/ going to be sold? Did I see somewhere the current owner was looking for new training facilities? What’s wrong with the one we have, great facilities,mm, I don’t understand it.

The new owner mentioned getting new training facilities built from his first day here, were you sleeping or just not listening 🤔

The way we’re playing I reckon the training facilities must have been sold off months ago!

Don’t you find it a bit strange how the club still hasn’t been fully signed offer to Hilton yet ?

    Taking time, isn’t it ?

That’s why 1899 was launched, the gambler will be waiting a long time for his payout.

I was of the understanding he’d paid for it out right but was just waiting for the clubs assets to be moved over to him.

What the hell is going on ?

Just an opinion, for what it’s worth. My impression is that Hilton has bought the Club and was hoping the fans would buy the ground. There’s also the surrounding land to consider.

I hope your opinion is right Cass, best of both worlds there.

In an ideal world, yes. Not if enough supporters can’t afford £1899 it isn’t.

If he wanted fans to contribute why not start with a manager who’s not useless and can learn about more than one formation? play entertaining football and get them through the gate is the first step to getting them interested – so many wasted opportunities with large followings. Owner and manager both come from part time football and it shows

I was being sarcastic Deerey, as if the fans are going to buy the ground, priced to high for an average joe let Swanny keep it, like I said best of both worlds keep him on the sidelines might need him soon people aren’t happy with Hilton already.

Lol, probably just me then, not understanding your subtle use of sarcasm. Though Hilton seems to think the initiative would work, or why else would he do it? Regarding keeping Swann on the sidelines – sarcasm again or do you mean that? If he still owns it, might he start charging rent or sell it? A tad worrying dont you think?

All the more reason to buy the ground imo but I’m on my own on that one. Heaven forbid a landlord charging rent. York were charged 1.65 million for the first ten year lease.

Deerey is right, it’s bloody worrying. Swann could quite easily charge rent if Hilton doesn’t stump up the money.

A new chairman and still nobody really truly knows what’s going on when it comes to full club ownership.

Agree with the last sentence, which explains why he didn’t think Dean was useless.

Hilton has been proactive inasmuch as he’s thrown a lot of resources at try to keep the club in this division. Can’t fault the effort even if the decision making has been questionable.

He’s done the same with the 1899 “incentive”. Huge ask to expect 1899 individuals to fork out £1,899 and it looks like it’s not going to bring in the revenue required to completely buy out the previous owner.

    Is there a Plan B?

Lots of theories on twitter about deadlines to buy ground off Swann being missed and Hilton now removing himself from that platform(not a bad thing really). All I know is that it is all a bit strange – we’ll see where May gets us.

Maybe this is not over by a long way.

He removed himself from Twitter last night after a series of exchanges with someone throwing around all sorts of accusations about his past. The exchange looked very messy. Got the impression it wasn’t an Iron supporter. Probably best left at that You’re right, probably for the best he’s come off Twitter. Thought this is worth clarifying before anyone starts blaming Iron fans moaning.

All sorts of rumours doing the rounds. I assume we’ve all heard something but for obvious reasons daren’t put it into print.

Not got a good feeling about it tbh.

I think best err on the side of caution. Seems to be more questions than answers though. We’ll see. Be good if we had some sort of regular club update explaining things. It would help circumvent a lot of rumour. One thing I know, I’m glad I never Tweet, or post anything on the Scunny Fans Facebook Group. Bru’s very civilised in comparison!

This is why I’m having trouble getting my head round this. In the ‘Grimsby’ Telegraph, Hilton said this. (Below.)

“Mr Hilton said: “I’m pleased to say the takeover has now been completed, and the deal includes the football club, stadium and surrounding land.“

Is that what could be described as a falsehood?

I think the rub will be in ‘the deal’. We’ve never been given details have we? Just my opinion.

Don’t think you can hold Hilton to account when it comes to regular updates to many imo.

For balance Hilton said the full deal would be concluded on or before 24th May, which was the initial date agreed upon purchase of the club.

What updates? I don’t class his old Tweets as ‘updates’ of much substance tbh. The updates on the website and official Twitter feed are meat and two veg stuff about the team or trying to sell us stuff. Have we had any interviews with him or further updates about the club’s situation? Like you often say awaywego, the owner can do as he pleases. Fair enough, I’d prefer a bit more substance though, and doubt I’m alone.

Some people made a show of themselves on Facebook/Twitter yesterday, didn’t they.

As Deerey says it wasn’t anyone connected to SUFC but didn’t stop some.

“He was abused by a Scunny Fan”
“And where did you read that?”
“Oh i heard it from someone”
