July 30, 2023 at 7:37 pm #267886If only the subject hadn’t reared its head in football Plymiron, sure we would all be happy, who did introduce rainbow lace day into football.
July 30, 2023 at 7:45 pm #267887Was it the same bloke who introduced shin pads 🤔😂
July 30, 2023 at 7:46 pm #267889Why
July 31, 2023 at 3:15 am #267897During the coronation and Queen’s death there was saturated coverage and some people put flags out. I understand why, and have nothing against national mourning for the figurehead or celebration at the coronation, but some don’t like it. It would be wrong to act on the whims of those who don’t like it to spoil others’ fun. Just do what republicans do during such times; ignore it. No-one’s forcing others to participate.
a fair point SID but a monarchs death and subsequent coronation are for the most part a once in a lifetime or very most a generation event where as this hair flicking look at me Pride stuff is being rammed at you at every juncture and at such a prolific rate unlike rare major events making it very hard to avoid.
I do have strong attitude to this issue with the most recent experience solidifying my opinion as whilst cabined up between the heavy rain downpours i nipped to 7 11 for some supplies only to be accosted by a group of what i can only describe as very colourful scantily clad fruitcakes direct from the nearby pride knees up ,one with GAY written on its chest as if that wasnt obvious enough… now i am a very tolerant person and all that im ok with just leave me alone but when the larger village people policeman lookalike started to molest and annoy me i had to politely ask him to fook off then i automatically became a homophobic monster.I am neither a racist or homophobic my missus is mix race and kids are a dark chocolate brown colour we have numerous friends who are gay lesbian trans and one even who identifies as a Grimsby fan.
All this be careful what you say and ..you cant say that never happened in the good old days of chicken in a basket and Camp coffee ..the world is going bonkers and im told even Little Britain has been cancelled for depicting real life in the guise of humour ..sacre bleu
Anyway enough of this Plyiron is correct BACK TO THE FOOTY …. im predicting a ever growing parade of EPL EFL “stars” heading to Saudi as for sure even without a rainbow theres a pot of gold waiting for them. ( see what i did there :) )

July 31, 2023 at 5:34 pm #267950I have worked on Pride London and what is now [ride in london, bloody marvellous events.
The one in Scunthorpe is a scaled down event in Church square ,I am sure it won’t effect the bigots on here like awaywego etc.
Their ignorance in what pride is about also shines through, most of those events are still led by the gay community but are inclusive and a chance for all in the community to come together and just have a bloody good time together ,odd but I bet awaywego hates Frod Road etc because “they don’t mix” . Go enjoy yourselves,if you catch gayness I am sure somebody will sell you some snake oil and cure you or post you a cranky youtube vidJuly 31, 2023 at 6:05 pm #267957Annual events can still be ignored if you don’t like it.
Unfortunately, such celebrations can lead to alcohol and overstepping boundaries to affect others’ boundaries. I don’t see why this should impact feelings towards Pride any more than boozy concert goers or Friday night drunken louts acting like idiots. Despite them acting out, we don’t get so irate about festivals, concerts or nightclubs.
I would like to see Pride be more family friendly, since children go, and feel that kink people need to be ostracised. I know of many gay people, through interacting with them or reading their opinions, and they don’t like how Pride seems a lot more extravagent now (it alienates them as they say their sexuality is just an aspect of them, and they don’t go with the overly camp nature of some of it). That said, I don’t see how this can’t be met with reasonable accommodations and not binning them off altogether. They do form a celebration of acceptance for a minority group who have been downtrodden, and still are in many parts of the world.
July 31, 2023 at 6:48 pm #267958Love frod road it’s walking off it that can be a problem, most vibrant place in town till at least 11pm, I’m sure that you’ve noticed 64 other than the pro’s it appears to be all men socializing in groups, I don’t think the men like the women going out can’t blame them really the men dress in fashionable western clothes and their women tend to dress with the obligatory head scarf, multi coloured top, opaque tights with socks and a pair of flat shoes there not a pretty sight to behold. Shame they haven’t got their own social clubs, the Ukraine club at one time was open for all but is shut now, very rarely do you here of any trouble from them and though plenty of flags can be seen down there non of them are rainbow ones long may it continue. Ps 64 you may have worked on pride events, but is quite obvious you don’t attend you talk of people having a bloody good time and from all of your posts you obviously dont.
August 1, 2023 at 3:08 am #267965sorry to remain off topic again as im guessing Hendo hasnt been in any of the following places but …
Indeed theres a blast from the past Frod rd .. loved it going down as far as Honest Lawyer , Blue Bell then the Brit .. all those Indian restaurants and my favourite location was Wilsons Chippy , there was many moons ago the Polish Club on the corner at Ferry rd end.
Cant recall the name of the bar more or less opposite the Brit next to Brit corner public bogs .. a Greek fella had it i think ??…oh and Berkley bar,Pickwicks ,Taverin in Town, Garbos Henrys Cocked Hat while reminiscing… my pub of choice after a shift was The Queens on Rowland Rd.
Out of that lot how many are still open , my daughter said loads of pubs closed in Scunny.
August 1, 2023 at 9:22 am #267971I think the place near the Brit Corner bogs was a German themed Bierkeller type bar.
Can’t remember the actual name though.
Some of us can recall drinking in the Furnace Arms at 6:00 in the morning after coming off nights!
August 1, 2023 at 9:28 am #267973Awaywego, events are fun for me, we close the roads, very early mind you, and then get to relax with only a close eye on the phone or radio dependent on the event for any issues and the call to reopen,so much of our time can be exploring the event .It’s a fun job I enjoy it and have many laughs. My spare time is usually socialising ,weekends away holidays and making musical instruments. It’s awful,no wonder I’m so miserable as you clearly figured out. I do take time out on Sundays to listen to a 12″ and have a cuppa,
