Have a look on scunny united fan group on Facebook if you haven’t already picture up of toppos tranny van hooligans photo at Osg setting off for Chester if your on there point yourself out. Happy days.
January 10, 2023 at 9:09 am #252336Recognise nearly all of them, but apart from Toppo, never knew any of their names. A real blast from the past. Takes me right back to the OSG. A few of those faces I’ve not seen since the mid 80s. Guy with the cap on; was he called Jamie? Used to go to a fair few away matches without that crowd. Do any of them lot still go to matches awaywego? I can’t pick out a single one.
January 10, 2023 at 9:15 am #252338I heard DeereyMe led the game stalling antics. :-)
January 10, 2023 at 9:18 am #252340Definitely not!
January 10, 2023 at 10:09 am #252343Same here Deerey only know toppo by name, still see some of the faces at matches but sure a lot have really changed, we never travelled with them either lots of different groups in them days, scroll further down and you will recognize me, (not really) someone said what’s that girl from Grimsby doing there lol.
January 10, 2023 at 10:22 am #252344I’ll have a look later. I thought you might know more names awaywego, weren’t them lot ‘Townies’ like you? A bit younger than you maybe? Tbh, a lot of them only showed up for the bigger games. Can’t say I blame them. Never saw the bloke at the back with tinted glasses on and dark hair at that many games. But he always looked bloody menacing to me.
January 10, 2023 at 10:36 am #252347Lol, very funny awaywego. Someone let you out your cage for the day!

January 10, 2023 at 10:39 am #252348Probably little bit younger even went to the same school as a lot of them (fox hills) names not my strong point I’m afraid, didn’t really need to know just one big family, same today I would expect the grand kids stand with the lads but hardly know anyone’s names yet if any, that will come when they start traveling by themselves and find their own group.

Forgot his name, think his hair was dark ginger.

Tomo was a regular as was a big blond fella Squeak (think his surname was Titterton ?) n J Rielly , Paul Duckit .. my memory is very old now…sorry
January 10, 2023 at 6:25 pm #252377I didn’t join Facebook (I don’t think) I managed to scroll down and see the pics and comments. Always remember Titterton being called Titterton can’t remember it being squeak, like you say the memory getting old now indeed actually seeing a memory nurse on Friday if I start forgetting the 70s/80s that will be enough for me to say bye bye.
January 10, 2023 at 6:59 pm #252380Seen Squeak in the DRE at a few of our recent matches.

January 11, 2023 at 11:17 am #252402Is Vanarama streaming the Woking game?
Not showing on their site.January 11, 2023 at 1:21 pm #252409Noticed on photos the lack of older people 40/50yrs middle age and the saga crew, I can never remember them being there at away games in the 70/80s, now they make up the majority at most games, any thoughts on this.
January 11, 2023 at 1:52 pm #252412Which photos, the ones on the Facebook page? Not really looked much. I went to a lot of away matches early 80s but wouldn’t know them anyway. Don’t forget, late 70s early 80s it was often one coach load to a lot of matches apart from the biggies and those relatively close by. Generally speaking of course. Plus, haven’t the SAGA crew got more time to spare these days?
January 11, 2023 at 2:47 pm #252414fairly sure he was called Colin, lived near me in Ashby (the guy with the glasses)
January 11, 2023 at 3:56 pm #252417To be fair Deerey not as many photos as I thought just a couple in the Bob Steels book of 1990, the photo from the orient game I can only see one older gentleman out of about 300 lads, plus the chester photos, but is just what I recall anyway don’t know about you. Maybe the hooligan element at the time made the difference for the older fans traveling.
January 11, 2023 at 4:38 pm #252419Maybe it’s just that a lot less older Iron fans went to away matches in those days? Less disposable income, less interest (we were the pits before 83 promotion). It was all a bit rougher back then. Take your point though. Definitely more older quota going in recent times.

January 22, 2023 at 10:16 pm #253663Here’s one for your memory nurse awaĆ½wego. Do you remember someone called Kenny with long fair hair who seemed to know that crowd in the pic, particularly Toppo, late 70s. Only remember seeing him occasionally, so I don’t know if he stopped going or moved away, or whatever. One thing I remember though, he had a bit of presence and they all seemed to look up to him. Ring any bells?
January 23, 2023 at 2:16 am #253668Kenny rings a bell .. not sure if that was Kenny Titterton
i started going away regularly from 1981-2
