April 22, 2023 at 5:32 pm #260679The man has no idea.
There has been no improvement anywhere on the pitch.
We are poor and his substitutions make no difference – and often make it worse.
New manager for next season please.

April 22, 2023 at 6:24 pm #260692It’s the players – the only common denominator.
My biggest worry for next season is how many are still under contract.
Getting rid of contracted players isn’t easy.3 users thanked author for this post.
April 22, 2023 at 6:48 pm #260697He got the subs right, both Shrimpton and Wilson in danger of being sent off after petulant bookings, they both behaved like children today and should get bollocked for it. Butterfield should have been on at half time for Shrimpton but Dean got it right early second half, these two young Scunny players have plenty to offer the club but both need to grow up fast.

Played 17, won 3
But you can’t criticize him it’s not his team even though there’s 36 new players1 user thanked author for this post.

Getting rid of contracted players isn’t easy.My worry too, Les.
The end of this season will have scarred some players.
I keep banging on about every week but we really have to sign strong characters next year, lads who are going to inspire and motivate by whatever means necessary and instil some resilience in this lot. Lads who have enough professional pride that won’t ever stand for themselves or team mates putting in effort like we have the last couple of months.
Get the spine of the team right and then your younger lads like Shrimpton and better quality players like Elliot will flourish.
Get it wrong and we will finish bottom half next year and possibly worse.
April 22, 2023 at 8:13 pm #260711Kevin philips walked away from South Shields, won’t be coming here I would have made a big push for him after we played them in the cup, lower leg manager or not.
April 22, 2023 at 8:25 pm #260712Getting rid of contracted players isn’t easy … ha ha yeah right .. who the hell would want to stay here & play under this clown Jimmy Dean

Jimbob – post Southend.Err, yup it can.
And how things are playing out, they will do.April 22, 2023 at 8:40 pm #260714Blyth Spartans getting relegated from NLN with 11 wins.
Dean, no matter what players, won’t get 11 wins next season. Getting subs right is great when you’re 3-0 down. His is devoid of any tactics or football knowledge. Experience in NLN is another red herring. If Hilton (or SUFC) is around for the summer he needs to start afresh or give Nelson his chance he should’ve got before1 user thanked author for this post.

Getting rid of contracted players isn’t easy. It’s a real conundrum. Which is more difficult:-
Getting rid of contracted players or
Anybody who played today and isn’t contracted for next season getting a contract above Sunday League levelApril 22, 2023 at 9:07 pm #260718He definitely says it as he sees it in his post match interviews .
Never heard anything like it .
‘9 players were injured today …..apparently ‘
Do not know if he is the manager to get players on side like ‘flogging dead horses ‘ he said .1 user thanked author for this post.

Do not know if he is the manager to get players on side like ‘flogging dead horses ‘ he said .Sounded about right to me .. a raft of players all of a sudden getting “injuries” so they arent involved in the end of season debacle n boo fest ..it appears one Taft even resorted to self harming to avoid being selected.
Noted it also appears some have been trying to get sent off to avoid the embarrassment of being chosen to play anymore.
This is what it has come too

Getting rid of contracted players isn’t easy.Which players? The 14 signed since January? A number of the contracted players for next season are Dean signings (Chapman, Elliott) and most of the others are just inexperienced youngsters (Lewis, Foster, Shrimpton). And Tom Pugh whose contract was extended under Dean’s watch I believe.
Aside from Beestin, I don’t think any of the contracted players were with the club in August (in the first team at least), so why do we think that another complete overhaul will make any difference? We’ve been throwing the pieces up in the air every 6 months for years and we keep getting worse results. At some point, we need to consider other options.
April 25, 2023 at 10:09 am #261022I’ve just been watching a few Jimmy Dean pre-match and post-match interviews. Apart from the overuse of “you know” as fillers, what struck me was just how uncomfortable he is in the interviews. He keeps touching and scratching his hair, neck, ears, nose, face as a ‘soother’.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a manager look so uncomfortable in interviews.

July 30, 2023 at 5:26 pm #267866Jimmy Dean- the new Brian Laws!
July 30, 2023 at 6:49 pm #267880I will still assess after 10 games in, somewhere near or in and the top 7 more about the performances to begin with Imo.
July 30, 2023 at 7:28 pm #267885..as you know ,getting Brian Laws into one of my posts is always a priority!
July 31, 2023 at 9:08 am #267903From season start the target must be to go unbeaten in the league. Get promotion resolved as soon as it is possible.
This will build the gates and then revenues will increase from ticket sales, media sales and catering turnover provided they actually improve it unlike our previous 5 seasons where it seemed a hindrance !
Away at Tamworth will be the opportunity to show what we intend doing. Best wishes to them all.

July 31, 2023 at 10:20 am #267905we will know more come this Saturday .. to be fairer lets say by the end of August after 2 away and 2 home fixtures it should be clearer how the season may pan out .. top middle of bottom.
IMO a bit daft for some to have firstly called JD a pub league coach and now it seems for others hes a managerial genius just cos of a decent pre season…
hes being given his chance so lets see how it goes.
I remain optimistic.
July 31, 2023 at 10:32 am #267907Let’s be right he is now in a league he was comfortable in with a small team and a nothing budget, he should be able to prove himself with the current set up he’s managing, completely different animal to Peterborough Sports.
