Watch in the coming weeks, now Israel is being invaded and attacked, all the flags in support of Israel will start to appear in solidarity.

I back Israel and support them against Hamas. Israel get support, rightfully, but supporting Ukraine has many whining.

It works both ways. As much as some show hypocrisy in showing solidarity to Ukraine, but not Israel, the opposite is also true.

I do not agree with the Settlers and their methods. However, this wave of Hamas/PIJ terror is appalling. There are lives at stake because of their extremism and Hamas or PIJ don’t make their intent towards Jews a secret. Nor do they value Palestinians that much. They’re happy to have them tortured and killed when it suits.

The Russians brutalised and destroyed Chechnya in the early 00s. Grozny, in particular, was a shell after Russian attacks and oppression of Chechens. These actions did not excuse the Chechen terrorist massacre at Beslan in 2003. Similarly this current Islamist action is inexcusable.

My daughter and grandkids are safe, Bill. So are my sister in law and nephews and nieces. In case you or anyone is interested.
What with all of this and concern for Armenian friends it’s a bit stretching. My advice to anyone is not to hold on to too many grievances and grudges at the personal level. They can morph into the kind of demonic violence which are filling our TV screens at present and ertainly don’t represent the one who said ‘ Love your enemies and bless those who despite fully use you.’
That’s all I can muster. Sidey pretty well says it for me.

Some of the responses to today have been sick. Oz, however, is a credit to his profession and as someone who stands for Palestinian rights without letting Jew hatred get in the way. I don’t agree with him on everything, but he is a vital voice.

Some are really showing their agendas now:

The claims that they are not anti-Semitic, just opposing Israel, look more hollow as they celebrate the deaths of civilians enjoying themselves.

Going against the sick scenes from the displays, celebrating death and terror, I will share a more uplifting and humane message from an Iraqi. I hope people like him raise their voices in the coming days.

Hurting too much yesterday to respond. No you don’t understand 64. You have no idea. Running suspiciously contrived clips to mitigate the barbarism and savagery we have just witnessed is despicable. I know that you love a deliberately simplistic posting to provoke a reaction. You could have at least waited until the last hostage has been freed .. or killed, raped or mutilated .. and the full body count has been made in Israel. You couldn’t even manage the usual etiquette of waiting for the inevitable suffering in Gaza before pointing the finger
    Despicable.

Once again innocent people on both sides are paying the ultimate price in what will turn out to be another bloodbath, why can’t people just live peacefully and allow people of all colour and religion to carry about their own lives in peace and harmony.

It’s because there is a metaphysical force for evil that most folks are totally unaware of. Thankfully there is a vastly superior force for love and truth which one day will deal with all of this wickedness. That day may well be on the horizon.

I realise that’s your belief, but from a humanist perspective I think it misses what causes such friction and tribalism. Meaning it won’t solve the issues going forward (not like they’re easily solved).

“That day may well be on the horizon”.

A nice thought but based on recent events and other conflicts it’s a long way off and probably will never be reached.

I utterly condemn the actions of Hamas, but how long will this seemingly unconditional support for Israel last?

Will we support war crimes, ongoing mass destruction, denial of humanitarian aid and thousands of civilian deaths on the scale seen in Syria, Ukraine and in Africa?

    How much retribution is enough?

Given some of the demos around the world .. and even the odd comment on here .. its far from unconditional support for Israel, Heath.
My son in law is now called up. Should he refuse for humanitarian reasons? In my circles in Israel I dont know anyone who hates Arabs or wants the people of Gaxa to suffer. But they believe that something has to be done about the anti Jewish/ anti Israel maniacs embedded in Gaza.
‘ How much retribution is enough? ” That’s simplistic in my opinion. If it was just about that then would the Israelis be morally obliged to kill a matching amount of Arabs and then call a halt. You are missing the fact that this is an ongoing matter of national security and threat from a fanatical ‘death cult.’ Perhaps after Pearl Harbour the USA should have bombed a Japanese port, sunk some of their navy and then gor on with life.

Perhaps I should have made it clear that I was talking about state support, western Governments including our own.

You may not know any Israelis who want the people of Gaza to suffer, but they will. The pint I am making is how long will they suffer and how many will die.

Is it justified to bomb the whole of Gaza to the ground?

When you see pictures of young women and kids, yes and even babies being murdered or taken prisoners by these murdering evil human animals it makes you hate such evil trash.

I hope that Israel wipe the bastards off the earth, that does not mean blast all Palestinions, but I know it is difficult, but these Hamas murderers, who kill for their own enjoyment, kill the lot of them and have done with it.

Not easy to do that without blasting all Palestinians is it. In addition to the hostages, Hamas terrorists are shielding within the Palestinian neighbourhoods. Many more children will be blasted.

I agree that it’s a terrible dilemma. Israel ..as in the past campaigns .. does try to give warning about its targets and does try to identify Hamas infrastructure… but undoubtedly that is extremely limited. A purely ground operation will mean many further Israeli casualties, hence the bombing first. A terrible tragedy.
