I can’t help noticing that a lot of the last week’s signings have come from clubs they only joined last summer.

    Chapman
    Elliott
    Shields
    McDonagh

Is this a bad sign, or is it just a reflection of where we are at the moment? I think Sembie-Ferris is the only permanent signing who had been with his previous club for more than 6 months.

Just so long as they can oust Nelson’s reformed players by simply being better than them.

Hope the “”misfits”” can be combined along with some of Nelsons reformed players n youngsters to form a good mix .. nowt wrong with a bit more competition for places and so glad to see the new keeper come in….all very positive from where we were a mere fortnight ago.

Competition for places was desperately needed, no doubt about that at all.

Two ways of looking at a lot of these signings: something to prove vs. quickly discarded. Time will tell!

They have some time to train together now, I hope they use this wisely. We want a team, not a bunch of individuals attempting to prove a point.

A good description of your posts, though I would change it to known to one.

There appear to be some discards already.
Taft, McDonagh, Rowe look certain and Daniel, Fewster, Shields and DS-F are on the edge. Unlikely to be a future here for Hallam and O’Malley and it surely won’t take Jimmy long to put Carver in the discard pile. Maybe one or two of the youngsters out on loan might get a chance to impress here?

He mumbled something vaguely comprehensible about the subs making a difference didn’t he…mate? Surely Shields has a chance?

didn’t Richards-Everton join Yeovil in the Summer as well, I thought Shields looked quite lively when he came on.

Honestly can’t see this team doing anything with him he’s totally out of his depth. Better off serving pints in his pub.

He’ll be fire proof until / if it goes to the dogs in NLN next season.

    “ Two sure fire signs you are incompetent;
    1) You don’t think you’re incompetent 2) people tell you you’re incompetent

    3) You piss yourself! Oh, that’s incontinent, always get those 2 mixed up, that’s why I was sacked…”

Let’s hope Jimbob’s misfits don’t misfire this afternoon.

If we can get three points and the other games go our way, then we’re still on our feet swinging.

3 points for us and results going our way mean we fight on.

    Jimbob McClueless (OWS)

He’s been on eBay again, ain’t he?
Purchased a boat load of MS18s.
At £530 a time that’s a big layout for one each.

19 players on the books at this stage then.

    Jimbob’s misfits (end of contracts):

    Ben Richards-Everton
    Colin Daniel
    Daniel Gallimore
    Elliott Whitehouse
    George Taft
    Jack Moore-Billam
    Jordan Hallam
    Liam Feeney
    Mason O’Malley
    Sean Shields.

So we had a 35 man squad at NL.
That’s 21 players being paid not to play each game – assuming 3 substitutions are made in each game.
    21 players!
I bet the physios love big squads with a few sick notes in them – keeps them in a job.
A 24 man squad next season should suffice?
    Let’s save a few quid!

Whitehouse should be kept and maybe Shields BRE .. Rance binned

TBH after the disaster season weve just experienced im fed up of trying to work out who we will start next season with as non of JDs decisions make much sense to me from his arrival Taft n Whitehouse faces didnt fit ..i thought the idea is the let JD sign his own players not chuck a few newbies in with the left overs from this bunch .. if thats what happens then it will go even more pear shaped.

I am not hopeful or remotely confident in how things appear to be heading .. talk is cheap its actions that count.

Having been an England U16 international and Man Utd Youth player followed by a couple of seasons as a Pro (no appearances) with the Red Devils, Mr Hilton is now getting to live his dream.
I’d guess that the players brought in were players he ‘fancied’?
Jimbob is just the puppet fronting the ‘punch & Judy’ show.
Didn’t Mr Swann like to have a massive input to match days? Formations & selections?
It’s Mr Hilton’s Xbox / PlayStation… so I guess he can do as he likes?

Nothing like bending the facts to suit your narrative.

Look again at the list and you will see Dean (possibly) had a hand in 2 of them being here. The rest were down to Cox, Hill or Swann.

Richards Everton was not the quickest or fittest centre back we have ever signed but he was a big upgrade on Taft who has been sh1te since his loan period ended.

Shields looked to have something to offer but he was given a few opportunities and delivered nothing

Agree Rance has done nothing so far so fair to judge Dean on that choice. The rest of the team had pretty much given up the fight by the time he arrived so let’s see how he performs next season.

Of the players already on a deal for next year only Sembie-Ferris, Chapman and Elliott are (probably) Dean choices. For the rest deals were in place from the Swann era. It is obvious from the OWS announcement that Hilton/Dean would like at least some of those to depart before August. The queue to sign them won’t be a long one.

I don’t think Dean has covered himself in glory in his 17 games but let’s not be blaming him and or Hilton for the debacle they inherited.

I’d assume that Richards-Everton will be in demand and has zero desire to play NLN football. Where can we get a couple of CBs as good, I wonder?
Moore-Bilham? – I’d thought that there was a player in there.
As for Mason – my feelings are distinctly mixed.

Disappointed to see Jordan Hallam leave, thought he was worth another 2 year contract at the very least.

Yes agree ..but look on the bright side , DH can save a few quid for a service on his new motor and lay off one Physio and sell the treatment table Hallam had called his own for years.

Im still trying to get my head round another regular crockaholic in Rance staying possibly on 1500 quid a week whilst Whitehouse has been shown the door.

By the time a few of the contracted players have jumped ship ie Ogle n Butterfield etc the squad will be pretty much rag tag n bobtail misfits as the topic header suggests.

You never know, once he’s fully over that injury he brought with him, he might prove to be player of next season? Stranger things have happened.
