Loads of hype
Apparently it’s a done deal he’s off into the football league in Jan… BUT… is he actually all that ??Personally (having seen him a few times this season) I think he’s ok, he’s certainly nothing special !!!
He loses a lot of ball and is totally one footed… our fans are over excited because we’ve barely attacked a team for 3 years!!! We’ve certainly missed a player of his style!Good luck to him in January if he moves on but I don’t believe he’ll do anything outstanding from Jan to Aug in a top league 2/league 1 team… he’ll probably end up with appearances from the bench!!
October 25, 2022 at 11:23 pm #247517Well he certainly will not do much from May to August simply because there are no football games!!!!!.
What I have seen of him, he is a step above anything else that is in the team.

October 25, 2022 at 11:31 pm #247520Apologies Barton… January to May when he’ll potentially be at a football league club.
And you saying he’s a step ahead of his peers isn’t a great indictment because non of this lot could play football league so the bar is pretty low

Struggling to play non-league.
October 26, 2022 at 2:32 am #247527If he goes will.be missed .. dread to think what our budget will be in January to replace the likes if Apter Butterfield and any more that jump ship .

October 26, 2022 at 7:11 am #247532It would be interesting to see what he can do with better players around him, from what I have seen there is definitely a player there that could flourish in a better team.

October 26, 2022 at 9:13 am #247541Remember his age, he’s streets ahead of any of ours of similar age on whom we seem to be building our future. If half a dozen of our own were that good there would be cause for some optimism.

October 26, 2022 at 9:38 am #247552It’s great that we managed to win with Apter having an off day last night but given the number of goals & assists he has during his time here I think it’s safe to say that he is quite good.
Hopefully Cam Wilson can fill the void he leaves in January.

October 26, 2022 at 9:49 am #247558I said this when he signed on loan.
What amazes me is that Blackpool didn’t take a punt on him.
Surely worth at least 20 minutes as impact sub in the Championship?

October 26, 2022 at 11:04 am #247564He’s clearly head and shoulders above everyone else in our team. He’ll make the grade a division or 2 higher if he moves in January too.
Blackpool must be pleased with the development and that can only benefit us in the long term.
October 26, 2022 at 11:23 am #247566If, a big if I know, he stays with us then Blackpool can recall him if they want to use him. If he moves elsewhere he’s lost to them for the season. We can hope.
October 26, 2022 at 11:29 am #247568I think Blackpool and Apter will both want him to play at a higher level Cass, he’s well thought of at Blackpool and it sounds he’s part of their future first team plans.
No reason why they wouldn’t send us another promising youngster though; I know some people are against the loan system but for me, when it’s done correctly, it can benefit all parties.

October 26, 2022 at 11:37 am #247571I’ve said from the first game he played for us that we are lucky he came to Scunthorpe and am enjoying watching him. Yes he makes mistakes, he is still learning and maturing. He presses the opposition and is prepared to run at them, one of the goals he scored after beating two ir three of the opposition. Just wish we could keep him all season but I fear Blackpool will recall him or send him on loan to a higher division. I just hope that Wilson will improve to his level.

October 26, 2022 at 11:48 am #247573He’s 19, same age as Cam Wilson, yet miles ahead of him in terms of the performances he’s put in for us. If he leaves in January then the likelihood we’d see a replacement come in of similar quality is slim to none!
October 26, 2022 at 11:59 am #247575We were due a good loanee after some of the dross we’ve had lately and we struck lucky with Apter. No more from Middlesbrough please but Huddersfield and Forest have been good to us.
October 26, 2022 at 12:14 pm #247578His energy levels and appetite for the game are amazing, yes he tires late on as all youngsters do but his sheer skill, enthusiasm and wanting just to play are great to see.
October 26, 2022 at 12:27 pm #247583Mr Appleton the Blackpool manager already talking about a div 2 club or even div 1 in the new year for him.

Unbelievably, Hackney is starting and scoring for Middlesbrough in the championship.
