I would love to see an Iron stats analysis of results when we play 3 centre backs and when we play 2.
All of our many managers going back to Alexander can’t seem to stop themselves trying this as a solution to defensive problems.
Fails more often than it succeeds in my view – certainly at L2 level.
Don’t be surprised if you see three at the back tomorrow.
I reckon 4-1-4-1 with one of the left footed CBs playing on the right.
Maybe:-
Howard
Clarke Taft Bedeau O’Malley
Karacan
Gilliead Beestin Spence Eisa/Hippolyte
Loft
I’d be happyish with that.
Would prefer 4411 as we have been doing with Green in instead of Spence/Beestin (maybe Beestin’s turn for a rest) then Green or Gillead playing off Loft.
It will probably be the same formation with 1 striker and Eisa and Gillead high up on the wings.
Beestin sitting like he was last match with Karacan and Spence infront of him with Eisa, Loft and gillead.
I think it will be
Howard
O’Malley Taft Bedeau Clarke
Beestin
Karacan Spence
Eisa Gillead
Loft
a good listen the interview with Mike White, it was Mark Howard who brought him to the club after talks with Neil, and talks very highly of Nigel Adkins from his time at Reading.
Hopefully we have a bit of time to get a striker in. Not impressed that Loft is still at the head of the team selections above.
There can’t me many players who get ratings of 2 or 3 after matches, yet appears to be an automatic selection. Shows how limited the choices are and the lack of effort being put in by players like McAtee.
Would prefer to have Green or Hippolyte to Loft and tell the defenders to stop pointlessly booting the ball upfield.
Nigel Adkins opinion of Jem in a reply to me on Twitter “ Jem is a fantastic character, a real wholehearted team player. Obviously he’s not played for a while however when he played for me at Reading he was tenacious in the tackle, would run non stop and is a good passer of the ball.” so let’s give the lad a chance and not judge him on a couple of games.
