You are wrong with Shankley Pat, he was there a lot longer than that, was it big Lawrie McMenamey who went to Southampton.
    Possibly right with the others.

Deffo wrong about Shankley, he went to Liverpool early sixties and was Cod Ead boss before then. Deffo right about McMenemy mick, two years later ( 1976 ) he was picking up the FA Cup at Wembley as Southampton manager with a win over some crappy team from Manchester.

Shanks, £80k, and Longden are all wrong. But I like the latter two. So close Pat! Yeah, there’s some toughies, but you can take a few educated guesses here and there.

Could those participating list their answers 1 to 10 before Friday please? I have a feeling I know who will win this.

    Kilmore £50k for a guess

Regarding appearance 87/88 either Mark Atkin or Dave Hill but a complete guess and have no idea.

ok, so Bullimore was mid 90’s so i’m going to go for 1996 for question 10?

If I was close with Paul Longden then I’m going for the other full back Billy Russell for question 9, can’t remember him missing many games?

    1. Ken Jones was later Pat.
Our keeper in the first season was called Thompson. I know that because I’ve got the team photo o the wall (see I didn’t google it!).

    2. Dunno. Worst cup run?

    3. Sunderland or Newcastle?

    4. Is either Frank Burrows or Keith Burkinshaw. I’m pretty sure KB always wore 6 so I reckon you’re right with Burrows.

    5. Aye, Lawrie Mac.

    6. Either Bell, Marsh or Tueart. I’ll go for Rodney.

    7. Dunno but £60,000 sounds about right.

    8. Agree on Rowing.

    9. Andy Flounders?

    10. Earlier than 96. 94?

Keeper was George Thompson who was later transferred to Preston N E. While there he collided with Derek Dooley (S Wednesday) who as a result of the accident suffered a broken leg which had to be amputated because of gas gangrene. I believe Thompson was an England B International during his Preston days. I consider him to be the Iron’s best ever keeper.
