I’m no MLK but I reckon the wreckage can be salvaged ,with or without(phoenix) Hilton if they still have somewhere to play.
It simple, our much maligned trust could,
A ) activate the assett of community value clause
B) Start their own version of the 1500 club, X amount a month per person with a simple and no quibble stipulation, that being,if the ground is ever not needed for Scunthorpe united purposes they will get the value of their share minus legal fees of course. Nothing else ,nothing less.
The ground could then be loaned for peppercorn to whatever shape SUFC takes ,
I do now know that they have to find finances ,Would Swann would accept gifting an interest free mortgage to us or other finance options such as grants to top up any funds raise.
How the ground will be run?, obviously volunteers could do small tasks like any community sports ground until we establish as fully pro again ,but there are taxes and council taxes etc ,none of which I know anything about so won’t even be guessing2 users thanked author for this post.

September 26, 2023 at 12:14 pm #273574This is deliberately and overtly simplistic by me

This is a really noble idea – a fan-owned, democratically run club with lifetime memberships and subscriptions / shares. I can see this being difficult to establish but working well – as long as there is a constitution that people sign up to and must live by in terms of behaviour.
September 26, 2023 at 1:13 pm #273584Can I clarify, this was purely the ground for me to become a separate community asset to be owned by the/a trust

September 26, 2023 at 1:33 pm #273585Totally agree ground only, I would fully support the trust going forward as would many, that’s all I’ve wanted all along let’s hope it comes to fruition.
September 26, 2023 at 1:44 pm #273588The are a million and one hurdles for this , not least infrastructure improvements and goes to stop bad owners demonising them in disputes
September 26, 2023 at 3:17 pm #273609September 26, 2023 at 6:08 pm #273629Good proposal.
The devil is in the detail but we have friends in the council and the local community will rally round.
September 26, 2023 at 8:56 pm #273654Great idea 64, I’m in on that one, at least done properly it will be cosher and if it is I assume a lot more people would become involved, what do you think guys?
September 26, 2023 at 9:02 pm #273655This is just a very b simplistic dream, But I reckon promising nothing in return is the best, most easily fulfilled premise
September 26, 2023 at 9:08 pm #273656It’s a great idea. Lincoln City fans saved their Club and I didn’t knoow that Exeter fans own their club.
Of course though Lincoln and Exeter are cities and I guess they have a bigger intake of supporters.
We need the Councils, both local and North Lincolnshire, on board with local businesses, to help the Iron Trust and supporters to save our Club.September 26, 2023 at 9:12 pm #273657In think the club is a basket case , this is purely about the ground for me The ground and club should remain separate entities with the ground always in trust

Additionally, When Sharp/Elliot had their bid accepted last year, plenty of local businesses offered their services for free to help tidy it up.
