Recognise nearly all of them, but apart from Toppo, never knew any of their names. A real blast from the past. Takes me right back to the OSG. A few of those faces I’ve not seen since the mid 80s. Guy with the cap on; was he called Jamie? Used to go to a fair few away matches without that crowd. Do any of them lot still go to matches awaywego? I can’t pick out a single one.

I’ll have a look later. I thought you might know more names awaywego, weren’t them lot ‘Townies’ like you? A bit younger than you maybe? Tbh, a lot of them only showed up for the bigger games. Can’t say I blame them. Never saw the bloke at the back with tinted glasses on and dark hair at that many games. But he always looked bloody menacing to me.

Probably little bit younger even went to the same school as a lot of them (fox hills) names not my strong point I’m afraid, didn’t really need to know just one big family, same today I would expect the grand kids stand with the lads but hardly know anyone’s names yet if any, that will come when they start traveling by themselves and find their own group.

I didn’t join Facebook (I don’t think) I managed to scroll down and see the pics and comments. Always remember Titterton being called Titterton can’t remember it being squeak, like you say the memory getting old now indeed actually seeing a memory nurse on Friday if I start forgetting the 70s/80s that will be enough for me to say bye bye.

Noticed on photos the lack of older people 40/50yrs middle age and the saga crew, I can never remember them being there at away games in the 70/80s, now they make up the majority at most games, any thoughts on this.

Which photos, the ones on the Facebook page? Not really looked much. I went to a lot of away matches early 80s but wouldn’t know them anyway. Don’t forget, late 70s early 80s it was often one coach load to a lot of matches apart from the biggies and those relatively close by. Generally speaking of course. Plus, haven’t the SAGA crew got more time to spare these days?

To be fair Deerey not as many photos as I thought just a couple in the Bob Steels book of 1990, the photo from the orient game I can only see one older gentleman out of about 300 lads, plus the chester photos, but is just what I recall anyway don’t know about you. Maybe the hooligan element at the time made the difference for the older fans traveling.

Maybe it’s just that a lot less older Iron fans went to away matches in those days? Less disposable income, less interest (we were the pits before 83 promotion). It was all a bit rougher back then. Take your point though. Definitely more older quota going in recent times.

Here’s one for your memory nurse awaĆ½wego. Do you remember someone called Kenny with long fair hair who seemed to know that crowd in the pic, particularly Toppo, late 70s. Only remember seeing him occasionally, so I don’t know if he stopped going or moved away, or whatever. One thing I remember though, he had a bit of presence and they all seemed to look up to him. Ring any bells?
