Doesnt say any more than we have been saying all year on here.
A non metropolitan agricultural / steel town in a low demographic backwater means that it’s always going to be an uphill battle.
Small crowds = small revenue.
When the steel works finally goes – how many families will relocate?
How many new young (school age) supporters can the club attract – when you are competing with ‘wall to wall’ sky / bt coverage of the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal etc ?
The disparity between the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’ increases each and every year.
Only seven clubs have won the premier league since its inception in 1992-93 … 29 years ago!
7 different winners in 29 years!
Three of those seven clubs have only won it once!
So four clubs have dominated it for 26 years!
Best league in the world – only if you are one of the biggest clubs, with the biggest budget and with the biggest crowds.
It’s mind numbingly predictable and destroying the ‘nations game’.
Alas, even that statement has to be questioned in the 21st century.
Fifty years ago, there was little competition for your hard earned pounds – these days, consumers are more discerning, have greater choice, higher expectations and demand a quality product.
The EFL & FA sit in their ivory towers whilst the band continue playing as the ship sinks.
Suggested amendment to title – Iron feature in National League.
A good article but should have checked his facts re the 2009 play off semi final!
