It looks like the Iron Trust have launched a new online merch shop in collaboration with with Merch Labs. One or two nice designs in there https://irontrust.shop/

April 28, 2025 at 7:26 pm #303627Wont go down well on here taking money from the club.
Then there’s the matter of using the club name or nickname, intellectual property rights isn’t it.
Stus funding v trust who’ll contribute more? my guess now I’ve seen this Stu, who’d have thunked it.April 28, 2025 at 7:55 pm #303631I not like tuther side Earl having a dig at the trust and probably Bru questioning, how much merch labs get out of it, how much the club would get from it, all fair game imo.
Went back on again and it seems to have been deleted. Wtf.April 28, 2025 at 7:56 pm #303632Have you sustained a knock to the head Awaywego? Money raised by the Trust is used to purchase shares in SUFC. How is that taking money from the club?

April 28, 2025 at 8:01 pm #303634Really, tell me again how many shares have they purchased.
How many members they got now 1200+ isn’t it. £10 a pop!April 28, 2025 at 8:14 pm #303635I can only speak on behalf of the Merch Labs, but we are charging to produce the merch, the same cost the club and any of the businesses that come to us would get.
And we also get the gateway fee, which partially covers the card fees and fulfilment.

April 28, 2025 at 8:16 pm #303636Was just having a look at the new shop after seeing Mike’s designs being used. My initial reaction is I like some of the new merch labs t-shirt designs and whilst not a big fan of Mike’s design style, I absolutely love the endeavour and partnership. Great stuff. The Butler design made me laugh. Someone needs to buy Jeff ‘so called’ Pugh one for his birthday :)

I applaud Mike’s efforts. Not my thing, either, but really good – artistic and thoughtfully done. Fair play to him, there will be ‘an audience’ for his stuff, for sure. I don’t like any of the Merch Labs stuff, I have to say. I just can’t connect with it at all – ideas seem flat or half-arsed or rushed, and the designs could be so much better executed. If I was buying SUFC-related merch, in terms of the way it looked I’d want a decent, clever, tasteful aesthetic and not some clip-art level seaside tat.
April 29, 2025 at 8:08 am #303647Not sure I like this idea ,they fell out with the club and some quite pointed accusation were leaked out about short notice and wives having to collect the gear ,for the trust to get into bed with them so soon after after such a fallout send a bad message in my opinion.
I would add that anyone trying to claim that’s any stand at OSG is being lazy ,even the floodlight on it looks like a Rubik’s cube on a stand . I’m sorry but this gear is poor . Also “forged in unity” just reads really tortured .
I’m a big fan of the trust but cannot back everything and this feels wrong.April 29, 2025 at 8:17 am #303648I would add that anyone trying to claim that’s any stand at OSG is being lazy
I also thought this. Not really distinguishable as the OSG.
Also, picky though some may find this, was the OSG really “home of the Iron” from 1899? The Club’s original nickname was The Knuts.

I’d imagine the Trust is ‘repaying’ faith to Merch Labs for pumping out those (badly designed) Save Our Steel mugs a couple of weeks back, which must have been on super-quick turnaround. At basic level, they’re trying to show support to a local business. However, the fact that business was seemingly treated badly by the Club and there’s ‘beef’ there is a big factor, as you could now perceive the Trust to be very visibly taking sides. Imho that’s an error of judgement.
April 29, 2025 at 9:02 am #303650Should also add, here, that I thought the Merch Labs people handled themselves with great dignity when they were turfed out of GP. They could have Smoking Goated all over social media, but they chose to keep their powder dry. That’s worth remembering.

It seems some prefer it that way.
April 29, 2025 at 11:11 am #303667To be ‘Smoking Goated’ should be common parlance.
April 29, 2025 at 11:23 am #303670Dont think the board are interested in being on the same side as fans Cass.
The bitterness after the fc100,000 debacle shows.

Coincidence? I think we should be told.

No room for the nuance in situations in your world then?
April 29, 2025 at 1:36 pm #303688Just posed a question didn’t realise you’d pose another or perhaps you weren’t answering my point then in which case I will sarcastically move on.

Well maybe, I just think some people spend so long dwelling on bull shit and negativity they miss the bigger picture, the club needs money raising, not for kids parties or supporter away travel IMO but to actually put in the clubs coffers and I applaud the Iron Trust for trying their best to do that and yes I’m a long term member and yes I fully support their efforts so go Trust, sell as much of that merchandise as you can and I don’t give a flying f*** if their supplier has just been dropped by the club it’s all about the money and the Unity Group or Stu Limited or whatever they are called need to keep to their own funds raising which has raised plenty of questions and allow the Trust the time and space to keep on raising money to purchase as many club shares as possible to give the funds ACTUALLY TO THE CLUB, there you go rant over UTI

I don’t think pointing out that the Trust and Merch Labs getting into bed is a bit of an eyebrow-raiser is being negative.
Agree with you on the Trust raising funds bit. I just wish it was with some stylish merch, not this general tat.
April 29, 2025 at 2:22 pm #303695Quality of merchandise aside, I don’t think many were happy with the treatment Merch Labs received after their previous terrific support.
April 29, 2025 at 2:26 pm #303696One man’s tat is another man’s stylish merchandise.
Never bought any club related merchandise for myself although have bought shirts and mugs for grandchildren.
Are there any examples of a lower league or non league club selling tasteful or stylish merchandise? Not seen any myself.
