….. cut my losses and sell whatever assets I owned. For whatever reason, this club is toxic from top to bottom and no matter how many managers, coaches, scouts, Chairmen, COO;s etc we throw at it, I just don’t see any way in which the club can continue as an attractive proposition to fans, players, staff et el. We all have an opinion on the root cause of this demise but I’m not sure any of us would agree that the future looks bright under new ownership.

I’ve never quit anything in my life before, including loss making businesses, but there comes a time when you just have to face reality. As hard as it is to say after 65 years of supporting this club through thick and thin, I’d throw in the towel and maximise whatever value I could out of the assets I owned. At least we’d not be an embarrassment anymore :-(

I don’t believe that. Once a complete sweep is done at the club of most of the playing staff and coaching staff “I include Dean and Plummer in with that” we will start to move forward.

I don’t believe we can’t be turned around but it will be a long process. We have to start with getting recruitment right and that’s not been the case now for 5+ seasons. Dean’s not up to it either.

I’d go for a Nelson and Cliff Byrne managerial side, have a clean sweep at the club and really try and pin down the characters and players with the right level of ability that we’re going to need.

Only then will we begin to move forward. I don’t believe we’re a complete lost cause though as there’s been other teams that have had to drop down to regroup and come back up.

I wouldn’t feel comfortable giving a clean slate and a sizeable budget to Dean though and I just don’t think he’s good enough.

Only problem is by then we’ll be back to square one as Dean will have already signed a whole host of HIS OWN players. I don’t think Dean will go but I’d like him to as do many others.

What have you seen in Dean to make you believe he’s good enough ?

Well he’s not had chance for a full pre season with players he will undoubtedly want to bring in and he was being pretty successful with a team on a nothing budget and over achieving when he left them and joined us in a division we will be in next season. Hilton has said Dean will get his chance next season, he will have a budget bigger then he’s ever had and a good experienced coach in Nelson to get them firing in training. He will get a decent length of time but if we aren’t there or there abouts by Xmas then he may be in trouble but that will be Hilton’s decision not ours.

We was all pleased with the new signings. On paper they looked like the ones needed. The fact they have no pride, fight, passion is something you find out after they have signed. Many of these players will never play again , after all who wants to sign players of the above ilk. Mr Hilton tried but it did not work.
I am GREATFUL that he tried. You cannot train the above , it has to be in you.only when they are out of the game and looking back they will ask if only. A total rebuild will happen in the summer. The future is bright, it just takes time.

All of this sounds pretty much the same as what was being said about Hill this time last year.

    I wasn’t.
I said as they dribbled in on the hour every hour that day… I don’t fancy him etc.
    I’ve been proven correct.
They are a shower of shite.

I think Dean will be given his chance with a decent budget and if not playing well in in the top 6 in the NLN Hilton will sack him .. its obvious to see Hilton is not fazed by making tough decisions so give JD his chance.

Total clear out .. can anyone name a player on recent performances and current form who should stay n play at the club next season .. all the loan players dont give ashit and sadly some who are on the books have given up and are an embarassment.

Hilton needs the fans backing , if Dean remains crap in NLN he will go ..for now he also should be given an opportunity to succeed on his own merits not with a cobbled together mix n match bunch of no hopers hes working with now.

IMO the rash of signings was a gamble to stay up that has back fired badly…

    I’d have a rethink.
No point throwing good money after bad.
Take the money spent on the chin.
Go back to and further develop Ilkeston.
    Be happy.

After supporting the club for 48 years and seen good times and bad times I have finally decided not to buy a season ticket for next season, like people are saying the club is rotten to the core and is only fit for the bin so that’s what I have done in binning it.

I will always love the club but refuse to put any more money into it as it stands at the minute, some will say you need to keep going to help get us back on the right road but I just cannot justify it any longer and the last 4 games have been pitiful, embarrassing, shameful, disgraceful and an insult to the supporters.

Mr Hilton needs to be stronger run the club how he wants and have a fresh start, I don’t now what is wrong! but it just seems coaching staff, managers, players and owners are at a total loss to sort it and in the players case just take the piss every time they take the pitch, two players in Pugh and shrimpton can hold their heads high and say i’am really trying.

We have one of the worst records it not the worst of any professional club in all of the professional leagues in Europe over the last 2 seasons and it doesn’t seem like it will end anytime soon so until there is some fight on the pitch i’am done.

Bye BI joining BS on the sofa lol, must be an old age thing ditching your side, I’ll tell the kids and grandsons to give me a slap if I get like you, Mmm Pugh the player who couldn’t hit a barn door righty ho, the player yesterday whole let the Gateshead players get to him and on the 4th time petulantly kicked out in only the 37th minute he’s not got the height probably they were taking the piss about it.

Clubs have a captive audience and exploit the fans life long loyalty.

If they (literally) sold shit pies & chips, we’d moan, but they’d get away with it as we are supporting the club by spending our hard earned cash which will help the budget.

Only one team per season is successful (the champions), the others are runners up, also rans, none triers and the walking dead.

Why would anyone want to watch the walking dead at £20 a pop?

Lots of the good people of Scunthorpe will be thinking long and hard about paying to watch next season.

Economically, times are tough and they may decide that money is better used towards their mortgage, rent, electric, gas etc?

I’ve not seen nothing in Dean to make me believe he’s good enough WG but I believe he gets a fair crack of the whip that’s only fair. 13 games with the rabble he’s had is not fair.

two players in Pugh and shrimpton can hold their heads high and say i’am really trying.

If they’re saying that they should also add that they’re not good enough. I didn’t see much evidence yesterday that they were trying any more than the rest of the shower and Pugh knocked off early.

The jury is out on both and I didn’t say they were quality but at least they do try especially Fin, one or both will be at the club next season so midfield is going to be an area where we must by better quality.

Come the end of the season we’re talking 17 games which is not a lot off half a season. Most of these players are new players, not saying they’re the one’s he 100% wanted but they’re here.

Bennett is the calibre of striker he wanted here and he’s gash. Sembie Ferris has hardly had a kick. Elliot only track record of scoring and won’t alter tactics to get the best out of him.

I just think there’s enough evidence to suggest he hasn’t got everything he can out the players he’s got now. Would it be any different with a complete new fresh batch of players ?

Only danger is if he carries on to struggle after drafting in a full squad of his own players, to then have somebody else come in and work with what he’s signed.

Being saying that since my first thread “Scunny fans the worst” after fans booed king Kvv on to the pitch in the first home game of the season (scored 2 already today Toney scored 1 pen but missed another shock horror) nothing as changed my mind in that time far from it.
