That seems to be the root of the pessimism of some on here.
He’s gone. You can talk to me if you’re finding it hard.
If i see him on Broadway with a pint of Carling, i’ll let you know.
    Enjoy the game today.

Quote from awaywego. Absurd. I’d wager the number that wanted Butler were far fewer than those that weren’t overly keen but understood the logic of the appointment and were prepared to accept the Board’s decision.

3 nil up and looking much fitter and at it than anything under Dean. All this ‘Butler’s a defender / not going to be attacking enough’ stuff looks a bit premature now. And unfounded. Really positive front footed second half

Nice to see Beestin scoring a couple, not one I would have kept but fair play he came on strong at the end of last season, and obviously done excellent today, can only stand himself in good stead and the team as well, from Deereys comments we were on the front foot for much of the game, well done Butler a great start from you.

I couldn’t really understand the downbeat and disparaging comments as to where we currently are as a squad, with many posters claiming we’d not really do anything this season.

Only one game in, but as a collective unit we look miles ahead of where we were last season. Players are much fitter and we look more organized and robust. Butler now actually reads the game and makes subs, we have more height and strength and won’t be bullied like last season.

Whitehall and Roberts were both off it, but apart from that we eased to victory without really ever getting out of second gear. Also to all the poster who were harping on about Butterfield as if he was the reincarnation of Zidane. Brogan came on and had the calmness and class which stood out at this level.

In my opinion if Whitehall doesn’t pull his finger out pretty sharpish I wouldn’t be surprised if we won’t be seeing Beestin and Carlton up front before too long. One potential problem is Roberts because going by that performance he positionally can’t play centrally. One word to describe that performance was awkward.

Brogan looked miles better and we as a team did as a result.

Kick down those Butterfield shrines folks, he’s long gone. I suggest you get building for Brogan.

Over the moon with the win.

Brogan looked very good when he came on and set up Beestin to score with a clever cross into the box after some neat build up play. Apart from a slight wobble just after halftime when Fitz made two decent saves in quick time we never looked under any serious pressure and a cracker by Boyce at the far post after a great Clunan ball in settled it. As the second half wore on we were by far the stronger and fitter team and Butler must be well chuffed about how his preseason training schedules have worked out, I can see us winning a lot of games this season from 70 minutes onwards. Great start guys well done.

Agree with Butterfield as gone and time to move on.
But you an injustice to him he was the Zidane of Nln last season.

Yellow card, bans will follow for anyone using the manager name + ball formulation. Nearly as annoying as people who say “footy”.

On the topic of our ex-manager, has this exciting young manager been snapped up by another club this summer?

I think the usual BS is along the lines of ‘in between jobs’. Heard a rumour he was in Cyprus, Spain or somewhere but probably just nonsense.
