Pretty accurate summary of how we got here. Interesting to see it from an outside point of view too.

Always good to see it from the outside – supporters can see it less clear (either for or against things). I couldn’t fault the article (small typo’s aside). I guess we will have to wait and see how it all plays out.

Interesting article that worryingly seems to sum things up pretty well.

It would be interesting to know who wrote this and if Ian is just a pseudonym for a local journo as he seems quite au fait with what’s going, he may even read this board.

Sounds like they’ve definitely took some anecdotal evidence from this board.

    Still a fair summary.

The apologists will still find some way to blame it on the fans/covid though.

Good article nothing we don’t already know though, Let’s hope it’s just this one piece on us, unlike the other teams on their “Crisis” page would have been interesting to see all the clubs and their issues not just a select few, especially Macc and Bury clubs who lost their lge places, will continue to look and see if they alternate the teams. Will take a bit of time to go through them all that are their at the moment. Thanks Ironawe for highlighting this site. Would have liked it even more if they highlighted the teams recovery’s, but still a good site.

He’s a blogger from Worthing who has been writing about clubs in trouble for over a decade. I believe he did a number of articles chronicling the decline of Boston back in the day.

Very good article and would appear to be a very accurate assessment of where the club and its fans stand at this moment in time. Quite a lot of it has been broadly discussed on this forum over several seasons, so I see no need to question the details. Desperate times indeed for our football club, that’s ” our ” football club, nowt to do with the Prawn he’s just the current owner who will disappear when the time is right for him and that can’t be long now he has acquired the club became of big headed bungling management.

The apologists will say he’s neither a fan nor a customer, so his views don’t count!

Worthing is a carsie so any opinion from that place is to be ignored.

Great reply Lord… must have taken you a while to add such thought out opinions

A very good and truthful article.

For what it’s worth I would say as more articles are written from people with no association with the club about the awful situation we are in then maybe more people will sit up and realise we are potentially on the edge of a cliff here!!

After having pumped the club with a debt that he must surely have known it was never going to be able to repay (Where was a club the size of Scunthorpe ever going to find £11m? Down the back of the sofa?), this action has now effectively pushed the blame for the club’s considerable indebtedness onto the club itself by claiming the ground and their other assets in return. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, whether through his company or his ownership of the football club, the ground can’t even now be apparently kept in a presentable condition.

A great article that pretty much reflects my thoughts and feelings. These are worrying times for the club right now, and I see scant evidence that Swann and the board are doing anything to arrest the decline!

    I’ll say it again:

NOT a football club chairman, a property developer.

    We’re in deep sh*t.

My opinion of Worthing requires no time to write, it really is a sh*t hole….

It was probably less a comment about your vast knowledge of Worthing and more about your view that an article by someone who lives there isn’t worthy. Personally, I think that’s the place you got turned down for that public sector job.

I used to work there and know my way around very well. That’s why I know the place, and it’s people.

What has Worthing being a carsie have to do with anything that was written in the article? And while we are on the subject what part of the article would you say is not bang on the money?

A propos of nothing in particular …
Read recently that with gardens, parks etc – Worthing is the worst town/city in the UK with regard to greenery, flowers and vegetation.
(I do have friends there but they don’t write excellent articles on football.)
