Imagine if Clemence was just starting is career in today’s age of football forums, conceding 14 goals in his first 5 starts including letting 7 in against our biggest rivals, the questions that would have been asked of the wisdom of the chairman and manager of playing a young inexperienced 17 year old in a division higher than now,a lot of posters would have hung him out to dry especially if it was Swanny in charge. It is what it is now and there’s no going back, but it was a lot nicer when just had the scunny telegraph every night for news on scunny and the conversations at work and the pub.

And racing up to Britania Corner on a Saturday night at half six to get the sports edition with all the results and match reports.
Messrs Empson and Belton only got stick when sat in the directors box on match day.
    How times have changed.

Yes, it is what it is awaywego, so why do you frequently feel the need to criticise fellow supporters?

Social media platforms are both good and bad, good we can express our opinions early and enter into debate with our fellow players but bad when abused in the way the orange faced idiot abroad is using it now. Good and bad, positive and dangerous, the wonderful world of social media.

Because this IS the age of the football forum Deerey, I am not trying to excuse myself, we can all reflect and ask ourselves are we been fair, plus at the end of the day I hope most is banter and if it offends, people shouldn’t be on a forum like ours, I guess I must have touched a raw nerve with you,but if the cap fits wear it.

You didn’t touch a raw nerve. I have rarely slagged off players on here. Plenty have, but that’s their prerogative. I just notice how you try and find any opportunity to criticise fellow supporters. Seems to be an obsession.

Conceding 14 goals in his first 5 matches. There is an assumption that all 14 goals were his fault with no knowledge of how many saves he made to keep the total below 14. Clearly didn’t put him, the manager or Liverpool off too much. The other factor is the same team played in nearly every match, whatever the results were.

Come on do your homework we won 2 of them games. I wasn’t referring to him, the manager or Liverpools wisdom I would expect they could see past them goals and what a prospect he was, But some of the posters on here wouldn’t so a little honesty wouldn’t go amiss.

Homework? Where did I comment on whether we won or lost any of the matches? What exactly are you referring to?

Imagine if Rory Watson had been playing in the sixties.

Imagine if in his first game Matt Tees had but both him and the ball in the back of the net and the goal had stood.

Imagine if he had been signed by Liverpool and got top goalkeeping coaching instead of being trained by Jack Brownsword with a fag in his mouth.

Imagine if we hadn’t sold Barrie Thomas to Newcastle.

Imagine if George Best had been teetotal and celibate.

Imagine if Maradonna hadn’t been a smack- head.

    Good game isn’t it?

So you don’t think football has changed in the last fifty years?
