Barton’s argument that knowledge of the male Premier League game/top class football is a necessity, which women lack experience of playing in, is undermined by the likes of Michael Owen and Danny Murphy talking utter guff on a regular basis.

Emma Hayes response to the Barton comments was a master class in dignity, common sense and decorum, something he has never achieved in his entire career IMO.

Is that the same Emma Hayes who said women’s football should be open to a closed league and franchised teams and that women and girls football is middle class, and said all women’s premier league grounds should have undersoil heating, please don’t forget where her teams play their home games lol. We must listen more to Emma, Gary lineker and john Barnes.

She may have some ideas which are daft, but that doesn’t mean her thoughts here won’t be.

To be fair she’s always bleating on about women’s game needing to be more on parity monetarily to men’s football. Annoys the shite out of me because she fails to understand it works on the money generated and interested generated which coincides with the money they’re are deserving of.

Despite that and the fact she tends to go on and on when she’s commentated on matches in the past, while trying to come across as if she’s reinvented the wheel, Barton is simply being Barton. ]

Not saying he’s right by any means but always take what he say’s as pinch of salt, he’s made a career out of being controversial.

I usually take what he says as a large crock of s*** tbh. Like claiming Burnley is a ‘socialist club’. Even Clarets fans thought that was absurd.

Should have been kicked out of football the day after he stubbed a cigar out on a Man City junior players eye at there Christmas party! The man’s a tool and hopefully won’t be reemployed in football every again

I watched the Stockport-Aldershot game in the FA Cup last night on BBC. After the game, the male ex-pro asked the goalscorer, Olly Scott, what was going through his head as he struck the ball which would score the winning goal.

I sat there wishing that Olly said he was thinking about how to unifying the quantum physics with general relativity. If the quality of questions is that from male ex-pros, I struggle to take seriously claims about how playing the male game is needed to be a pundit.

Like anything in life, it’s fair to say there are good commentators and bad ones, some obvious and others open to personal preference. It’s not as simple as basing it on gender. Some excellent managers had top level playing careers, others didn’t.
It would be interesting for Emma Hayes to manage an EFL/EPL team.

Perhaps best not to tell AWG that Rebecca Welch is to be the first female to referee a Premier League game. She reffed Hull v Rotherham late last month, and gave one of the better performances from a referee recently.

I think their biggest failing is being carbon copies of the people we’ve seen for years, it was a hope that they would be far better and bring some new language into commentary and no more “he’s gone and done him ” etc
