I have no idea what this guy is doing playing for us but I’m very grateful that he’s still here.
Looks like Messi, passes like Pirlo, properly two footed, happy to let others chase around after the ball while he remains in his oasis of calm. The classiest, most stylish player we’ve had since Paul Hayes’ last stint.
That free kick and the nonchalant celebration were things of absolute beauty. Hope he’s around a while longer for more moments like that.

October 9, 2023 at 9:03 am #275070Agree 100% ..the guy is a real gem.
The interview he gave post Brackley was excellent , he comes across as being a really nice honest fella. I hope he stays with Scunny for many more years and gets up back in the EFL.
He is class.

October 9, 2023 at 1:08 pm #275119Players like him are what makes football. Quality. Already my favourite player. Biggest hero since King Kev.

October 9, 2023 at 1:20 pm #275122Butterfield is more consistent, KVV never was, that’s the difference between a class player and a show pony.

Jeez. That’s a long-held grudge.

October 9, 2023 at 3:17 pm #275134“Facts”. I mean, it’s clearly an opinion. You don’t have to rate him but 30 goals in the SPL last year is a fact.

He’s really good but has a tendency to drift out of games, imho. The man I’m looking at as the new Paul Longden (ie. Mr Consistency) is Regan Ogle.

Fair point about last season I was referring to his time playing for us in terms of consistency and yes it’s always an opinion but KVV disappeared for periods and entire games sometimes but he was a goal scorer so rose tinted specs usually apply with them.

October 9, 2023 at 3:25 pm #275139So do many players, but he had that pizzazz, skill and talent which made things memorable.

October 9, 2023 at 5:18 pm #275156I really enjoy watching Butterfield. As above .. that classy calmness every time he gets the ball. Awareness and confidence, even with the limitations of age. That first half fizzer along the ground that nearly deceived their keeper was a joy to watch.

October 9, 2023 at 6:03 pm #275159Would’ve loved to see Butterfield playing with higher quality players; no offence intended to our squad but you can see in footballing terms he’s on another wave length.
October 9, 2023 at 6:15 pm #275160It’s a shame Beestin and Clunan picked up such bad injuries at Rushall. Not in the same class as Butterfield but a bit closer than Shrimpton and Scales. We certainly created more when those 2 were playing.
I do think though that Shrimpton, Scales and Jenkins will all be better from playing with him and all 3 will go on to have decent careers.1 user thanked author for this post.
October 9, 2023 at 6:18 pm #275161Forgot about Roberts who based on reputation might be somewhere near the same class as Butterfield.
Time will tell, hopefully.
October 9, 2023 at 7:15 pm #275163I am a big fan of Scales. Would be surprised if he didn’t play league football in the coming years.

October 9, 2023 at 7:19 pm #275164Agree Cliff. Amazing energy and the whole team plays at a higher tempo when he plays.
I think we saw his value even more during the games he missed. Wouldn’t be surprised to see bids for him in the January window.

I’ll have to watch him a bit more closely next game I get to, he hasn’t stood out to me at all in the two games I’ve seen this season. Is he the sort of player who is more noticeable when he’s not playing?
October 10, 2023 at 10:29 am #275177October 10, 2023 at 11:53 am #275179Scales is one of our better players, definitely worse in midfield without him. Never stops running, decent on the ball and doesn’t shy away from challenges. Couple of games he’s been the best player on the pitch!

October 11, 2023 at 10:01 am #275214Just to go back to KVV … I still occasionally find myself mulling over his winner at Grimsby. And that ‘disgraceful’ celebration. For that alone he’ll surely live long in the memory of Iron fans. Then I just have to have another You Tube peek. ….That’s what I’ll do now.

We might have seen more of KVV had MK’s Favourite manager not kept him on the bench ahead of superstars like Jamie Proctor.
October 12, 2023 at 8:23 am #275234I watch KVV codhead goal and celebration quite often .. never get bored of it.

January 12, 2024 at 9:54 am #279147We need this guy to be on song tomorrow.
Free rein to do as he likes.
Let him run the show.
In fact – I’d let him pick the team and make the substitutions. -
