LT suggested we’d have three or four new players signed up before the 1st home pre-season game ..(this Saturday)
The clock is ticking….

July 12, 2022 at 11:31 am #240382I could feel a bit of excitement but if two of them are a rookie ‘keeper and a crock from 2 divisions below then it won’t last long.
July 12, 2022 at 11:43 am #240384Lee may have thought that. The “signings” may have thought differently!

July 12, 2022 at 12:39 pm #240387More chance of an incoming rocket from Putin then any signings, hope I’m wrong on both.
July 12, 2022 at 12:54 pm #2403892 new signings agreed according to Matt Dean on Twitter – Dewhurst and Bunney? Maybe the lad that played against Hudds U23’s?
If it is, got to wonder where the next signings are coming from…

July 12, 2022 at 1:12 pm #240391People are saying the two are Dewhurt and Bunney.
2 more through the door but still need way, way more. 3 Strikers short for a start. 1 more CB, 1 more RB, and a left sided player.
July 12, 2022 at 1:33 pm #240396My Chester FC pal contacted me last night with the exciting news that they had signed a new midfield “general” in the shape of ex-Iron Alex Kenyon.
When I pointed out he played in a grand total of 7 games for us with 0 goals & 0 assists and was so crap we got rid in January his bubble soon burst!
Such was last summer’s recruitment. Can’t be as bad this year surely?
July 12, 2022 at 1:56 pm #240401I’ll settle for just two strikers, WG.
We’ll only have spent a tiny amount of money so far, consequently, we can clearly afford to spend 25% of the budget on a real goal-scorer and another 25% on a player so fast that no defender can keep up as he cuts defences to ribbons.
It has to be that – what other outcome could there possibly be? My only worry is that they won’t be here before Saturday.

July 12, 2022 at 2:20 pm #240406if we sign 2 out n out strikers by Saturday i will eat my socks shoes and Y fronts .. not a cat in hells chance, in fact more chance of England winning the World Cup under Southgate .
July 12, 2022 at 2:47 pm #240410Just had a check on the OWS, it shows we currently have 9 players who, at a stretch, could be classed as experienced. 4 of those have “fitness issues”.

1 kick away from winning the last tournament but still not good enough for self-entitled England fans.

July 12, 2022 at 3:13 pm #240414Says it all about our recruitment that Kenyon is now gracing the midfield of a bottom-half NLN club
July 12, 2022 at 3:50 pm #240416Did’t Davis and Green go NLN as well?
July 12, 2022 at 3:53 pm #240417Will Kenyon ever be fully match fit again? I doubt it based on his appearance’s last season, not many I know but the guy has that sort of build and the age he is where injuries will be hard to shake off IMO. Wish him all the best but he was never a league 2 player last season, nowhere near.
July 12, 2022 at 4:29 pm #240422Nthle has signed today
July 12, 2022 at 4:46 pm #240423Yes. Good signing for this level 👏
July 12, 2022 at 4:59 pm #240424Ok so thats an inexperienced keeper on a season long loan who will be first choice and a former fullback on a six month deal because of his injury record, not impressed one bit. We need bloody forwards plus experience and fit players FFS.

July 12, 2022 at 5:01 pm #240425Not really thrilled with Nthle- can’t even remember hardly any games he played in- but he might have found his level of he can stay fit.
Pleased we’ve got a goalkeeper in. Couple of years of non league experience will have done no harm too.
July 12, 2022 at 5:13 pm #240427Seem to remember he was hard working but could be a bit rash. Was just starting to look OK in a poor side when he got injured and Covid ended the season shortly afterwards.
July 12, 2022 at 5:38 pm #240428Looked okay in the few games i saw him in. Hopefully stays fit

Won’t even be doing that. They’ve a midfielder called George Glendon who’s miles better.

Apologies – but why is this Saturday so important?
Not at you…
But a generalisation – if you go to HARRODS with a tenner in your pocket… what can you buy?
July 12, 2022 at 7:30 pm #240436Even at the very least we need 2 strikers, 1 CB, 1 RB and a left sided player.
That’s not me being an idiot wanting all the budget to be blown either, we need those players for a competitive, balanced squad !
Those are musts. We lack any back up at CB and RB, only one recognized striker and we’re lacking a left hand sided attacker.
If we go into the season this short in squad numbers we’ll be in very serious trouble.
July 12, 2022 at 7:38 pm #240438So Swann’s legacy has come to signing injured players on 6 month deals. A bit of a fall from grace.
July 12, 2022 at 7:52 pm #240441Not really. We used to sign injured players on two-year deals!

July 12, 2022 at 7:52 pm #240442If we have to sign players with an injury record I think a 6 month contract is an excellent idea. If he stays fit and plays well he will get another deal. If not then we haven’t lost too much.
The astute businessman likes a 2 year deals for crocs.

July 12, 2022 at 9:04 pm #240465What get’s me is that we’ve seen us get players in for every other position on trial, apart from strikers. I find that a bit odd seen as that’s where we are most short.

3 in a single game last Saturday.
How many did our top scorer notch in a season last year?
Speculate to accumulate.July 12, 2022 at 9:22 pm #240467If you are a striker that is worth a light you don’t need to do trials. You just leave your phone switched on.
